My AMD can support dx12 and my driver says it's up to date but the latest Windows 10 update was dropped in 2022. If I upgrade my system to 11, would it unlock driver updates I assume?

This might be a little late, but I have AMD R9 390 Series. I'm getting the same error, but I am still running Windows 10. I'm almost positive my computer should easily be able to run DX12, but do you know if I might just need 11? Maybe 10 can't run dx12?

First, I want to thank you for this fix from the bottom of my heart. I had looked everywhere to find a solution only to find this hidden gem by scrolling down the page.

BUT..... is any one else having the fatal error prompt after Sephiroth removes Jenova's statue? I've ran the game three times for it to crash at the same spot every time.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE someone give me the fix so I'm not left stranded barely 2 hrs into the game

I upgraded to an RTX 4060 and still got this DX12 error. Found out I was on an old version of Windows (version 1903) instead of the latest 22H2, which prevents the graphics card from fully updating the drivers it needs. Had to go find and install a BIOS update file for my motherboard. This is hands down the most effort I've ever had to go through to play a game I bought.
