Vulpes and Vertices: An Idol Collection Guide
By Sudaksis
This guide will help you find every golden fox idol and get the achievements associated with them.

The idols may be collected in any order but this guide will be ordered as efficiently as possible alongside the puzzles themselves.

I will try to show and describe enough contextual information about the surroundings to help you easily find these little devils, (some of them are quite tricky), without revealing solutions to puzzles if they require any. Perspectives and gravity will change throughout the game so I will do my best to show the idols in a normal orientation whenever possible.

If this guide was in any way helpful to your pursuit of idol collecting, please do rate this guide and comment. I would love to hear feedback from you all. :3

The Odd Gods' Entrance (Chapter 2)
Total idols: 6
Achievement: Walked Through a Wall
Achievement: Went Back and Looked Again

1. The game introduces the golden fox idols to you right after you collect the second red fox statue.

2. On the ledge above the doorway you opened by the first switch is a hole to the second idol.

3. On the rafters in the other locked room is an idol.

4. From the last idol you can see one vertical beam along the wall that has a player height section missing. Through the wall is another idol.

5. After collecting the last red fox statue, go to the far wall away from the doorway back to the main hall and climb into a hidden passage. At the other end of the tunnel you can see the idol in the pillar.

6. The final idol to collect in this level is back under the wall with the moving triangular prisms just past where the Monk first talks to you in this chapter.

Tower of Nowhere (Chapter 3)
Total idols: 10
Achievement: There Is No Sky
Achievement: Yes, It's a Teleporter

1. The first idol to acquire is in a larger room right above the TRI you receive. Create a few triangles using the vertical beam to climb upwards and there will be an idol waiting for you, (as well as the name of the game spelled out in triangles).

2. The second idol is in the next room atop the beam.

3. This next idol is hidden behind a triangle you need to destroy down a hole in the next room and may take a few tries to get because you need to grab it while falling.

4. After you exit the crawl space, the idol is in a nook in the wall to the right.

5. Continue upwards as there will be a switch you can flip to open a wall back to the TRI room and another wall across the room holding the next idol.

While you are still in this room, look up the first hole you fell down and make a triangle about two thirds of the way down because you will need to fall down it again to collect another idol.

6. Next to the stairs in the pool room will be an idol in the water.

7. After entering the room past the second red fox statue, behind you will be another idol in a nook.

8. Once you return outside, fall down the first hole again onto the triangle you made before. Looking up, you will find another hollowed out space where the eighth idol is waiting.

9. At the very bottom of the tower where the walkway ends is an idol in a nook.

10. The last idol in this chapter is in a small room at the bottom the tower by idol #9.

Three Sides to Everything (Chapter 4)
Total idols: 15

Achievement: On Top

1. The very starting room in this chapter holds one idol. On the opposite side of the room is an idol in the crawl space in the wall.

2. The next idol is in the hallway obscured by a pillar to the right.

3. Proceeding into the next room, there is an idol in the rafters.

4. A little further into the room is a nook lower in the wall on the right housing an idol.

5. You can make one triangle to get the first red fox statue as well as another idol, obscured by a wall.

6. To the right of the exit is another idol between the walls.

7. In the room full of triangles, there are two triangles left and up at the corner. Use the pre-existing triangles to make a way to climb up to the idol.

8. Below the floor, by the second red fox statue you will find a window with a view of a tree. In the hole left of the window is the next idol.

9. Up and to the left of the final red fox statue is an idol sitting in the windowsill.

10. Proceeding forward, look back towards the pedestal where the last red fox statue was and down below is a nook containing a idol.

11. The next room has two trees and many beams. Behind a pillar next to one of the trees is an idol on the ground.

12. As you make your way up to the stairs, there is a beam high up where the next idol sits.

13. When you reach more pre-existing traingles pointing you to the end, left from the center of the walls is an idol.

14. Up and to the right of the center is a nook higher up. Go up past it until you are on the very top, above the rafters. An idol is placed towards the center of the map.

15. Return to the nook you passed on the way up and fall down the hole to reach the final idol in the chatper.

Overcoming Limitations (Chapter 5)
Total idols: 7
Achievement: Destroy All the Triangles
Achievement: More Statues Than You Thought
Achievement: Even More Statues Than You Thought

1. The game drops you in the direction you should go first. From the switch at the top, go a little higher to where there is a break in the bars and drop onto the beam below to find the idol.

2. The next idol is in the room with the first red fox statue, right below the switch.

3. Go to the portal room and in the ceiling is a hole you need to enter. At the end of the tunnel you can see triangles blocking a hole to reach the room. Clear them and the one on the other side to find the entry.

4. Above the second red fox statue is a large enough space in the ceiling to crawl through to reach the next idol and a quick way back down in the wall behind it.

