You need to go to jail and serve a sentence
You need to go to jail and serve a sentence in jail to join the Thieves Guild and then someone will come to you and give you a letter and now you need to go to the Imperial City Waterfront and go to a secret meeting.
Go to a secret meeting in the Imperial City Waterfront
You now need to go to a secret meeting in the Imperial City Waterfront and this meeting is only at night and you need to speak to them and now you need to do a trial to get in to the Thieves Guild and become a Thieves Guild member.
You now do a secret trial for the Thieves Guild
You now do a secret trail for the Thieves Guild to get into the Thieves Guild and become a member you need to steal a jorunal it is a race to steal a journay and now you sjhould be in the Imperial City Waterfront now you need to go steal a journal in a house in the Imperial City Temple District and someone else might get the jorunal before you and if that happens you can still win you can get the book back from going into their house and stealing it back or you can get there in time and when you get the book you need to return it to the secret meeting location to Armand and you will get become a member of the Thieves Guild.
You are now a member of the Thieves Guild and thanks for reading my guide

Sorry and I saw that their was other methods for getting into the Thieves Guild that there was other methods while researching this guide but I did not include them into this guide because I did I did not know about them and never expeircened it and I never knew about the second task and I have 500 hours on the game and I never knew that and I am sorry for not knowing many details about this quest and thank you for the advice

Wow this guide is so craptastic. You think that just because you can write a guide, you should without getting all facts straight??

1) You don't need to serve time, as escaping is also an option. Also you don't need to get thrown into jail at all, as there are 3 other ways to get into the Thieves Guild:
- play detective and ask around about the Grey Fox after reading his wanted poster, eventually the beggars will direct you
- you can get the info from City-Swimmer in Bravil by using the correct dialogues
- you can also just speak to Armand Christophe at night, if you raise his disposition high enough he will drop the charade and allow you to take the test

2) You don't need to get the Diary to get in. If you fail the test Armand Christophe will give you a second chance, where you will be tasked with stealing Rohssan's Antique Cutlass from a A Fighting Chance.

What you are doing is first timer mistakes and you are expecting others to follow your lead.
