This guide does not claim to be 10/10 or the best guide on the Steam platform. The purpose of this guide is to help solve the problems with launching the game, which are often experienced by Steam users. If you still fail to launch the game according to my guide, do not be discouraged. Write in the comments what you did not succeed and I will try to help you as much as I can.

This is quite a strange error, the cause of which cannot be determined. People have different solutions.

• Reinstalling the game helps.
  
• It helps to reinstall Steam or install Steam to another folder/disk.
  
• Exiting steam and launching the game through the shortcut, then everything seems to be tightening up normally.

Before launching the game for the first time, you should run another executable file in the game folder and select your video card.
It can be launched in two ways.

1. Through the "Play" button in the Steam library (maybe there is another way that I don't know about).
   
2. By opening it from a folder.
   By default, the game folder in the following path: "...\Steam\steamapps\common\Runaway A Road Adventure".
   Or through the Steam library: through the properties or right-click on the icon / name of the game.

To solve the problem, we need an amateur utility that works with old DirectX libraries, etc. You can download the utility at GitHub[github.com].

1. To download the utility, you need to go to the page "releases"[github.com] and from there download the current version (it is the top one) of the utility.
   
2. Next, unzip the archive to any place convenient for you.
   
   We do not need to run the utility, since the authors have provided for its use without running the executable file.
3. We need 3 files from the archive. The last file in the list is in the "Stub" folder, which was also inside the archive.
   
   • dxwrapper.dll
     
   • dxwrapper.ini
     
   • ddraw.dll
     
4. Transfer or copy these files to the root folder of the game.
   The default is: "...\Steam\steamapps\common\Runaway A Road Adventure". Or you can open the game directory from the Steam library: through the properties of the game or through the right mouse button on the icon / name of the game.
   
5. Next, open the "dxwrapper.ini" file with any text editor and find the following line.
   Dd7to9 = 0
6. Replace 0 with 1 and save the file.
   
7. Now try to launch the game in the standard way.

You can find more information about the cause of the problem with running old games on the Internet if you are interested in this issue. Unfortunately, I can't give you an explanation.

The following items are not 100% working. These are just the most likely options for solving the problem with a small picture using standard methods.

• Intel[www.intel.com].
  
• AMD[www.amd.com]

In the "dxwrapper.ini" file that we edited before, there is also an option to open the game in full screen. To do this, find the line Put 1 instead of 0, save the file and start the game. Perhaps this will help you. I have not tested this functionality myself.

The utility works for many older games.