5. The next idol is in a nook between two doorways leading to the final red fox statue.

6. Behind the crates is another idol.

7. The final idol is above the last red fox statue, much like the previous red fox statue.

The Foxes' Playground (Chapter 6)
Total idols: 12
Achievement: The Fog Couldn't Stop You
Achievement: Caught a Dream

1. Activate both switches along the wall in the starting room to open a timed panel in the ceiling to get the first idol.

2. Straight ahead from the switch in the very bright hole in the ceiling is a nook where the second idol resides. (It is very hard to see in the light, so turning down the shadow quality may help.)

3. After collecting the second idol, keep climbing upwards. Atop the floating prisms is another idol.

4. Between the walls above the Monk is a nook with an idol.

5. You can jump onto the beam below from the switch to find the next idol.

6. Two light barriers deactivated by the last switch lead into the same tunnel, (one and three from the left, for reference). Above the midway in the tunnel is another idol.

7. Above the room with the first red fox statue is an idol on a rafter.

8 and 9. Left from last idol leads to the second red fox statue. After collecting it and making your way back, you will find the room has shifted gravity. There are two idols in this room. One is close to the exit (left set of triangles leads up to it; obscured in the picture) and the other high up (right set of triangles).

10. Continuing upwards leads to a hallway with a path on the left heading towards the third red fox statue. The next idol rests above the rafters in the room with a fog below and the idol will teleport if you get too close to it.

11. Returning to the topmost hallway, the next idol rests in a nook above a rafter at the second turn.

12. The other end of the hallway opens up to the main shaft where you can spot the final idol sitting on a platform.

Unwilling Walls (Chapter 7)
Total idols: 11
Achievement: Up the Wall
Achievement: The Books Didn't Help

1. There is a loose tile in the ceiling in the starting room. Get on top of the room and make your way below to find the first idol.

When you reach the rotating room, place a triangle covering the middle of the hole above. This will help you reach an idol much later.

2. Now, we want the room rotated so the right arrow glows on the D-pad looking thing. Behind the red box in the wall is the second idol.

3. Rotate the room so the left arrow now glows. In the tunnel there are more loose tiles on the left wall concealing another idol.

4. Once you collect the first red fox statue and fall down the hole back to the rotating room, there is a switch and above it is a space you can reach. The next idol is up here.

5. Right at the last idol is a hole to the outside. This part may be a bit tricky but set triangles so you orientate yourself upside-down and look outside. Above the hole, which is now below to you, is an idol stuck on the wall.

6. At the rotating room again, set the room so the bottom arrow glows. The next idol is on the wall that you toss the next red box over. (It's actually difficult to not hit the idol with the box.)

7. Once you collect the second red fox statue, set triangles up the left wall. Crawl to the end of the crawl space at the top and find the nook below where the idol lies.

8. Falling down the next wooden hole is when the triangle you placed before comes in handy to reach an idol.

9. Once you collect the final red fox statue, you can easily jump from the elevator to get the idol on the beam.

10. Now that you no longer need the red boxes, take three back to the wooden room in the beginning to activate the pressure plate and collect the idol.

11. At the very end, the final idol is on the beams above the portal.

5. Now, climb up to the very top of the map. An idol rests by the center hole.

6. Before collecting the final red fox statue at the very bottom of the map, go down the middle platform to get below the lowest platform. There is a wooden hole with an idol inside. You can reach it easily if you orientate yourself upside-down above the hole.

Achievement: Master of the Reflected Light Ray

1. Right behind you at the start is a loose tile with the first idol behind it.

2. Above the crystal wheel is an idol in a nook.

4. In the wooden wall by the third platform is a wooden tile concealing the path to an idol.

5. From the space below the hole in the ceiling further in this room you can see a hole in the wall with an idol inside.

6. Behind the shaft down to the long acid room is the next idol.

7. On the outside of the bottom of the shaft is an idol on a platform jutting from the side closest to the wall.

8. After you find the crystal, in the middle of the halls leading to holes back down, there are loose tiles on both sides of a space with the idol.

Red Means Dangerous (Chapter 11)
Total idols: 11

2. Behind the tile on the ground past the red lasers is the next idol.

3. Once you activate the first wooden bridge(?) to reach the center of the map, look back towards the way you came and place a triangle as low as possible below the opening. An idol rests in a small nook down there.

4. Heading to the room where you need to use the red laser to destroy red boxes, just destroy every box you see for the next few idols. In the small tunnel is an idol in the left path towards the grating.

5. Continue destroying red boxes and there will be another idol in the left path further ahead.

6. Taking the right path, one idol is in a nook.

7. After grabbing the red fox statue on this side of the map, return to the center of the map. Look towards where the red fox statue was and up in a corner to the left is a hole leading to room with a locked idol. Complete the puzzle to remove the bars.

8. Just before the portal room is another wooden wall. Do the same as the last one but with the pressure plate and ride it up to the next idol.

