Best Starter Car in NFS Heat
By Ryan
After creating your character, Lucas offers you 3 used cars to choose from. This car becomes your permanent starter, and you can’t sell it — so it’s important to choose wisely.

So, which one is the best?
All starter cars have the same Performance Rating: 129.

Here’s the list:
1. Ford Mustang '65
2. BMW M3 Evolution II '88
3. Nissan 180SX Type X '96
4. Chevrolet Camaro SS '67, Just a joke from Lucas (you can’t pick this one).

Best Pick: Nissan 180SX Type X (1996)
At first, this car might feel a bit “slow” compared to the Mustang and BMW.
But — it’s actually the best long-term choice, and here’s why:

1. Perfect for Drift Events:
Early in the game, there’s a mandatory drift mission before you can afford a new car. The 180SX is excellent for drift thanks to its handling.

2. Customization Rating: 10/10
You can heavily modify this car, visually and performance-wise.

3. Useful for Longer:
While the Mustang and BMW are slightly better for racing or off-road, they get outclassed quickly once you can afford better cars.
But the 180SX can stay useful as a dedicated drift car for a long time.

The 180sx lacks torque but if you use Cheat Engine + Frosty Editor and find the IDs for the engines you can do some custom engine swaps in the game. Thinking about putting the 2.5 boxer engine from the impreza to see if it helps lol..
