Finding a knife is high priority, it is the most basic survival tool and can be used to defend yourself against mindless people, this includes the zombies. The easiest way to kill a zombie is to crouch and sneak behind them, when right up on their back, quickly right click + left click in that order to assassinate them swiftly, this performs a stealth take-down. If not possible to stealth kill, walking back while aiming with melee weapon or fist allows you to block a hit from them or another person trying to assault you. You will learn basic attacking by training yourself on this with zombies.
Looting them may provide things that keep you alive like food, water, and maybe even another knife. Other players know that zombies don't kill themselves, this will give you away for anyone else coming to loot, so hurry up and move on.
Players often aren't friendly, but if you can find someone who is, your chances for survival will increase exponentially. So I recommend playing nice and keeping an open mind for collaboration.
If you get sick, you can find hospitals on www.izurvive.com and when you do look for Tetracycline Pills for cholera/water sickness. For influenza, stay warm and dry, taking multivitamins should help. Avoid eating uncooked or raw meats for salmonella. Charcoal Tabs can be used to stop poisoning effects. If you use rags to bandage yourself, try to use ones that are in pristine condition and use disinfectants to clean them before use.
www.izurvive.com is great for finding where you are and having direction. to find where you are, look for landmarks or road signs and relate them to where you are in the IZurvive map.
