Achievement Breakdown – Singleplayer Campaign: (46)
Story Related: (28)
Secondary Objectives: (1)
Character: (2)
Collectibles: (7)
Slay: (8)

Achievement Breakdown for the Online Gladiator Achievements will be included in the Sequence they are covered in.*

There are two parts to earning 100% in Ryse, Son of Rome: the Campaign & Online/Offline Gladiator.

The Campaign is pretty straightforward & will teach you the basics of how to play the game & how to deal with the different enemy types. Apart from locating all the Collectibles, we will also have to complete all Chapters on Legendary Difficulty. Legendary Difficulty will turn off all blocking prompts & you must know when to parry & when to evade; we will save it for the very end until we have all other Campaign related Achievements.

Apart from the Campaign, there is the Gladiator mode where we fight off waves of Barbarians in the arena as a Gladiator while completing objectives. A lot of the Achievements associated with Gladiator can actually be earned in Solo play by yourself however, there are Achievements where we need a second Player.

The most notable Achievement in the game is the Master of the Coliseum Achievement where we need to reach Rank 200 in Gladiator. This is a serious grind, no way around it, but there are a few ways to make it easier.

For those interested, here is an organized list of all the Achievements/Secret Achievements. This is how I derive my Achievement Breakdowns & the first reference I create before I begin my 100% journeys.

Guide contains major spoilers*.
Sequence 1: The Fall of Rome
1. Chapter: The Beginning
2. Scrolls: 1/27
3. Vistas: 2/21
4. Chronicle Pages: 9/51
5. Achievements: 7/73
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Start a new game on any Difficulty you like; I recommend at least Soldier Difficulty to nab another Achievement when we beat the game, but it ultimately does not matter. When we beat the game a second time on Legendary Difficulty, we will unlock all of the Achievements for beating the game on the lower Difficulties as well…

Chapter #1 – The Beginning:

Achievement #1 – First Blood: Perform your first Combat Execution.
Story Related. As soon as the game begins, we will be thrown into the action. Follow through with the combat tutorial, & we will be shown how to perform a Combat Execution. Do so, & we will unlock the Achievement.

Scroll #1: After the first wave of Barbarians are defeated, we will have to climb up some wooden scaffolding & witness the next wave of enemies attack our fellow legionnaires.

Before we rush to join them, look to your left while on the scaffold to see a corpse that is glowing green. Approach it, & we can collect a Scroll from it.

Achievement #2 – Letters From the Front: Collect one Scroll.
We will unlock this Achievement after collecting our very first Scroll; there are 27 Scrolls in the Campaign we need to find…

Vista #1: Secure the Roman defence line & break the Barbarian’s assault at the end of the bridge. Organize your defensive formations, & man the nearby Scorpio Turret to fight off the next wave of Barbarians.

After they are defeated, we will end up on the stairs facing the palace. Before you enter it however, turn to look to your left to see a glowing green shield; interact with it to collect a Vista.

Achievement #3 – Roman Tourist: Collect your first Vista.
We will unlock this Achievement after collecting our very first Vista; there are 21 Vistas in the Campaign we need to find…

Valor: As we kill enemies, we will begin earning Xp (Valor); the higher your Combo, the more Xp you will earn. With Xp, we can purchase new Skill Upgrades & Executions; we will need to purchase all available Upgrades eventually…

When we buy Upgrades, we will have the option of using Valor or Gold to purchase it; never use Gold! Gold is very important in game currency used in the Gladiator mode that we need a lot of for other Online Achievements. We should have no issue earning enough Valor over the course of our two playthroughs of the Campaign to be able to purchase all the Upgrades/Executions…

Achievement #4 – To Protect & Serve: Meet Nero.
Story Related. Enter the palace now, & we will unlock this Achievement as soon as we do.

Chronicle Pages #1-3: Enter the palace now & we will link up with the emperor, Nero Claudius Caesar Augustus Germanicus… Follow Nero through the palace, until you reach a closed door that his lordship asks us to open. Before you open it, turn around to look at the doorway we just came through & walk over towards the potted palm plant to the door’s right to see a glowing green bag of scrolls; interact with it to collect the Chronicle Page.

Unlike most Chronicle Pages we collect, the ones found on this Chapter count as three different Pages; this is not the case for the other Chapters. Don’t ask me why they decided to go with this as it is confusing…

Open the doors now & we will have to fight off a group of Barbarians…

Achievement #5 – Something I Found On the Way to the Forum: Collect one Chronicle.
We will unlock this Achievement after collecting our very first Chronicle Page; there are 42 Chronicle Pages in the Campaign we need to find… with an extra 9 Pages that are earned automatically by collecting other Pages… odd, but nothing to worry about.

Achievement #6 – Give Caesar What Is His: Purchase & use an Upgrade in combat.
If you purchased any Skill Upgrades with your Valor such as the Recruit Health Capsule Upgrade, perform any Execution on an enemy & we will unlock this Achievement.

Chronicle Pages #4-6: When the Barbarians have all been slain, return back up the stairs we came down & take a right along the upper balcony (the left balcony from where we entered the hall). Head to the very far end of the upper balcony, & we can find a Chronicle Page in the final alcove up here; this Chronicle Page will give us an extra two Chronicles Pages

Chronicle Pages #7-9: Now head over to the opposite upper balcony across from us & investigate the very first alcove up here to find another Chronicle Page; this Chronicle Page will give us an extra two Chronicles Pages

Vista #2: Continue along this upper balcony now & duck under some tipped over palm plants. Head to the very far end of the balcony & we can find this Vista resting against the pillar dividing the final two alcoves up here.

Achievement #7 – I Have a Story to Tell: Complete The Beginning on any Difficulty.
Story Related. Return back to Nero, & defeat the Barbarian warlord that ambushes us to complete the Chapter & unlock this Achievement.
Sequence 2: Welcome to the 14th, Lad...
1. Chapter: S.P.Q.R.
2. Scrolls: 3/27
3. Vistas: 5/21
4. Chronicle Pages: 15/51
5. Achievements: 11/73
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Chapter #2 – S.P.Q.R.:

Achievement #8 – Forever Lost: Find your mother & sister.
Story Related. When the Chapter begins, we will complete a further combat tutorial while sparing with our father, Leontius. After we finish sparring, our villa will be attacked by Barbarians! Fight them off, & we will find the rest of the family in the courtyard outside…

As a side note, when your Health is currently full, I recommend always having your Xp Bonus Executions active so we can expedite how quickly we can purchase Upgrades & new Executions…

Vista #3: Progress through the Chapter until we encounter the strange woman in gold. When the cutscene ends, we will be in an open courtyard with a sun dial in the center of it. Look off to the balcony to your left, & we can see a Vista leaning against a bench here directly across from the sun dial.

Scroll #2: Go to leave the courtyard now, & as we pass under the exit arch into the shadows, we can find a Scroll out in the open here.

Chronicle Page #10-11: Past the archway, instead of heading down the stairs in front of us, turn right towards a dead end. We can find this Chronicle Page in between a dried-out fountain & an iron bar fence.

This Chronicle Page will give us an extra one when we collect it…

Vista #4: Link back up with Leontius further in the city, & shortly after we do so he will run ahead & hop over a wooden barricade. Before we follow him over, look along the wall to our left of the barricade to see a Vista attached to it underneath a “Cibum Mercator” sign.

Scroll #3: Fight through some Barbarians, until you reach a courtyard with some scaffolding & a pool in its center where some other Legionaries are fighting. Once the area is safe, search the corpses where Leontius is kneeling to find a Scroll in front of him.

Chronicle Page #12-13: Climb up the scaffolding out of the courtyard, & now we have to locate the Senator, Platius. Navigate along the walls, then climb down a different set of scaffolding to continue on. Exit the small room we drop down into, then take a right outside & follow the building’s walls around further to the right to find this Chronicle Page against a wooden wall.

This Chronicle Page will give us an extra one when we collect it…

Achievement #9 – Comboing My Way Through: Defeat 10 enemies in a row without sustaining any damage.
When we locate Platius, we will be introduced to using Pila, the Roman throwing javelins. Using the Pila, we can kill 8 enemies – 6 Barbarian Archers along the walls then 2 Barbarian Warriors in the amphitheater below. When they are dead, walk down & drop into the amphitheater where more Barbarian Warriors will arrive.

If you didn’t get hit at all using the Pila, all you have to do is kill two more Barbarians without getting hit to unlock this Achievement. If you do, you can quit the game & reload your Checkpoint to try again. If you cannot manage to (or do not want to) get this Achievement right now, then it is not a big deal. You will earn it when we attempt the Monstrum Combo Achievement for getting 25 kills without being hit which will require its own deliberate strategy…

Achievement #10 – Time to Fly: Perform your first Environmental Execution.
As we fight enemies & stun them using our shield, you may occasionally see a prompt appear above the enemy’s head that is a white/red skull with a spike down its center denoting an Environmental Execution chance; regular Execution chances are a white/red skull with a sword going through it.