9. In the portal room is a wall with two movable tiles. Get outside and go up to the top towards where the kami originate to find the next idol. (The Monk broke the tiles in the picture.)

9. There is a room you can reach from the ground floor by the other waterfall. Light comes from it and passes along the wall with the giant cog. Across from the entrance is the idol.

10 and 11. Continuing upwards from the last idol to the very top, there are two idols in plain view.

Prisons (Chapter 14)
Total idols: 11
Achievement: Letting It Through
Achievement: In the Darkness No One Hears You Walking on Walls

1. There are a couple of loose tiles in a wall near where you enter the first room. Behind the tiles is the first idol having fun in a pool. (It's actually quite fun to watch it squirm around in the water.)

2 and 3. There are two floating cages outside, both of which contain idols. The right one is easily reached by climbing the tree. The other one, not so much.

4. At the top, beyond the smoke stack, is a small hole with an idol inside.

5. Behind the last idol is a loose tile. The tunnel leads to a puzzle room where an idol lies behind a gate.

6. Outside, on the left side of the map, looking towards the towers, is a protrusion you can fall down onto. Orientate yourself so you can see into the large hole to find an idol suspended in the air and fall in.

7. When you reach the kami receiver, the wall left of it is made entirely of loose tiles. The next two idols are in the dark. Taking the right path will lead to a hole. Down the hole is an idol.

8. Taking the other path will lead to another hole. Around that area, look up to find a space where the next idol resides.

9. Return to the smoke stack with a yellow teleport block and toss it inside it. Teleporting will drop you right onto the next idol.

10. By the unlit crystals is an idol behind a few loose tiles.

11. Above the red laser is the final idol hiding in a nook behind the large branch.

Out of Space and Time (Chapter 15)
Total idols: 12
Achievement: Only Two At a Time
Achievement: The Living Tumbleweed

1. Upon exting the starting room and now outside, there is an idol directly in view that you cannot yet reach. That is an idol for later. The first idol is actual just sitting plainly somewhere on that first little planet.

2. If you take the path of many asteroids, you will wind up on the first floor of what looks like the framework of a building. Go to the far corner of the framework to the right. There is an invisible walkway here that you can find if you move the cursor over the area that will lead to an idol hidden out of view.

3. When you reach the planet with the shifting stripes, one of the holes leads to an idol.

4. On the same striped planet is a tower you need to enter and walk to the open end of to fall back onto the starting planet once more. Gravity has shifted and now you are easily able to collect the first idol you saw.

5. Returning to the striped planet and entering the remaining hole will lead you to a puzzle room with acid pits and a thick white beam of light. (Knowing it is light and thus bendable will be vital for the next few). The first idol to get in this room is at the top of the grid like structure.

6. Angle the light beam down to reach next idol across the pool of acid to be able to reach the idol.

7. And do the same for the one on the other side. (In honesty, I collected these using the crate. Took forever and is not recommended).

8. Lastly, use the light beam again to reach the hole in the ceiling. The idol is sitting behind a light barrier in a room up here.

9. Proceeding in the next room past the red fox statue suspended in the spherical room, there is an idol right on the ground.

10. Remove the loose tile in the wall in that same room to reveal a tunnel. There is a hole in the ceiling in the following room where there are two crystals and one beam of light. Activate them and drop down to collect the idol behind the bars.

11. Before leaving here, there is another idol in the space in the back wall.

12. The final idol (in the game!) to collect is in the last room of the chapter behind the spinning wall.

And that is all of them! The final chapter contains no idols so your work here is finished. :D

Little strange to look back at this nearly 8 year old guide and see that people are still finding it useful. Glad it has been of service! Thank you all for the kind words and positive ratings! :D

Decided to go back and fix a couple grammar issues and replaced every instance of "movable" with "loose" for clarity. Hope everyone is doing well and still finds my little guide helpful. :3

lol Haven't played the game in years and haven't played that level since creating this guide. If I remember right, I think I tossed a crate into the pool and jumped down onto it but I have no idea what I did other than waste an inordinate amount of time doing that XD

Thanks, 6 years later! Just finished the game with 100% achievements :) This guide was super helpful! Just a question though: Chapter 15 #7: how the heck did you manage to get those with a crate?! That idol was the hardest in the game for me and I tried with a combination of crate and beam and eventually got it with the beam. But crate seems impossible O_O

How do you get idol 5 in chapter 14? I'm stuck in the puzzle room and there's no way out until I can solve the puzzle.

Hi guys. Been a while so I'd like to thank those of you generous enough to comment here on the guide. Glad it's still of much use to people! :3

Now, for all you idol hunters out there, I would like to request that, if you have the time, please do review the game as well. Normally I wouldn't ask such of anyone but I feel the devs deserve as much praise as this guide has garnered these past couple years.

Also, happy 2017 everyone!
