How to re-enable Half-Life's shadows (25th Anniversary Edition only)
By Link Freeman
in this short guide, I will show you how to enable back the shadows from the early versions of Half-Life. Note that this would work on the 25th Anniversary Update only.

The guide itself:
Step 1: Open Half-Life's page > Properties
Step 2: On launch options, type this: r_shadows 1
Step 3: Close the window, launch the game. If you do not see any shadows from a model, in game, continue to step 4.
Step 4: Open console, and type: r_shadows 1 (For Steam Deck users, see Step 5).
Step 5: Open the autoexec.cfg in the valve folder on the game's root folder, add r_shadows 1 to the file, save it and close.

Enjoy!

If I remember correctly the steam deck will allow you to add launch options using the touchscreen as a keyboard.