Anytime you see the white/red Execution skull over an enemy that has a spike down its center, quickly follow through with it, & you will complete an Environmental Execution. These disappear quickly, so you have to act fast once you create one – deliberately but most likely accidentally…

There are many situations where the opportunity for Environmental Executions may appear. Stun enemies near walls, objects, ledges, etc. for the most possible chances…

In the amphitheater courtyard, there are lone spikes inset into the walls & if you carefully stun enemies close to them, you have a good chance of creating an Environmental Execution opportunity…

Chronicle Page #14-15: When the amphitheater is clear, we can reunite with Leontius again & we will have to fight off some more Barbarians in a small harbor. When we are tasked with lowering a wooden bridge down to continue, climb up a wooden ledge & get to an upper walkway.

Drop down off the next ledge & take a left into a tall stone corridor. When we enter the first “room” we will see two corpses & blood all over the floor. Look to our right in here & check out in behind a wooden cart with a barrel attached to it to find this Chronicle.

This Chronicle Page will give us an extra one when we collect it…

Vista #5: Cut down the wooden bridge using a Pila & fight through the marketplace to get back to Leontius. Kick open the locked iron gate, & begin walking up the stairs after him in a dark corridor. Near the corridor’s exit, look along the left wall to find this Vista leaning against it underneath a lone wooden shelf.

Achievement #11 – I Will Avenge You, Father: Complete S.P.Q.R. on any Difficulty.
Story Related. Get to the forum, & fight off the last of the Barbarians to clear out the city…
Sequence 3: Shores of Brittania
1. Chapter: Trial By Fire
2. Scrolls: 6/27
3. Vistas: 8/21
4. Chronicle Pages: 21/51
5. Achievements: 13/73
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Chapter #3 – Trial By Fire:

Scroll #4: When we awaken on the beach shore, we will have to climb up onto the hull of a broken ship that has smashed into the rocks in front of us. On the first deck, before climbing up to the next level, look in the left corner near the rocks to find a Scroll.

Vista #6: Climb up to the next level of the broken ship now & immediately look to your left to see a Vista.

Chronicle Page #16: On the same upper deck, look in the center of it to find a hole that we are able to drop down into. As soon we land on the lower deck, turn around to find a Chronicle Page behind us.

As of now, all Chronicle Pages we collect will only be counting as a single page…

Scroll #5: Drop down off the ship now back to the beach, & we will have to assist two Legionnaires in fighting off some Barbarians. After they are defeated, we will have to progress by passing underneath a ruined ship & hopping over a barricade. Before we do, look along the rocks to the right of that barricade, & we can find a Scroll near some wooden rubble close to where we fought the Barbarians…

Chronicle Page #17: Climb over the barricade now, & we will find the next group of Legionary survivors who are pinned down by Barbarian Archers. Defeat the Archers, then drop down out of a ruined ship to defend another group of Legionaries. Before we continue on, turn around to look back at the ship we dropped out of close to the water. Follow the water’s edge along to the right & walk in behind some rocks close to a ruined wooden mast to find this Chronicle.

Chronicle Page #18: Carry on now to rescue another group of survivors from Barbarian Archers. When we hop the barricade, they will switch to axes & we must defeat them all. When the Legionaries are saved, do not press on up the stone steps to the tower yet. Instead, look over to our left passageway blocked by burning debris. Investigate the dark passageway beside the burning one to find this Chronicle.

Vista #7: As we approach the tower, we will have to form a Testudo with the surviving Legionnaires to get across the bridge. Once we are inside the tower, head up to the next floor where we can find the two Chain Locks. Kill the Barbarians we find up here, but do not disengage the Chain Locks just yet.

Instead, head over to the large openings in the tower overlooking the ocean, & we can find this Vista leaning against one of the dividing pillars.

Lower the harbor chain, & we will have to fight off some ambushing Barbarians; attacking enemies near the openings in the tower or where the Barbarian Archers attacking our men near the ledge can give you good opportunities for an Environmental Execution…

Chronicle Page #19: Destroy the tower, & the rest of the army can now approach the shores. Fight with your men & retake the beach. When the beach is clear, we can see a Defensive Formation banner in the sand that marks where we can form a Testudo.

Before interacting with the banner, though we are being shot at by Barbarian Archers, look to the right of the banner to see some Legionnaires hiding behind some wooden barricades. Almost immediately near the barricades, before approaching a soldier, we can find a Chronicle; if you approach a corpse with two Pila on it, you have gone slightly to far to the right along the barricade…

Vista #8: Use the Testudo Formation now & get over to where the Barbarian Archers are at the catapult tower. Climb up to the platform they were shooting at us from, then climb up a second wooden platform. As soon as we get on top of it, look to your left to see this Vista against some barrels.

Chronicle Page #20: Clear out the Barbarian Archers, & we will see another Formation Banner appear. Once again, ignore it for now, & turn around to face the platform we dropped off of where the previous Vista was. Walk over to the lower left of that platform & we can find this Chronicle close by.

Achievement #12 – Head Executioner: Perform 100 Executions in any game mode.
While 100 Executions seems like a lot, it really isn’t in the grand scope of the game. By this Chapter, we will have fought well over 100 enemies, & there is still another five Chapters to go. Executions are the bread & butter of this game, & you typically kill most if not all enemies you come across with them.

Once this Achievement is unlocked, focus your attention next on Double Executions. While fighting multiple enemies, whittle their health down so that you see two active Execution markers at once. Perform an Execution nearby both enemies with the markers to perform a Double Execution where you kill both enemies in a single Execution; we need to perform 50 of these for the Double-Down Achievement.

Chronicle Page #21: Use the Formation Banner now (take your preferred pick of the options) & fight off the next Barbarian assault. When they are defeated, we need to take a path to the right of the barricade our men our currently holding out at.

Hop the barrier in our way, then immediately begin following the wooden rubble walls to the right, ignoring the Legionnaires. All the way around the corner to the right, we can find this Chronicle.

Achievement #13 – Avid Reader: Complete a Comic Book by collecting 6 Chronicles in a Level.
Though we will have technically already completed the first two Comic Books by finding all the Chronicles on Chapters The Beginning & S.P.Q.R., this Achievement only kicks in as of Chapter 3. Find all Chronicles on any of the final six Chapters to unlock this Achievement…

Scroll #6: After collecting the last Chronicle, we will have to fight a large group of Barbarians in a circular sandy area all while we are being bombarded by Barbarian Archers. When the initial attack force is defeated, search the very center of this area where there are two barrels with one having a Pila sticking out of it; look near these barrels to find a Scroll beside them.
Sequence 4: Rome Is Power...
1. Chapter: Trial By Fire, The King
2. Scrolls: 11/27
3. Vistas: 10/21
4. Chronicle Pages: 25/51
5. Achievements: 16/73
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Chapter #3 – Trial By Fire:

Achievement #14 – There’s No Such Thing As Luck: Kill an enemy by Perfectly Deflecting an arrow.
Ahead of us, will be five Barbarian Archers on a ledge shooting at us. Carefully approach them, & do not progress past the final small barricade of barrels. Stand in front of the Barbarian Archers & pay attention to the timing for the “arrow warning”. Continue to time your blocks, & if you are close enough, the arrow will launch back at the enemy – it may hit different enemies than who fired the arrow.

Stick with it, & keep on Perfect Deflecting the arrows back at the Barbarian Archers. When one of them has been hit twice by deflected arrows, they will die, & we will unlock the Achievement. This is definitely an Achievement to pay attention to whenever you can locate Barbarian Archers you can get close to…

Scroll #7: Climb up the platform to scare away the Barbarian Archers, & we will need to use Pila to drop a draw bridge down so we can continue. Head across it & navigate up some stairs at the end of a tunnel to join up with some Legionnaires. At the top of the first set of stairs, we will exit the tunnel & we can see this Scroll off to our right before the next set of stairs leading up to the battlements.

Vista #9: Get up to the battlements now & fight off the waves of Barbarians. Protect the tower catapult from the Barbarian Archers using the Scorpio Turret next, fight off another wave of Barbarians, then defeat the Elite Barbarian Shielder.

When the Barbarian Shielder is defeated, do not order the catapult to fire!

Before we do this, look to the far left of the battlements, across from the Scorpio Turret we manned to see another one with a Vista beside it near a ruined portion of the wall. This could have been collected earlier in our fighting up here if you happened to notice it, but if not, this is the last time you are able to grab it.

Achievement #15 – Saving Private Marius: Complete Trial By Fire on any Difficulty.
Story Related. Order the catapult to fire, & we will secure the seaside fortress & become… Centurian!

