Advanced Build Technique: Arcading

In this guide you will be learning how to build a structure with arch details. This design style is known as "arcading." Arcading is a series of arches that are used to decorate a building.

This is a more advanced building technique and this guide makes the assumption that you have a working knowledge of Tiny Glade mechanics and that you know how to manipulate all the controls to create a basic structure.

IMPORTANT: In this guide I will explain the step in text first and then the image under the text will be the visual demonstration of the explanation.

Step One: Create First Box
Create your first box structure, flatten the roof, and make your box into a tall building. Make the building tall enough to be two or three stories high.

Step Two: Create the Arches
Using the path tool, draw a line of path on each side of your building- do this on all four sides. You will see arches appear at the bottom of your building. (This is what you want!)

Step Three: Create Second Box
Make the second structure box (be sure to flatten the roof). However, this one will be INSIDE your first building. (I am aware the image shows the new box being outside of the first one. I am just demonstrating placing the box in the image.)

Adjust the sides so the box you just made fits inside the first box, and then pull the bottom of the box up so it is floating and not touching the path. You must do this so you do not have arches created on the inside box you just made. (Don't worry, we will cover that gap soon.)

Step Four: Pull the Arches Up
Now select the arches you created in Step Two. Grab the arches and pull them up to the middle of your box.

If you get weird arches I call "artifacting" arches, like the image below, we will fix that.

All you need to do is draw a little more path along the side of the box that has the strange arches because a few pixels of path were missing from when you first drew the path. This will even out the path and fix the arches. (I use a small brush for this detail.)

Step Five: Create Third Box
Now add yet another box. (Again, this image is just demonstrating adding another structure box.)

Take your box and push it all the way to the ground, and use the top square of the "squash and stretch" tool to squash the box down. You will see that it starts to create stairs.

I wanted shorter stairs so I squashed them as low as they would go.

Use the arrows to line up the stairs perfectly with the arches so they look natural. (The image below is how I like them to look.)

BOOM! First set of arches done! Now let's make another set of arches!

Step Six: Create Fourth Box
Now you will create yet another box and make sure to flatten the roof! You will place this one just on top of your current build. Bring the walls in so you can see the details from the other boxes clip through the wall. (We want to see those arches.)

You will see more arches form when you push this box into the ground. This is good. This is what you want.

Step Seven: Create More Arches
This part is a little tricky. Grab the box that has the first set of arches you made back in Step Two and pull the building to the side. You need to move it to access the newest set of arches.

Just set the box to the side. The arches will vanish. DON'T PANIC. This is ok!

Now pull the small arches ALL THE WAY UP to the top!

Now bring the other building back and put it back into place. The arches will return!

Re-adjust the building to match everything up, pull a roof up with the top arrow, and below is what your structure will now look like!

Step Eight (Final!): Add Details
Enjoy what you created and add some fun details!

nicely done. Gracias. I am new to this game and learning. You show that its somewhat like making walls in minecraft/ensrouded/ect. multiple blocks thick to create details....just within the rules of Tiny Glade mechanics. I'm gonna go build!
