Oh, you actually can't use e-shop cards either unless you link your 3DS account to a My Nintendo account (you can do this online), you might also be able to enter visa funds this way but I don't know because I've only used the website to add e-shop card funds after the in-console entry deadline. (Basically it's a back way to get the funds into your account, though.)

Also, not sure if you use the 3DS any but now until Jan 10, 2023 is the last chance to get the 3DS DAWs : Korg DSN-12, & Korg M01D for 50% off. Korg only goes on sale for 3DS in December and June so this will probably be the last sale it ever goes on. If you get only one of them, I'd recommend DSN-12; it's more difficult to use but it lets you do more unique things.