Chapter #4 – The King:

Vista #10: When the Chapter begins, follow the small creek along & drop down the rocks to a lower level. From where we land, look straight ahead to the left of the creek to see a Vista leaning against a rock in the sun.

Chronicle Page #22: Drop down another level & we will encounter some Barbarians. Duck under a fallen over tree & we will have a path to the left & a path to the right we can choose. Take the left path under another tree & we will head to a dead end towards a waterfall & a river; search the dead end near a wrecked ship to find this Chronicle.

Scroll #8: Return back to the junction & take the path to the right now further into the forest. Pass through a grotesque tunnel full of dead Romans, & we will exit out near a new waterfall. Here we will be ambushed by a Barbarian Swordsman & we will have to defeat them.

When it is safe, follow the stream down a few steps to find this Scroll in the water, just before it flows over the edge into the larger river.

Chronicle Page #23: Carry on into the woods ahead through a few encounters with Barbarians until we drop down to ambush a group of them near a campfire. When they are defeated, duck under a fallen tree to continue, & as soon as we do, search around a boulder to our right that has a white stag painted on it to find this Chronicle. It is easy to miss.

Scroll #9: Now it is time to get up onto the aqueduct. Get to the base of the aqueduct & climb up some stacked crates in an area full of dead peasantry. After we get onto a wooden scaffold, look to your right before continuing on to find a Scroll.

Chronicle Page #24: Continue along the scaffolding until we eventually encounter a large crate we need to push. Ignore the crate for now, & instead search around the corner of the room near it where we can find this Chronicle Page next to a body.

Scroll #10: Kick over the crate now, & we can take an elevator to the top of the aqueduct where we will encounter some Barbarian Archers. Kill them, then climb up to the ledge they were standing on. Before progressing up the walkway ahead of us, take a right down a different one instead & we can find this Scroll behind some barrels.

Chronicle Page #25: Progress further along the aqueduct & our Roman allies from the 14th will begin their assault. Stop the two Ballista, fight off more Barbarians, & push another crate off an elevator so we can get even higher up. At the top of the elevator, we can see an encirclement of barrels to our right. Hop over some, & we can find this Chronicle in the center of the circle.

Scroll #11: Carry on up a ladder & we will be on a battlement with red flags on it. At the end of the walkway, in between the last two red flags, look off your right to find this Scroll.

Achievement #16 – Who’s That Girl: Meet Boudica.
Story Related. Drop down off the battlement, & we will encounter the Britannian Queen of the Iceni Tribe, Boudica. Boudica will be one of our final tutorials & that will be on how to fight Bosses.

When she is weakened, she will send in Barbarians to clean up the mess; this is a good opportunity to attempt an Environmental Execution if you have not already completed one by stunning the enemies close to the wooden railings…
Sequence 5: Beyond the Wall
1. Chapter: The King, Edge of the World
2. Scrolls: 14/27
3. Vistas: 12/21
4. Chronicle Pages: 32/51
5. Achievements: 18/73
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Chapter #4 – The King:

Chronicle Page #26: With Boudica driven off, we will chase after her & her forces back into the forest where we will need to perform a Defensive Formation to enter into a fortified cave. Proceed into the cave until we break formation.

As we go to scout out the enemy position in the cave, we will sidle into a small cavern that has a skeleton laying on a rock slab in the center of it. Go around to the right of this slab to find a Chronicle behind some rocks.

Vista #11: Carry on to stop the Barbarian Archers & regroup with our men. Do not walk too close to the stone doors at the end of the hall ahead of us, or it will trigger a cutscene!

Before approaching the stone doors, look to the far right of where the soldiers are gathered to see this Vista leaning against the slab that the final burning brazier is on.

Chronicle Page #27: We can then find this Chronicle Page directly across from where the Vista was leaning against the opposite slab with a brazier on it.

Achievement #17 – Trouble In Sherwood Forest: Complete The King on any Difficulty.
Story Related. Break down the stone door now, & we will enter the throne room of King Oswald.

Chapter #5 – Edge of the World:

Chronicle Page #28: When the Chapter begins, walk forward a few steps past the battering ram some Legionnaires are working so that the column of soldiers walks forward as well. After the soldiers have walked a few steps down the hill where they started, turn around & walk in behind them up that hill to the left to see a Chronicle; we are unable to collect it right away as we need to the soldiers to move.

Chronicle Page #29: Return back to the front of the column, & press on into the forest. After we walk up the hill ahead of us, a deer will come rushing out of the mist & startle some soldiers. Continue on a few more paces starting down another hill, & a soldier will mention seeing a different animal in the mist… one running with only two legs.

When we hear this, stop, & begin searching the area to the right of the path to find a dark opening in the forest against some rock walls; a Chronicle will be in the center of the opening.

Vista #12: After grabbing the Chronicle, the column will begin marching double-time & we are able to move much faster. Continue down through the forest until we eventually reach a stone underpass & a wooden bridge crossing a gorge…

Of course, if you couldn’t already tell, this is where we are about to be ambushed. Marius will become separated from the group, & we will find ourselves down at the bottom of the gorge… Jog down the path ahead, & we can find this Vista next to the first lit torch we come across to the left of the path.

Chronicle Page #30: Continue down the path, & we will encounter a hulking Barbarian Berserker near a campfire. Defeat them, & you will notice two separate paths over fallen logs to the left & right of the campfire. Take the leftmost path & it will take us to a dead end at the cliff edge; look to the left here to find a very well hidden Chronicle Page in the bushes underneath a bent over tree.

Scroll #12: Return back to the campfire now & take the right path up the hill where we will immediately get ambushed by more Barbarians. Defeat them, & hop over a fallen tree to enter the next area where some Barbarian Archers will appear near a campsite below us. Before heading down to them, take the upper path along to the right instead, ducking under several fallen trees until the path ends with a bunch of Pila & some dead Legionnaires; the Scroll will be here amongst the dead.

Achievement #18 – Medium Rare: Use an Execution to set fire to an enemy.
This Achievement is easier than it sounds, but it is very situational. On this Chapter, whenever we are fighting enemies near campfires (or just open flame barriers) kite enemies towards them than shield stun them as often as you can pressing them against the fire. If done right (it doesn’t always work) you will get a prompt to do an Environmental Execution; this will involve knocking them into your fire source to kill them, & will unlock the Achievement.

From here on, pay close attention to campfires & make an effort to try for this Achievement… While you can just shield mash enemies into fires, the Achievement only counts if it is specifically an Environmental Execution that causes it…

This will also unlock the Time to Fly Achievement if you do not already have it.

Chronicle Page #31: Drop down now to deal with the Archers; if you do not approach them once you drop down, this could potentially be a great place to attempt There’s No Such Thing As Luck Achievement.

Kill them all, then progress into the cave ahead of us where we can find a Barbarian Berserker earning his own Medium Rare Achievement

When they are dealt with, look back where we came down from & head over to the far right corner close to where the waterfall is to find this Chronicle Page near the cliff wall.

Scroll #13: Free the trapped Legionnaires & we will have to head across a long stone bridge. To our right we can see a large camp below us; ignore it, & instead head up the hill to our left back towards the waterfall. In this area, we can see a large blackened bonfire ring with a Scroll next to it.

Chronicle Page #32: Now drop down into the campsite below & clear out the Barbarians to free the second group of captured Legionnaires. After they are freed, we will be tasked with forming a Defensive Formation. Ignore it for now, & instead run down the flooded canyon to the right of the soldiers where it will end with a Scroll; it is basically pitch black in here & can be hard to see...

Scroll #14: Leave the canyon & now link up with your men to organize the Defensive Formation. Take your pick, & hold off the waves of Barbarians. Drive them off & we can form a Testudo to carry on; do not do this yet!

Ignore your men again, & rush over to the now busted open gates ahead of us where we can find a Scroll immediately to the left on the other side of the gates.
Sequence 6: Spirit of Vengeance
1. Chapter: Edge of the World, Pax Romanum
2. Scrolls: 19/27
3. Vistas: 15/21
4. Chronicle Pages: 39/51
5. Achievements: 22/73
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Chapter #5 – Edge of the World:

Vista #13: Lead the Testudo now behind enemy lines, until you make it through to the swamp. When the Testudo disbands, we can see the Vista dead ahead of us leaning against a tree to the right.

Chronicle Page #33: Push into the swamps & you will quickly approach the next Barbarian camp with Legionnaire prisoners. Free them, & then a second group further down. Before pressing on to the third camp, exit this second one but immediately take a left around the wooden palisade walls to see this Chronicle past some bushes near the water’s edge.

Scroll #15: Press on to the third & final camp, & free the last group of captured Legionnaires. At the back of this camp, we can find a cobblestone hut; search right in front of it to find this Scroll.

