Getting to the emergency shut off valve without setting anything on fire
This guide is for those who are interested in doing it this way, and who are qualified for working with coolant hazards. If you're not interested, no need to say it. Thank you.

1) Remove the nozzle as you always do and throw it into the barge

2) Grab one of the coolant canisters located next to the nozzle

3) Without letting go of the canister, smash it against the hull of the thruster

4) The canister is now leaking coolant. Place the canister next to the 4 fuel lines and freeze them (don't worry, this will not damage anything)

5) Make sure all four fuel lines are frozen next to their cutting points, then throw the coolant canister into the incinerator

6) Melt the four fuel lines' cutting points with the stinger (unless one isn't frozen anymore, in which case return to step 2)

7) All four fuel lines are now safely cut, you can access the emergency cut off valve without the risk of getting burned :)

8) PROFITSSSS

@D3K43 - Use one or two tethers to pull the cover towards the forward jacks first, or towards the front edge of the Barge if it's on the underside. Once the casing drifts far enough forward, kill those tethers and use two or three to link the BACK end of the casing to the forward wall of the Processor intake. It'll pivot around and slide right in, no problemo.

Quasar Thrusters were such a pain to deal with early-game. Mostly cuz the nanocarbon housing was too heavy for the grapple to move or push, and too unwieldy for tethers. I got those plates stuck between the furnace and processor bays soooo many times lol

The main issue is what happened to me as well; Quasar Thrusters show up way too early, like level 6 or so, and you have none of the tools you need to actually handle the problems involved. Even trying to figure it out in game is a time sink bound to fail. It's not until later that you start to have the skill and tools to counter the problems with these engines.

This is not a safe way....safe way is with demo charges, on the opposite side to split cover to fuel tanks, remove the tanks and then cut pipes as you like, they are empty

This was a well thought out and insightful guide that is accurate and puts safety first.

But...

Time is money! Now, pop that cork and get yer ass in there!

@LordOctopus I've found that you can prevent the crushing if you do the thrusters early while at least one side is still braced against the rest of the ship. It only seems to be a problem when they are free to move easily.

One note: the coolant canisters will be under the removable panel, but not until you're unlocked lvl 2 reactors

You are a genius...It didn't even occur to me you could counter fire by freezing the pipes. Great stuff, thanks for writing this guide.
