ROTT July 1994 Beta

Description
This is the complete set of all 61 levels comprising 4 episodes (plus 20 Comm-Bat maps and several developer test levels) from the ROTT July 1994 beta ("BETA0629") ported to the registered version here in Ludicrous Edition! Only the most minimal changes were made to fix immediate crashes and the most blatant of errors, ensuring an authentic and faithful 1994 beta experience (not including the visuals, audio, code, etc.).

NOTE: Fun and functional gameplay is not guaranteed! Expect broken progression, unbalanced combat, and maybe even crashes! The intended way to play through these levels is Woundless with Weapons, lots of GoTo warping, and a healthy dose of No Clipping on the side!

Known issues that won't be fixed:
  • [Original beta bug] Switch-activated doors are one-time only, notable examples being the locked northwest door in E3A5, the locked Gold Key door in E4A4, etc. Either be quick or use No Clip (SPISPOPD)!
  • [Original beta bug] The Gold Key in E4A3 is inaccessible. The map must have been taller at one point but was reduced in height. Use No Clip.
  • [Original beta bug] Episode 4 lacks a secret exit leading to E4AS, making it warp-only. Curiously, Episode 3 contains two secret exits (one in E3A1 and the other in E3A6), both leading to E3AS.
  • Big elevators don't work, notable examples being the first elevator in E4 Boss, many Battle maps, etc. Unfortunately, it seems the elevator behavior was changed in the registered version to no longer support larger room sizes. Use No Clip.

See the discussion thread I created for this workshop item.

UPDATE: I don't know whether revenant100 himself made the update to the map, but now, that warp-only E2A3 has the silver key. So it can be beaten.

Revenant100, can you confirm whether or not Elevator Trouble (E2AS) has the iron key in it? I tried looking around everywhere and turned on the automap cheat and checked, but it doesn't appear to be anywhere.

Awesome that worked perfectly thanks for the help.

All I've been doing is opening up my RTLX mapset file, making changes, saving, opening up my previously created Workshop Project file (the one I first created and then used to initially upload my map to the Workshop), and then pressing "Upload to Steam". This updates my current item on the Workshop rather than upload a new one. If it helps, I recommend completely restarting the game after you've made your changes to your mapset before you try to open up the Workshop Project and uploading.

I too would like to know how to properly update maps without having to re upload all the time if possible please.

So far, I found that the test map called ROTT E2A3 is the only "regular" type of level (progression, has an exit, etc.) that can't be finished without cheating. It seems they have not put in the silver key into this level, so you must use the keys or noclipping cheat.

It's a completely different level from the actual E2A3 (The Room).