Achievement #19 – The Bigger They Are…: Defeat Glott.
Story Related. Get to the wickerman, & we will find Glott; now it is time for our big Boss fight. Glott is more tedious than difficult; dodge his attacks, get in two to three of your own, rinse & repeat.

Achievement #20 – Heart of Darkness: Complete Edge of the World on any Difficulty.
Story Related. With Glott defeated, free the surviving members of the 14th Legion & his royal highness… Commodus. Unfortunately… that was a nice cape too…

Chapter #6 – Pax Romana:

The Siege: As soon as the Chapter begins, we will take part in defending York from the Barbarian army… somehow, they must have known this was going to happen, & had inflatable siege towers just in case…

There will be three waves of the siege we need to complete.

Scroll #16: When the siege is over, we will head down to the city streets where this whole ordeal began… To continue on, we will have to pass through the slums as suggested by a fellow Legionnaire. The entrance to the slums is off our right with red cloth hanging over it; before we pass through, head left close by through a small wooden fence to find this Scroll in front of us.

Vista #14: Enter the slums & follow the street down until it opens up a bit. To carry on, we will pass under a large stone bridge; the Vista will be in plain sight near some burning barrels off our left.

Chronicle Page #34: Continue a few paces down the street past the bridge above us, & we will see a sign reading “Taberna” with a jug above it. It is a tavern. Enter inside it through a doorway off our left, & we can find this Chronicle on the floor near a backdoor.

Scroll #17: Climb up a ladder onto a wooden platform above us, & we will see some Barbarian Archers attacking a barge full of civilians trying to escape. Before we drop off the platform to help them, quickly head around the left side of the platform & around a corner to find this Scroll.

Scroll #18: Get to the canal & defend a barge full of civilians as it tries to escape. With that done, we will eventually enter into a large burning building with more civilians trapped inside. Rescue them, then drop down into the street below. Before we do anything else, turn around to look back at the burning building & walk down the street to the left of where we dropped down to re-enter the building; we can find a Scroll inside.

Chronicle Page #35: Leave the burning building now & head straight over to the waterfront again. Before we climb on top of the bakery, we can enter inside it through an open door near the wharf where we can find a Chronicle Page on the floor near an oven.

Chronicle Page #36: Continue to support the barge as it makes its way down river, & we will reach a large bridge where the Roman soldiers need help. Before taking control of them, take a left past a wagon in between two buildings to find this Chronicle on a wooden balcony.

Scroll #19: Get across the bridge using a Testudo Formation, & climb up to the scaffolding above. From where we get up, hop over a wooden barrier off our right & climb down a ladder back to the ground. Follow a walkway down to the water, & head underneath the bridge we just crossed to find this Scroll.

Chronicle Page #37: Drop down into a communal laundry washing grounds, & head over to the far left side where there is some bloodstained white canvas over top some crates. Climb on top of it, & use it to get up to the short building roof. Follow this area along to the left, & we can find a Chronicle Page near the railing at the back.

Chronicle Page #38: Take the ramp out of the laundry grounds, & we will witness an overlook of York ablaze. While here, take the dead end path off our right to find this Chronicle Page.

Vista #15: Take the left path now up another ramp, & look off our right before climbing up a ladder to find this Vista.

Chronicle Page #39: Get to the courthouse, & link up with Commander Vitallion. Exit out the backside of the courthouse & Vitallion will command us to take charge of the defence force. Before we do, head around to the left of where we exited the courthouse to find this Chronicle Page in behind a crate.

Achievement #21 – Inner Demons: Find out what really happened to your parents.
Story Related. Fight off the Barbarians from the courthouse & hold off the army while everyone else escapes York… we will be defeated, however that is not what the Gods have in store with us. Damocles…

Achievement #22 – Siege Me If You Can: Complete Pax Romanum on any Difficulty.
Story Related. Rise from the waters of York, & we will complete the Chapter as well as unlock this Achievement.
Sequence 7: The Sword of Damocles
1. Chapter: The Wrath of Nemesis
2. Scrolls: 23/27
3. Vistas: 19/21
4. Chronicle Pages: 45/51
5. Achievements: 25/73
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Chapter #7 – The Wrath of Nemesis:

Scroll #20: As soon as the Chapter begins, we will exit into a courtyard with crying civilians & many crucified people. Turn left, then left again, to pass in between two market stalls to find a civilian crying in front of a dead soldier; this soldier is carrying our Scroll.

Chronicle Page #40: Leave the courtyard & we will walk up a short wooden ramp. Before we climb up the scaffolding to carry on, we can drop down off our right into a small overlook area of the harbor where we can find a Chronicle Page.

Chronicle Page #41: After we kill a group of Praetorians in a large amphitheater, carry on until you encounter a second group in the garden area with a tree in its center. When the Praetorians are defeated, head around the garden to the right & we can hop in between some tree pots to find this Chronicle Page.

Chronicle Page #42: Climb up some ladders to leave the garden, & we will have to fight off more Praetorians using a Scorpio. Fight through the plaza below us, & break through a gate to continue on. As soon as we enter the next garden with a satyr statue in its center, immediately search off our right to find this Chronicle Page hidden around the corner.

Scroll #21: Climb up some stone ledges & we will come across a massive dumping site for civilian bodies. As soon as we drop down amongst them, look off your right to find this Scroll.

Vista #16: Climb up a ledge to get out of the corpse pit, & we will encounter a Vista in our way along the path; it is hard to miss.

Scroll #22: Return to the streets & we will encounter a man who will speak with us about the state of the city. Walk down to the end of the street, & we can see the entrance to Titus estate. Do not enter it yet, & instead continue down the street further around to the left to find this Scroll underneath a drab stall.

Achievement #23 – From the Dead: Become the righteous hand of vengeance.
Story Related. After a black smithing montage & some… adult entertainment, we will need to gain entry to the tournament. After meeting Basilius, he will make us prove our worth by fighting here in the club… entering the arena will unlock the Achievement.

Vista #17: Very easy to miss! After we play gladiator, we will be taken down to meet up with Basilius in private. This is an extremely difficult Vista to get as, for as soon as the elevator stops at the bottom, you will have only 3 seconds to grab it before a cutscene starts.

As the elevator is descending, keep rotating in circles looking for the Vista. When you start seeing a doorway emerge as we descend, look immediately across from it to find the Vista against the back wall of the elevator; the Vista can still be collected as the screen slowly fades to black!

Vista #18: After meeting Basilius face to face, we will take another elevator down into the bowels below the colosseum, make your way along until you see the sunlit stairs leading up to the surface. Before taking them, turn around & walk behind us to find this Vista lying flat on the ground near a stone column.

Chronicle Page #43: From the Vista, navigate around the cages & tables to get to the far-right corner of the underground to locate this Chronicle Page.

Vista #19: Enter the arena now, & we will have to survive the beach landing of Dover. Before we drop down off the platform into the flooded sand pit, head up some stairs to your left to find this Vista on a small viewpoint.

Scroll #23: After defeating the initial wave in the Dover landing arena, before you go to burn down the barricade, head around the left side of the ship we dropped off of to find this Scroll in the water.

Chronicle Page #44: Clear the upper level of the first arena, & we will be tasked with lighting the Victory Brazier. Before we do this, head over to the far right of the Victory Brazier & we can hop over two stone blocks to find this Chronicle Page.

Chronicle Page #45: In the next arena, we will have to fight our way to the aqueduct. As soon as the set changes, walk down the first ramp but do not drop down just yet. At the bottom of the ramp, in between the two blue canvas sheets, we can walk around a planter made of logs with a broken tree in it to find this Chronicle Page.

Achievement #24 – Never Give Up, Never Surrender: Defeat Commodus.
Story Related. After we complete the second arena, we will have our boss fight with Commodus himself. Contrary from what we are used to, we can block Commodus’ “red unblockable” shield attacks to stagger him – that & his vertical sword chops. Time your blocks well, & you can demolish him. Commodus must be defeated with parries before we can attack him; if you attack first, he will counter us & do massive damage.

In round two… we will have to take on Commodus’ entire stunt team. Now we are seeing double.

In round three we will be poisoned, & have to take on another two of Commodus’ stunt team as well as himself. It is a bit misleading since this is all a quick time event, but you must time your blocks to Execute the enemies not use your Shield Bash (because the prompts make the enemies glow yellow). Defeat them, & fight Commodus one last time to kill him.

Achievement #25 – Ave, Caesar: Complete The Wrath of Nemesis on any Difficulty.
Story Related. We will unlock this Achievement at the same time we do the previous one when we defeat Commodus & complete the Chapter.
Sequence 8: Ryse
1. Chapter: Son of Rome
2. Scrolls: 27/27
3. Vistas: 21/21
4. Chronicle Pages: 51/51
5. Achievements: 32/73
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Chapter #8 – Son of Rome:

Chronicle Page #46: After the initial Scorpio section at the start of the Chapter, walk up some stairs & get debriefed by one of our soldiers. Before continuing on, hop over a wooden barricade off our left & we can find this Chronicle Page at a dead end.

