Downpatching to Restore Removed/Altered Content

On March 27th, 2018 Red Barrels released an update to Outlast 2 that removed some chase scenes and reworked some difficult sections to make them easier.

Steam allows you to download historical versions of games through console commands as long as your account owns the game provided you know 3 things:

- The games Steam ID
- The games depot ID
- The manifest ID for the version of the game you would like to download.

Press Win+R and type steam://open/console

Alternatively, you can open a web browser of your choice and do the same. If you do this, it will ask you to open steam, click yes.
Step 2
Type the following into the console: download_depot 414700 414701 7085410466650398118 and press enter.

For full clarity, 414700 is the Outlast 2 game ID, 414701 is the Outlast 2 depot ID, and 7085410466650398118 is the manifest ID for the patch released on May 10th, 2017

It is unclear how far along the download is, but it will tell you in the Steam console when the download is finished.
Step 3
Navigate to \Steam\steamapps\content. You will find the game in this directory.

Copy and paste the game files into your normal Outlast 2 directory, which should be: \Steam\steamapps\common\Outlast 2

To ensure the game does not update automatically when you try and open this, right click on the Outlast 2 folder -> Properties and make the folder read only.
How to Undo All Changes
Right click Outlast 2 in Steam -> Properties -> Installed Files -> Verify Integrity of Game Files

This will fix any mess ups you may have made along the way. This will also restore to the most recent version if you want to undo any changes you made.

Yeah I need that one enemy Spawn from that one objective where you have to turn on the generator for the Elevator Remember That?

for some reason it does not restore some enemy spawns :(
