Being a father-figure is a serious matter, and your BB is crying. What can you do?

BB will cry after Sam takes damage and especially during close BT encounters (when Sam is grabbed, or is near enough to use the Cord Cutter on one). To manage this, you have a few options:

-Unplug BB and soothe your BB
Looking down after entering compass mode, the game will prompt you to comfort your BB! After unplugging him, the game will also prompt you to "soothe" BB. Do NOT repeatedly tap W as fast as you can, shaking your BB profusely will NOT comfort him. Instead, rhythmically tap W and you will see far better results. If you're not in a particularly dangerous area, Sam can talk to him by tapping the number 5.

-Look and talk to BB
In a lot of cases, simply looking down at BB and talking to BB will bring him comfort. As stated previously, you can talk to him by looking down in compass mode and tapping the number 5 on your keyboard. Sam will say a few different pieces of dialogue, and your BB meter will go up.

-Interacting with BB in the private room
Sam can interact with BB in his private quarters, and tap on his glass pod. In addition to gaining more of a connection with BB, you'll also be treated to special cut scenes on occasion.

Gaining likes from BB is an important aspect when building a strong connection with him. There are a few ways to go about it, and it'll be up to you on how you want to do it.

-Making faces in the mirror
BB will laugh and give Sam likes, after taking a well-timed photo.

-Going fast on a Reverse Trike
Speeding along the open road on a Reverse Trike will cause BB to laugh.

-Running and jumping in a Speed Skeleton
Sprinting and doing long jumps in the Speed Skeleton will cause BB to laugh and give a few likes, so long as the landing is done smoothly and out of a BT area.

-Riding a Zip-Line
BB will laugh as Sam cheers while flying on a Zip-Line.

-Touching a "Good work, BB!" sign
Touching one of these signs will make BB laugh and give some likes, you will likely run into these all over the place, especially on roads.

-Playing the harmonica while resting
Equip the harmonica through the cosmetic menu, and press 5 to start playing; BB will laugh and give out likes.

-Exiting a BT area
After getting far enough away from BTs, particularly after sneaking through the area, BB will laugh and give you some likes for a clean getaway.

Doing these actions over the course of your game will cause BB to grow more affectionate towards you, eventually resulting in the Childminder achievement. Hopefully this guide has helped you become the father-figure BB deserves!