Scroll #24: As we continue along, we will witness a Legionnaire crawling along on fire, & we will be attacked by some Barbarians. In this area, we can kick open a gate off our right & we can find this Scroll down some stairs off our right.

Scroll #25: Drop off a platform & take a wooden ramp down into the forum area, & head directly across from the bottom of the ramp to hop over a stone pillar blocking the street. Past here, we can find a Scroll.

Chronicle Page #47: Hop back over the stone pillar & head over to the right of the wooden ramp we came down to find a wooden barricade. Use our sword to break it down, & we can find this hidden Chronicle Page.

Chronicle Page #48: Continue further through the forum, & we will reach a Defensive Formation. Ignore it, & head over to the right of the large archway to duck under some wooden debris where we can find this Chronicle Page.

Vista #20: Approach the line of Roman soldiers in the forum to continue & they will move up ahead. As soon as we pass them, look off our left to see a set of stone stairs leading away. Head up them, then hop over another stone pillar off our left. Climb up a ladder to some scaffolding, & we can find this Vista.

Chronicle Page #49: Use the Defensive Formation now, & clear the rubble blocking our way to continue. After we inspire a Centurian to do his job, we will be in a triage area for Roman soldiers. As we approach the stairs ahead of us, head over to the left of them & we can pass through a red curtain into an alcove where we can find this Chronicle Page.

Scroll #26: Head up those stairs now & continue on to Riverside. Before we exit through another large arch at the far end into the city, look along the left wall to find this Scroll underneath the final red etched wall engraving.

Vista #21: Fight your way over to Riverside, & use the Scorpio to knock over a cauldron of pitch onto a force of Barbarians attacking our men. Once that is done, a soldier will open up the gates for us to continue onwards. Head through the gate, but hop over some wooden crates off your left to access a small area where we can find our final Vista.

Achievement #26 – Photo Album: Collect all 21 Vistas.
If you have been following along with the guide, we will unlock this Achievement after we collect the 21st Vista.

Note that you can go back & collect any missed Collectible by re-following the first few Sequences of this guide during our Legendary Difficulty playthrough…

Chronicle Page #50: Drop off the wooden rubble to exit Riverside, & continue straight ahead (not left up some stairs through an arch). Up ahead, we can find a group of civilians, as well as this Chronicle Page in the far right corner at the bottom of a set of stairs leading to a blocked gate.

Chronicle Page #51: After using Pila to defend some pinned down soldiers, we will drop down into the central causeway. Before we approach the burning streets ahead, take a right instead towards an archway blocked by wooden debris. To the right of this arch, we can find a gate to kick open that leads to a small alcove with a fountain & some dead civilians. Cut down a wooden barricade, & we can find our final Chronicle Page.

Achievement #27 – Finders Keepers: Collect all 51 Chronicle Pages.
If you have been following along with the guide, we will unlock this Achievement after collecting the 51st Chronicle Page.

Scroll #27: Progress ahead through the burning street & we will have to use a Scorpio to defeat Boudica’s War Elephant. After it is taken down, drop down off some broken stairs but turn around & head behind where we came down to find the final Scroll at a dead end near a wooden fortification.

Achievement #28 – Ancient Scholar: Collect all 27 Scrolls.
If you have been following along with the guide, we will unlock this Achievement after we collect the 27th Scroll.

Achievement #29 – Not My Type At All: Defeat Boudica.
Story Related. Carry on & we will engage in our final boss battle with Boudica. Perfect blocks are essential for defeating her… pay attention to her attack combos as we will need to be on our A game for when we fight her again on Legendary Difficulty…

Achievement #30 – Settling Old Debts: Complete The Son of Rome on any Difficulty.
Story Related. Walk down the long hallway & Execute all Praetorians standing in our way… at the end, we will kill Emperor Nero…

Achievement #31 – Veni, Vidi, Vici: Complete the game on any Difficulty.
Story Related. We will unlock this Achievement after completing Chapter – Son of Rome.

Achievement #32 – My Empire of Dirt: Complete the game on Soldier Difficulty.
Story Related. If you played the entire Campaign on Soldier Difficulty or higher, we will unlock this Achievement after beating the game.

If you played on Casual Difficulty, then we will unlock this Achievement as well as all other Difficulty related ones when we beat the game on Legendary Difficulty.

Sequence 9: Legendary Legionnaire
1. Chapter: The Beginning, S.P.Q.R., Trial By Fire, The King, Edge of the World
2. Achievements: 40/73
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

With our first playthrough completed & all the Collectibles located, it is now time for us to Replay all of the Chapters on Legendary Difficulty; you can also go back & collect any missed Collectibles while you are at it as well. Choose to Replay the Chapters on Legendary Difficulty & not start a new Campaign on Legendary Difficulty as doing so will let us unlock another Achievement…

On Legendary Difficulty, enemies deal significantly more damage to us & we will also not see a red highlight when they are about to do an unblockable attack. This means you really have to pay attention to enemy animations. With how much more damage we will be taking, I would recommend always keeping your Health Bonus on for Executions. Unless you are at full Health & confident in keeping your Combo, then swap to the Focus Bonus as using Focus is definitely a lucky strategy later on in the game.

As a final note, Recruit Executions will give us 0 Points/Health & you must get Soldier or higher for any Execution to count!

Chapter #1 – The Beginning:

Achievement #33 – Been There, Done That: Replay any singleplayer Chapter.
If you have not already done so previously, as soon as you start replaying a Chapter that you have beaten before, you will unlock this Achievement.

Achievement #34 – I Have a Story to Tell (Legendary): Complete The Beginning on Legendary Difficulty.
Story Related. Simply beat this short Chapter on Legendary Difficulty, & we will unlock this Achievement.

Chapter #2 – S.P.Q.R.:

Achievement #35 – Marketer: Get in combat with all 98 Executions & 36 Upgrades purchased.
Over the course of our first playthrough, you should have earned enough Xp to purchase at least 75% of all Executions & Upgrades. How you’ll know you have enough Xp is by reaching Singleplayer Rank 9 – Tribune. Scroll through each tab of Upgrades & Executions & make sure every single one is purchased.

Then once this is done, you just need to kill an enemy with all Upgrades & Executions purchased to unlock the actual Achievement. You are almost guaranteed to reach Single Player Rank 9 by the end of our Legendary Difficulty playthrough.

Achievement #36 – I Will Avenge You, Father (Legendary): Complete S.P.Q.R. on Legendary Difficulty.
Story Related. On this Chapter, we will be introduced to Barbarian Shielders; if they cause you too much trouble, spam heavy shield attacks to keep them stunned. If you have the time for it, throwing a Pila into their shields will instantly destroy them making these enemies much easier to fight!

Chapter #3 – Trial By Fire:

Achievement #37 – Saving Private Marius (Legendary): Complete Trial By Fire on Legendary Difficulty.
Story Related. There will be a few sections where we need to use Pila to kill Archers attacking our men. Since it now takes two Pila instead of one to kill an enemy, these sections are much more challenging to complete. Stick with it, & fortunately there is only one section that may give you some trouble…

Chapter #4 – The King:

Achievement #38 – Trouble In Sherwood Forest (Legendary): Complete The King on Legendary Difficulty.
Story Related. On this Chapter we will begin to encounter Barbarian Swordsman; these ones at least are basic & can be stunned after parrying their combo. We will also have a boss fight with Boudica who acts as an Elite Barbarian Swordsman.

When dealing with her, block her combo then dodge her ending unblockable attack. As soon as you do, immediately follow up with a heavy shield bash to stun her & you can get in two hits. Rinse & repeat… it’s a bit tedious but ultimately not that difficult. If you are aggressive, you can stun her with a heavy shield bash before she even attacks… Note that dying to the Barbarians at the end of the fight with her will revert you back to having to fight Boudica again!

Chapter #5 – Edge of the World:

Achievement #39 – Double-Down: Perform 50 Double Executions in any game mode.
If you made attempts to perform these during the first playthrough, try to focus on doing so further during our second. Whenever you encounter regular Barbarian Warriors, try to whittle two of them down & wait until they are both close to you to perform a Double Execution.

If you do not earn this during our Legendary playthrough, do not worry, as this can easily be done during our Multiplayer grinding!

Achievement #40 – Heart of Darkness (Legendary): Complete Edge of the World on Legendary Difficulty.
Story Related. We will encounter our final new enemy type on this Chapter, the Barbarian Berserker. Similar to most enemies giving us grief, just spam your heavy shield bash to perpetually keep these guys stunned. Cheap & effective. These are the most dangerous out of any enemy on Legendary as they do a lot of damage to us!

