By ArdentCourier
Not a broke ass using 1080p in these modern days? Using 1080p but want a cleaner, sharper, smooooother image? Here's how!

Preparation (stuff needed to be done in-game)
Xrd is developed by ArcSystem Works, a Japanese company, so that already means that this PC port is gonna be wack ass. Read carefully.

First open the game, and go into the Display settings under Config and make sure to select 1920x1080, save, back out, go back in and select Fullscreen.

If you do not do this, you'll be a dumbass as the next steps will not work! For some reason you have to select 1080p and save before selecting fullscreen, so it actually fullscreens in 1080p.

Love you ArcSys.

Whilst you are here, if you have a brain and good PC in this day and age, change the Anti-aliasing in-game to SMAA.

I'd also turn V-Sync off as that can cause input delay, but if your game begins to screen tear (RIP Bozo), turn it back on.

Great, now all you need is a text file editor. You can use regular Notepad, but for this I'll be using Notepad++
REDSystemSettings.ini and you
This here is the juicy bit, this is where we make the game look gooooooooooooooood..
For most of these changes, have a good graphics card. Ill assume you do because you're looking at this guide wondering how to run the game in above 1080p.

First, find where your game is installed and go to \GUILTY GEAR Xrd -REVELATOR-\REDGame\Config.
Now open REDSystemSettings.ini and only this file. If you can't open it, make sure the game is closed, or right click to view Properties and untick "Read Only".

Resolution
Using any file editor of choice, find ResX and ResY (use Ctrl+F) and change the values to:

ResX=(whatever the hell your X resolution is, e.g. 2560)
ResY=(whatever the hell your Y resolution is, e.g. 1440)

Beneath that there is ScreenPercentage. Change it from 80.000000 to 100.000000. This will create an image that actually runs in your set resolution, rather than the upscaled garbage from 80% that it usually is.

If you changed Anti-aliasing to SMAA earlier, find MaxMultiSamples= and set it to 8 or 16 to get a smoooooooooth crispy cream image to look at glorious Potemkin or be a perv and "look" at Jam.

Still think your GPU is good? Go find bAllowTemporalAA= and set it to True from False. This is only really noticeable if you run at a higher resolution. If you change this and run at 1080p, your image may look blurry, but just don't use 1080p okay?

Finally, at a next to no performance cost, find MaxAnisotropy= and set it to 16 for better angled textures.

IMPORTANT
To close it off, once you save, make sure you make the file "Read Only". Whilst not all need to do this for some reason, some do cite this as a fix, and it doesn't hurt to do so anyway. If you use notepad++, right-click the current tab and select Read Only, or in file explorer view Properties and select Read Only.
Way of the SuperSampling
Okay so you do have a good PC? Congrats, I still hope you have a good monitor though, but this can be done with 1080p to create a nicer image.
Don't listen to any of those guides on Youtube on how to "supersample with external programs", that's just daft.

Still in RedSystemSettings.ini (untick Read Only if you did), go back to ScreenPercentage and change it to a higher value such as 125, 150, 175, 200.

Doing this will make you run the game at a higher resolution internally but downscale it to match your current resolution, resulting in a crispy cream image, no matter your resolution (yes, even you sad 1080p users).

You want maths? Okay nerd

Since I run my game in 1440p resolution and have ScreenPercentage=150.000000, internally it runs at ResX=3840 and ResY=2560. This makes the image look f*ck good and pleasing to look at, unlike other ported fg's where I can count the pixels on my screen, since any resolution above 1080p doesn't exist in Japan God forbid.

Note:

if your GPU is good but ain't the best, depending on what you have this may increase input delay, so supersample responsibly and stay in school.

Don't be a dumbass, set the file to Read Only again.
Notes and Results
Congrats! You got this far. Wow, amazing. You get an A for effort.

I hope this guide helped for those who are getting into this game because of STRIVE. Fortunately I managed to get in earlier and had all these changes done on an old system, however the previous guide on how to do this vanished into thin air, so to save myself time and others, wrote this one to replace that.

Anyway, you probably wanna see some pics and be done with this insufferable writing, right? Here ya go:

Damn you steam, why is upload size only 2mb??
Anyway, get lost and get back to mashing.
