Step 1: Land at your airfield.
Step 2: Wait until you repair/rearm and get teleported to the end of the runway.
Step 3: Hold J and exit the aircraft.
Step 4: You will be taken to the spawn screen. In case you didn't know, you can also use this to swap weapons, but in the situations this guide is concerned with that won't help, so don't spawn.
Step 5: Return to the hangar. The game will tell you that you still have crews ready to fight, but you don't want them to die for nothing. More importantly, you don't want to have to fix the plane for nothing.
Step 6 (optional): Check your service record and note that it hasn't been marked with an additional death. Your K/D might still suck, but at least it doesn't suck more.
Step 7 (optional): Check your messages and note that you haven't been billed for repairs. If you were flying a B-29, celebrate because 51,998 SL saved is 51,998 SL earned.