Glott can be pretty annoying to defeat. Dodge his combos, but don’t waste time with your shield & instead lead with a heavy attack & a regular attack; you will only ever have time for two strikes. We also have to defeat Glott in a single health bar as there is no way for us to regain health at all during the fight.
Sequence 10: My Life For Rome
1. Chapter: Pax Romana, The Wrath of Nemesis, Son of Rome
2. Achievements: 45/73
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Chapter #6 – Pax Romana:

Achievement #41 – Siege Me If You Can (Legendary): Complete Pax Romanum on Legendary Difficulty.
Story Related. At the very beginning of the Chapter, we will have to hold off the Barbarian siege along the walls. Each of the three Siege Towers that arrives will essentially take out 1/4 of the Roman’s health leaving you with only 1/4 of it left by the end of the siege – this part can be tricky if the Barbarians overwhelm you. Just prioritize kicking down the ladders as they arrive & use your Archer Volleys to clean up the Barbarians. The rest of the Chapter is not noteworthy.

Chapter #7 – The Wrath of Nemesis:

Achievement #42 – Ave, Caesar (Legendary): Complete The Wrath of Nemesis on Legendary Difficulty.
Story Related. This is definitely the hardest Chapter in the game & has many difficult stages. For the first bit, we will be fighting Praetorians; fight them defensively & do not let yourself get boxed in by them. The Praetorians constantly use unblockable shield attacks that can stun lock us. As soon as we collect Pila, make a point of throwing them at any Praetorian Shielders to get rid of their shields – it makes fighting them so much easier.

When we enter the Basileus’ arena, try building up your Focus to at least one bar for when the two Elite Gladiator Swordsmen appear at the end to easily dispatch them. The same goes for when you are in the Colosseum as well. Try building up your Focus bar when it is safe to do so for emergencies.

Lastly, the Commodus boss fight; once again, since we cannot heal at all during this boss fight, we must do the enter thing in one try. We will fortunately get Checkpoints between each of his phases however! For the first phase, only attack Commodus after you parry one of his own.

For phase two, we will have to fight Commodus’ stunt team; you will know which one is Commodus as he will perform that unblockable attack if we accidentally strike at him. The strategy is still the same. Wait for them to attack us, parry it, then perform two counter attacks of our own. Rinse & repeat. It is impossible to not get surrounded, but if you can, try not counterattacking a Double if another is close by them as they will most likely step in to block us.

Damaging Commodus before we kill his Doubles will do no damage to him. Commodus’ health bar will only appear (back at full) after all his Doubles have been killed. What’s worse, is there is no Checkpoint & if we die against him, we have to fight all the Doubles over again! But fortunately once again, the strategy is still the exact same! Parry, attack twice. Parry, attack twice.

Phase three is short & easy. After we are poisoned, simply parry the attacks of the final two Doubles & we will kill them in cutscenes. Dying to them will reset us back to this point again so you do not have to worry. We have one final fight with Commodus while he is at half health. Again. Parry, attack twice. Parry, attack twice.

Chapter #8 – The Son of Rome:

Achievement #43 – Settling Old Debts (Legendary): Complete The Son of Rome on Legendary Difficulty.
Story Related. This Chapter is not nearly as bad as the previous one, but there are some tricky moments one of which being where we need to use Pila to help some pinned down soldiers along Riverside. Since it takes two Pila to kill a single enemy & that we cannot perform any Executions to regain health, the Barbarian Archers should be your main priority. If possible, aim your Archer Volleys at them. When the Barbarian Archers are taken out, you can just use Quick Throw to deal with the leftover Barbarian Warriors.

Then, it will be time for the Boudica boss fight. Unlike Commodus, there is no gimmick to easily dispatch her. She is the ultimate challenge of the game & you really have to be on the ball with Perfect Parrys & reading her attacks. For her three hit combo, you most perform a Perfect Parry to riposte her – we can then get in three attacks. For her leaping unblockable attack, roll out of the way, & you can get one attack in. If you fail to roll or a Perfect Parry, you can follow up with one attack as well.

Unfortunately, Boudica has a phase two, though we will regain all of our health. Boudica gains a five hit combo that ends with an unblockable attack that we must dodge or Perfect Parry which we can follow up with one attack. She also has a slam attack where she rams her swords into the ground which we must dodge. Otherwise, the rest of the fight is identical to phase one. What makes Boudica so difficult… is if we die during phase two, we have to re-beat phase one as well. Both of her phases have to be done in one go!

Defeat Boudica, & we will be in the home stretch. Kill Nero, & we will finally have beaten all Chapters on Legendary Difficulty!

Achievement #44 – Bad to the Bone: Complete the game on Centurian Difficulty.
Story Related. We will also earn this Achievement as well as it is retro-active or you may have already unlocked this if you played your first playthrough on Centurian Difficulty.

Any Chapter:

Achievement #45 – Monstrum Combo: Defeat 25 enemies in a row without sustaining damage.
If you were lucky, you may have unlocked this Achievement accidentally while playing through one of the two Campaign runs. If not, we will have to go for it deliberately – play on Recruit for the easiest time. There are many different strategies for earning the Achievement:

Chapters – The Beginning or S.P.Q.R.: These are good Chapters to attempt this since all the enemies are Barbarian Warriors with no special units. S.P.Q.R. is good as if you kill all enemies at the start of the Chapter without getting hit, you can earn the rest you need by killing the waves of Barbarian Archers with Pila at the amphitheater. Cons are failing means you have to restart the whole Chapter.

Chapter – Pax Romanum: During the private arena fight for Basilius, in the second wave, we will have to fight “the Killers of Carthage” which are made up of two Gladiator Warriors & one Elite Gladiator Shielder. If you do not kill them using Executions, they will just keep spawning. Do not get hit, & just melee them to death over & over again until you reach 25 kills. Cons for this one are, you have to beat halfway into the Chapter before this point.

Gladiator (Offline): Lastly, & potentially most effectively we can also earn this Achievement in the Gladiator game mode. Certain Objectives will give us infinitely spawning enemies if you we do not complete them that we can farm kills. I will cover this method in a bit more detail in the next Sequence…

Story Related: (8)
Secondary Objectives: (4)
Character: (3)
Collectibles: (6)
Slay: (4)
Online Co-op: (2)

With the Campaign completed, all that is left for us now is to begin the Online Multiplayer component of the game, Gladiator. Fortunately, if it is not really your thing, you can earn the majority of these Achievements in Solo. Though some Achievements are Online mandatory… Disappointingly, we still fight Barbarians even though it was already proven to us they have Gladiator sprite assets in Pax Romanum...

To start, choose Custom Match, & go to the Solo tab. Dying during a Solo Arena will result in losing the entire Arena & you will have to start it over from the beginning.

At the start of every Arena, we will be given the choice between four Gods: Jupiter, Mars, Apollo, & Diana. We need to complete 10 Arenas to earn a Gods Reward. We need to earn all four Rewards for the Champion of the Gods Achievement. Unlike in the Campaign, each God is also associated with one of the four Execution Bonuses as well…

As we playthrough Gladiator, make a habit of building up as high of a Combo as you possibly can. The higher your Combo, the more it will multiply the Xp you will receive to Rank up. Building a high Combo is the key for when we are going to be grinding Xp to reach Rank 200 for the Master of the Colosseum Achievement.

Solo – Barbarous:

Monstrum Combo Opportunity: One of the best places to earn this Achievement is during the Objective – Use the Oil Cauldrons. Do not complete it, & instead clear out the initial wave of Barbarian Warriors, Shielders, & Grunts. Then Barbarian Grunts will spawn three at a time infinitely, & since they are Grunts, they die in only three hits. Just farm 25 of them to easily unlock the Achievement.

Achievement #46 – Uh, He’s Already Got One, You See: Complete Barbarous.
Story Related. Complete all of the Objectives in the Solo Arena – Barbarous & defeat the Barbarian Leaders to unlock this Achievement.

Achievement #47 – Colosseum Recruit: Complete your first Multiplayer Campaign.
Story Related. Complete any Arena, & we will unlock this Achievement when we get to the Playlist Complete screen.

Solo – Invictus:

Achievement #48 – Step Right This Way!: Use a Trap to kill an enemy.
While this Achievement may have unlocked for you during the Campaign, it is much easier to unlock during Gladiator. Starting on this Arena, we can find pressure plate Spike Traps that if an enemy walk on, it will kill them. Simply kite a Barbarian over one of these pressure plates, & we will unlock the Achievement.

Achievement #49 – Bloody Centurian: Defeat 100 enemies in Multiplayer.
If you are playing Solo, this will most certainly unlock for you during this Arena or the next one – we will be killing thousands of enemies on our way to Rank 200…

Achievement #50 – Build A Bridge Out of Her: Complete Invictus.
Story Related. Complete all of the Objectives in the Solo Arena – Invictus & defeat the Barbarian Leaders to unlock this Achievement.

