How to Obtain the 1000 Damage Achievement (v4.2.5)
By GELeto2
I found this one to be a bit confusing and thought I might share what I learned, and what worked for me in the end.

What Do We Need?
This Achievement requires you to have a weapon with a base damage stat at or above 1000. Mouse over your weapons and it is the stat circled in the image below.

This sounds simple, however many of the things that increase your damage output in the game do not actually increase this base damage stat of your weapons. Perks that increase damage do not, nor do many Turret modifications that have conditions.

Challenges
You'll quickly notice that the weapons that have the highest base damage also tend to have the lowest Firerates. Furthermore, the modifications that offer the highest damage increases also impose additional firerate penalties. While one's first instinct might be to use the Focus turret with it's seven modification slots, I found it impossible to survive long enough with just a single, slow-firing weapon.

As we're after just a few specific modifications, RNG will play a heavy factor in how quickly we can finish the build, so be prepared to survive past Wave 30 and well into Endless Mode in order to pull this off too.

My Build
Let me preface this section by saying that this is certainly not the only build that will work, and better players than I managed to do this with Focus before Endless Mode was even implemented.

Turret: Hotdog
The Hotdog's two Level 4 weapon slots crucially have four modification slots each, and I found that having double the firepower was quite helpful for surviving long enough to complete the build.

Perks: Clover, Eraser, Wrench, Antifreeze
Since none of the Damage perks help us here, I went with Clover and Eraser to get more free Rerolls to help counteract the RNG, Wrench for defence, and Antifreeze for insurance. You can safely replace the last two with your favourite defensive/survival Perks.

Weapons: Nuke and Wavequake
Nuke is the obvious choice here since it has the highest base damage of any weapon in the game. It's slow firerate will get even slower with the modifications we must select however so that's where Wavequake comes in. It's a fast-firing, 360-degree weapon that will keep you safe while you're battling RNG to get those last modifications you need.

Weapon Modifications (Nuke): Damage +90%, Firerate -30%
This is the only one that matters.

Weapon Modifications (Wavequake): Modifications that boost Firerate, Size, and Knockback are most helpful. A bit more range doesn't hurt either.

Turret Modifications: Damage +60% & Firerate -15% to weapons with T-DNA
Again, this is the only one that matters.

Strategy
There's no reason to make this any harder on yourself, so choose Extract Mode and Surface Level. I find starting with the G - Shotgun to be easier in the early levels. Since you're after very specific modifications, you'll want to be ready to install them should they become available, so pickup a single T - Bomb weapon for the other weapon slot right away.

From here on you have two priorities: Get your Wavequake weapon built and upgraded as soon as possible to cover your defensive needs, and keep an eye open for those two rare Modifications we need. If either one becomes available, purchase it immediately, then return to improving Wavequake. Once Wavequake is complete, spam your Rerolls over and over until RNG gives you those precious Modifications.

You will reach 1000 damage on your Nuke before you've filled all the seven Modification slots. If you're close to 1000 damage, feel free to pick a Weapon Modification with a smaller Damage increase, but remember that the other conditional Turret Modifications don't help.

Good luck!
