So this is a quick easy way to kill things quick and have your magic through the dang roof.
I personally prefer Snakey, (but just about any character with a unique magic is good) for this since he has +5 magic, +3 agility, -2 strength or something & poison on their weapon.
Try to level at least once from the home castle to the first battlefield. Once you do that, upgrade magic/defense from the 2x points you got. Then go to the pet house and grab Giraffe to speed up the process or Beholder. I'd prefer Giraffe for the exp then Beholder once I'm upgraded.
Make your way to the first boss, just juggle and farm as much as you can. I got to the boss as level 7, ended the level at 8 and got about 1.7k exp. I put it all in magic and continued on toward Theives Forest.
Basically just grind exp from the guys along the way until you get to the Troll Boss. I hope you have the boomerang, because you're going to want to keep stunning the trolls until there is a massive pile. Run through those trolls and toss them around until you're about level 10-12. Maybe even 15 if you want!
Go ahead and go to kill the catfish and upgrade your abilities. You want about 20 points in magic, so the upgrade right before the jump boost. The combo (controller) would be X, X, X, Y. If you've got no strength upgrade it should deal just about 90 damage regularly. Though doing this combo makes you vulnerable at times. So to keep the chain going, do the combo X, X, X, Y, Y, Repeat.