Achievement #51 – Only the Finest: Equip your first Rare Item in Multiplayer.
As we complete Arenas, we will be earning Gold which we can use to buy Booster Packs that have new gear for our Gladiator. There are three levels of Booster Pack we can purchase: Copper, Silver, & Gold. Silver will give us 1 Rare Item & Gold will give us 3 Rare Items.

For Tier 1, we can either buy a Silver Pack for 400 Gold or a Gold Pack for 600 Gold. Buy one of the two, & equip a Rare Item we receive; the Achievement will unlock when we enter an Arena with it equipped.

Our next milestone is reaching Rank 5 so we can purchase Tier 2 Booster Packs – try saving at least 1200-1800 Gold so we can buy a Silver or Gold Pack…

Solo – Beacon:

Achievement #52 – Mmmm, Beacon: Complete Beacon.
Story Related. Complete all of the Objectives in the Solo Arena – Beacon & defeat the Barbarian Leaders to unlock this Achievement.

Solo – False Gods:

Achievement #53 – You Shall Put No Other Gods Before Me!: Complete False Gods.
Story Related. Complete all of the Objectives in the Solo Arena – False Gods & defeat the Barbarian Leaders to unlock this Achievement.

For whatever reason, this is the last of the Arenas that has an Achievement associated with completing it…

Solo – Courtyard:

Arena Environment #1 – Courtyard: For the Colosseum Warrior Achievement we need to fight on all 11 different Arena “Environments”. We can only complete so many during Solo, & the rest we will complete when we switch to Online…

Solo – Sandstorm:

Arena Environment #2 – Sandstorm: Complete the Arena – Sandstorm to fight on this Arena Environment.

Achievement #54 – Say Hello to My Little Friend!: Equip your first Tier 2 Item in Multiplayer.
When we reach Rank 5, we can now purchase Tier 2 Booster Packs. For this Achievement, we need to buy & equip any Tier 2 Item; it does not have to be Rare. This will run us 600-1800 Gold.

The Achievement will unlock when we enter the next Arena with a Tier 2 Item equipped.

Solo – Oasis:

Arena Environment #3 – Oasis: Complete the Arena – Oasis to fight on this Arena Environment.

Solo – Revolution:
There is nothing to note for this Arena, complete it if you like.

Solo – Obelisk:
There is nothing to note for this Arena, complete it if you like.

Solo – Garden:

Arena Environment #4 – Garden: Complete the Arena – Garden to fight on this Arena Environment.

Achievement #55 – Grace of the Gods: Unlock the first Reward of the Gods.
If you have been using the same God since the start of Gladiator, we will unlock this Achievement after completing our 10th Arena. Now, switch to a different God to begin working towards its Reward…

Solo – Market:

Arena Environment #5 – Market: Complete the Arena – Market to fight on this Arena Environment.
Sequence 12: Gladiator (Co-op)
1. Arena Playlist: Defence of Rome, Teamwork, World Tour, The Frontier
2. Arena Environments: 11/11
3. God Rewards: 1/4
4. Approximate Rank: 17/200
5. Achievements: 57/73
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As of now, you can farm out the final 3 God Rewards by playing another 30 Solo Arenas over & over again, or you can switch over to Online Arena; either option is fine. Regardless, we WILL need to do Online at some point. It is only ever with one other person, so if you can play with a Friend that would be the easiest thing to do… Feel free to ask for partners in the Comments Section of the guide.

For Online Arenas, they all come in Playlists – each Playlist contains three Arenas we have to complete. Since there are 21 Playlists, they are all just different Arena combinations most of which we have already seen on Solo but there are a few unique ones. It should also be noted that an Arena Playlist only “counts” as one Arena match towards our God Rewards, & does not count all Arenas within it individually.

For our initial purposes, we only need to complete certain Arena Playlists to witness the remaining Arena Environments.

Online – Defence of Rome:

Arena Environment #6 – Castle: Complete the Arena – Castle to fight on this Arena Environment; it is the third Arena in this Playlist.

The other two Arenas in the Playlist are Garden & Market.

Achievement #56 – Brothers In Arms: Perform a Co-op Execution.
As you fight alongside your Co-op Partner, you will get Execution prompts that you can both engage in; for a Co-op Execution, you’ll see a skull with two swords through it. Even if your partner does not perform it with you, if you engage the Co-op Execution you’ll still unlock the Achievement.

Achievement #57 – It’s Just A Flesh Wound: Revive another Player 3 times.
Unless your Co-op Partner is an absolute pro, they will most likely go down a few times over the course of playing Online. Whenever they do, just walk up to Revive them; it is fortunately instant. Do this 3 times naturally as you play (or deliberately) & you will unlock this Achievement.

Online – Teamwork:

Arena Environment #7 – Rabbit: Complete the Arena – Rabbit to fight on this Arena Environment; it is the first Arena in the Playlist.

Arena Environment #8 – Wickerman: Complete the Arena – Wickerman to fight on this Arena Environment; it is the second Arena in the Playlist.

Online – World Tour:

Arena Environment #9 – Arch: Complete the Arena – Arch to fight on this Arena Environment; it is the first Arena in the Playlist.

Arena Environment #10 – Stronghold: Complete the Arena – Stronghold to fight on this Arena Environment; it is the third Arena in the Playlist.

Online – The Frontier:

Arena Environment #11 – Black Forest: Complete the Arena – Black Forest to fight on this Arena Environment; it is the first Arena in the Playlist.

Achievement #57 – Colosseum Warrior: Fight on all 11 Multiplayer Arena Environments.
There are many different Arena Playlists you can play in various orders to find all the 11 Arena Environments. Some can be found in Solo, but all can be done in Online. The hardest part is a Playlist won’t tell you what Arenas are in it. But, after you have played on them all, you will unlock the Achievement.

Technically, this is all we needed to do for the Online Arenas (though we still have Online Survival) & we can swap to different game modes if you want. If you & your Friend want to, feel free to complete all 21 Arena Playlists… We still need the remaining God Rewards, 1000 Executions, & of course working our way up to Rank 200.
Sequence 13: Gladiator (Survival)
1. Arena: Courtyard, Firestorm, Dockyard, Island, Forbidden Forest
2. God Rewards: 2/4
3. Approximate Rank: 17/200
4. Achievements: 66/73
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

To change things up, you can switch over to Survival Mode. These function the same as the Online Arenas & we unfortunately cannot do them Solo. The biggest difference however is it is just endless enemies coming after us & there is no end until we die. For the bulk of these Arenas, we need to survive for at least 7 minutes!

The hardest part about Survival is that our health drains over time & the only way to regain it is by performing Executions. As the match continues, we will steadily begin losing health faster. Be aware of where enemy Catapults, Barbarian Archers, & Health Shrines can be found. If you see difficult enemies like Elite Barbarian Swordsmen or Barbarian Berserkers, do not hesitate to use your Focus Ability; I recommend having Apollo for the Health Regen bonus as well as the “slow time” power!

Typically, if you fail an Arena or Arena Playlist, it will not count as a victory towards your God Reward. On Survival however, there is no definitive end, & dying (even in the first few seconds) will still count as a point towards your current God Reward…

Survival – Dockyard:

Achievement #58 – We’ll Never Survive: Play a Round of Survival Mode.
Complete a game of any Survival Arena to unlock this Achievement.

Achievement #59 – Oh, Let Me Have A Little Bit of Peril?: Survive for 7 minutes in Dockyard (Survival Mode).
Hold out for at least 7 minutes on Dockyard to unlock this Achievement; in my opinion, this is the easiest of the three Survival Arenas... which becomes a very important point later on.

Survival – Courtyard:

Achievement #60 – You Were In Terrible Peril: Survive for 7 minutes in Courtyard (Survival Mode).
Hold out for at least 7 minutes on Courtyard to unlock this Achievement.

Survival – Firestorm:

Achievement #61 – No, It’s Too Perilous: Survive for 7 minutes in Firestorm (Survival Mode).
Hold out for at least 7 minutes on Firestorm to unlock this Achievement.

Achievement #62 – Colosseum Veteran: Complete 20 Multiplayer Campaigns.
Story Related. We will unlock this Achievement after completing 20 Solo Arenas, Arena Playlists, or Survival Arenas; individual Arenas in an Arena Playlist do not count.

God Reward #2 – Strength of Apollo: If you have completed 10 Arenas/Playlists while using the favor of Apollo, you will receive this God Reward Shield.

Survival – Island:

Achievement #63 – Survivor: Play a Round of Survival on Island.
Complete a single game on the Island Survival Arena to unlock this Achievement.

