Sometimes when I reinstall this game and try to play it, by some magic it's always a hassle to get it to work (saves don't work, resolution messed up, or the game doesn't launch at all).

This is one work around for when your game doesn't launch, after you click on the executable the game doesn't launch but, it shows up in the taskmanager. I found this workaround out some more than a few years ago, gonna post it here for better future.