Achievement #64 – This Is My Island: Perform 30 Environmental Executions on Island.
Once again, for Environmental Executions, you need to look for the Execution skull icon that has a spike through its head. Deliberately fight enemies near the edge of the arena near the water; ideally, fight right beside one of the spawn bunkers. Then just deliberately shield bash/beatdown enemies near the water & perform an Environmental Execution knocking them into the water. It is actually very simple & can be done in a single round if you’re lucky. These must be actual Environmental Executions & not Environmental Kills!

This does not need to be in a single session & is earned cumulatively!

Survival – Forbidden Forest:

Achievement #65 – A Walk In the Park: Perform 30 Environmental Executions in Forbidden Forest.
This is a much trickier Achievement to do, but the concept is the same as the previous one. For this Achievement we will be relying on the spike walls primarily & it is much more chaotic; this may take you a few rounds to accumulate enough Environmental Executions. When the Barbarian Archers & the Artillery show up, things can become very difficult to juggle trying to get the Executions & surviving. Once again, these must be actual Environmental Executions & not Environmental Kills!

If you can get 10 Environmental Executions per round, then it won’t be too bad to grind.

Achievement #66 – Trueblood: Perform 1000 Executions in Multiplayer.
This will come naturally as we playthrough Gladiator Mode & work towards reaching Rank 200…
Sequence 14: Are You Not Entertained?!
1. Arena: Dockyard, Revolution
2. God Rewards: 4/4
3. Approximate Rank: 200/200
4. Achievements: 73/73
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

With all previous Achievements unlocked, all we really have left to do is begin our long grind to Rank 200. There are a few different strategies, but it all amounts to earning/keeping a very high Combo; the higher your Combo, the more Xp you will earn.

Though the Goddess Diana gives us an Xp Bonus per Execution, Apollo has the best Focus Power & can be extremely useful for maintaining our Combos. Whenever difficult enemies like Swordsman, Elite Swordsmen or Berserkers arrive, use Apollo’s Focus Power to slow down time to Execute them.

Try equipping gear that has high Xp bonuses as well as bonuses for Focus.

Survival – Dockyard:

The first method & most “user friendly” way to farming Xp is playing the Dockyard Survival Arena. With no Barbarian Archers or artillery to harass us, we can simply focus on fighting enemies & building/maintaining a high Combo. Try to build a Combo of 200-500 as often as you can & try to survive for at least 20 minutes a round if you can; if you are adept at the game, you can earn at least 10+ Ranks per round.

This does require having another Player with you, so if you have a friend that is also grinding towards Rank 200 or is just kind & wants to help you out, then this will work. Have your partner fight in a different area of the Arena (but not too far away in case one of you goes down) to divide the enemies so you don’t get overwhelmed. Really focus on maintaining a high Combo, & if too many swarm you or difficult enemies arrive, use Apollo’s Focus Power to slow down time & Execute them. If you can earn 10+ Ranks per 20 minutes session, it will take you around 20 runs of Dockyard to reach Rank 200…

While you do not have to be performing Legendary Executions every time (performing a Recruit Execution will not ruin your Combo), Legendary Executions WILL increase the amount of points added to your Combo. Each Soldier move is worth 1, Centurian is worth 2, & Legendary is worth 3 points to your Combo.

This was the method I chose, & I spread it out over a few weeks with my friend only playing for an hourish (3 runs of Dockyard) at a time for sanity. I got pretty good & was able to net 10-20 Ranks each Dockyard run.

Any Solo Arena:

If you do not have a partner to farm Ranks with (or just don’t want to do that method) then we will have to do this on Solo Arenas. I am not the greatest authority for this method, but test out different Arenas & try to find ones that have infinitely spawning Barbarian Grunts that we can use to Combo chain. Find where they spawn, then camp & eliminate them. The key for Solo is using Taunt to prolong your Combo as well as time stopping Focus powers (Apollo) to deal with difficult enemies to not lose your Combo.

Solo – Revolution:

Alternatively, we can use a tried & true pre-established method on the Revolution Arena. Use the first enemies we encounter to build up your Focus, then get to the point where you need to use a Scorpio to kill waves of enemies. Instead of using the Scorpio, dismount it, & prepare to fight the Barbarians manually. Taunt is essential for prolonging your Combo in between waves & using Focus can help you not get hit.

For the research/reference, I used Hendog’s Stuff’s video & they go over the strategy in much more detail than I do. If you use their video to help get you to Rank 200, be sure to leave a Like on it as well as a Comment to let them know; it really helps!

Gladiator Mop Up:
Regardless of the strategy you use, we have the last batch of Achievements we will earn along the way to Rank 200.

God Reward #3 – Measure of Mars: If you have completed 10 Arenas/Playlists while using the favor of Mars, you will receive this God Reward Gladius.

God Reward #4 – Canopy of Diana: If you have completed 10 Arenas/Playlists while using the favor of Diana, you will receive this God Reward Shield.

Achievement #68 – Champion of the Gods: Unlock all 4 Rewards of the Gods.
Anytime you have completed 10 Arenas/Playlists with a God Power, we will earn a unique Tier 1 reward. Unlock all 4 of these God Rewards, & we will unlock this Achievement; you do not need to equip them.

Achievement #69 – Son of Vulcan: Equip your first Tier 5 Item in Multiplayer.
When you reach the milestone of Rank 90, we will be able to start buying Tier 5 Booster Packs. They will cost a minimum 1400 Gold for a Copper Pack & up to 4200 Gold for a Gold Pack.

Equip a Tier 5 Item, & we will unlock the Achievement when we enter the next Arena.

Achievement #70 – Simply the Best: Achieve Rank 100 in Multiplayer.
We will unlock this Achievement after we reach Rank 100.

Achievement #71 – Big Bling: Equip your first Tier 6 Item in Multiplayer.
When you reach the next milestone of Rank 120, we will be able to start buying Tier 6 Booster Packs. They will cost a minimum of 1500 Gold for a Copper Pack & up to 4500 Gold for a Gold Pack.

Equip a Tier 6 Item, & we will unlock the Achievement when we enter the next Arena.

Achievement #72 – Best of the Best: Achieve Rank 150 in Multiplayer.
We will unlock this Achievement after we reach Rank 150.

Achievement #73 – Master of the Colosseum: Achieve Rank 200 in Multiplayer.
We will unlock this Achievement after we reach Rank 200.
Conclusion:
Ryse, Son of Rome is a pretty fun game, & graphically, still looks incredible for a game released in 2013. Apart from the grind to Rank 200 in Gladiator, this isn’t really a challenging 100%; the grind itself isn’t hard either, just can be tedious. But if you enjoy the gameplay repetition it can still be fun. My only complaint about the game is it was too divided between Singleplayer Campaign while also trying to have a function Online component; the Campaign is short & there isn’t a lot of variance in the Online. If the Online had a bit more content… or at least re-skinned the enemies to look like Gladiators, it would have been nice. Regardless, 100% only took me 35 hours to complete with the majority of that time spent grinding towards Rank 200.

Oof, around 2-10 hours maybe? All depends on how good you are at maintaining a high Combo which in turn nets you higher Xp. All Co-op Achievements beside getting to Rank 200 are pretty straightforward & can be done in a single play session or two. You can actually earn the bulk of the Gladiator "Online" Achievements in Solo mode where you jsut play by yourself.

For the Co-op specific Achievements you just need to do stuff like Reviving your buddy, performing a Co-op Execution, playing on a few Co-op specific Arena Maps you can't access in Solo. Then there are the Survival Achievements which are unfortunately Co-op exclusive; a bit tricky, but also not too time consuming at the same time.

Playing Survival & building "mega" Combos is the best way to earn Xp to grind to Rank 200, but there are also Solo runs to grind Xp. Much less optimal, but if you are not Online oriented, it is still definitely achievable.

Out of curiosity, how long would you say it need with a buddy?
Cynic 0055  [author] 17 Jul @ 5:32pm
They potentially meant it's impossible because of how grindy it is; Master of the Coliseum is pretty gnarly & time consuming. But NOT impossible, especially if you have a buddy to grind with. I actually 100% this game earlier this year & it actually wasn't too bad in my opinion. I have a few good Xp farming strategies listed in Sequence 15 when I cover it. :RyseHelmet:

Thank you for the fast answer! I saw a post on reddit steamachivements (or something like that) that was talking about the game being impossible to complete because of the multiplayer. I really need to get back to this game soon! Wishing you an amazing day mate!

Take my "Thumb up", my "Favorited" and my "Hot Take" award. :sharpe::armellocrown:

Yeah, so far I have done 3 maps. It's not as hard as I thought it was going to be. I think I was overestimating the difficulty because I just done the campaign haha, and yeah, being able to do it solo (majority of it), it fantastic. Mean's I am not relying on a friend or a coop buddy to be awake when I am, XD.

Currently, rank 4 almost 5. I'll get there!!! haha!
