Description
ATTENTION!!! BEFORE PLAYING THIS CUSTOM LEVEL, BEWARE OF THESE TWO ISSUES REGARDING THIS LEVEL,

- Avoid throwing ANY weapons at ANY enemies! Avoid executing enemies with broken weapons, improvised weapons, or other weapons that allows you to get a free execution! These action could be linked to a game breaking bug that causes melee, unarmed, and ranged weapons to suddenly stop working after an extended period of time!

- Be aware that some mods do not work too well with this custom level. Mods that replace vanilla enemies with new ones can cause unexpected issues within the level and have the potential to break or halt progress within the level.



Anyways, Hello there! what you see here is my first ever attempt to use the scene tools in MADNESS PROJECT NEXUS, and what better way to make a custom level for MADNESS PROJECT NEXUS than to push the scene tools to its absolute limit. Although this is only a DEMO, I figured I'd show y'all a small portion of what I have in store for this custom level.

One of my favorite things to do in MADNESS PROJECT NEXUS is to see how many rounds I can survive in arena mode before dying, but every now and then I can't help but get a bit burnt out fighting the same enemies over and over again with slightly more health every 3 rounds. If you feel the same way, then this custom level might be just for you! This DEMO contains 15 rooms, packed to the brim with enemies with a bloon-tower-defense-style escelation of difficulty.

With all that being said, Do not expect to beat this on your first try. Not only could this custom level push you to your absolute limit, but it could also take you about 1 hour to completely beat this depending on how strong your character is. (unless you have a 50+ imprint origin, then you'll probably blaze through it without breaking a sweat.)



WHAT TO EXPECT ON FULL RELEASE:

- 100 floors to put your combat skills to the test, each being unique visually and fundamentally.

- interesting lore and characters for people interested.

- completely polished and free from any game breaking glitches that would ruin the experience. This addon will not see the light of day otherwise.



WHEN TO EXPECT THE FULL RELEASE:

- No later than MADNESS day 2025. If for any reason something happens that changes this date, it will be updated here.



I will also be posting videos regarding my progress on my YT channel for anyone who is interested in that sort of stuff as well. The next devlog is set to release may 17th, where I will show off new floors and discuss the future of this custom level.

Any and all feedback and bug reports are essential to molding this custom level to being the best it can be, especially since with the amount of stuff that I'm adding, tweaking, and removing from the custom level inevitably introduces new bugs and issues. KNOWN BUGS:

- melee and unarmed attacks randomly and suddenly stop working around floor 11 and higher. If the supposed cause is to be believed, fixing it is currently beyond my capabilities as of right now, and all I can do warn people and find workarounds.

- AI pathfinding is completely broken in some of the rooms, and unfortinutely it may also be caused by another glitch. Trying to fix this one as well is currently beyond my capabilites as of right now, and the only thing I can do for it as of right now is to find work arounds to make it the best that I can.

Yeah, that's a bit of a strange one. I've heard about NEM messing with the camera and whatnot, but I've never really used NEM so I can't say for sure whether or not that's the cause. I'd say give validating the files a try and if that doesn't work, try until installing and reinstalling the game. Regardless, it'll definitely be something I'll be looking into.

for some reason whenever I try to boot up the level my camera gets all stuck and it focuses the road
even if I interact with the sewer grate thing it just breaks and doesnt take me anywhere
I have the NEM pack addon but I dunno if its conflicting with something and have dunno how to remove it :steamhappy:

heh, idea. make dame dame guy in the arena mode and go up the tower with that.. (also god imagine if there was a tower scaling madness rougelite)

I have absolutely no clue. I haven't been able to trigger the glitch in a good little while, but I'd say throw stuff at enemies and execute them with broken weapons at your own risk.

Just flat out an amazing mod despite there only being 15 floors so far. "Only" makes it sound like it ISN'T an entire hour's worth of content somehow. That is genuinely insane you could even do that! Every arena is damn awesome! Some of which I will admit look 10x cooler than anything we ACTUALLY got in MPN. What's more amazing is you had so little to work with and yet it all comes off as so genuine and original, the enemy types compliment the arenas (Odium in the pit arena gave me a straight run for my money). They actually have unique geometry and layouts! Stars above lava, Mags shooting at you from afar whilst you duck for cover.. God this is perfect.

Also I love John Hireling, he is funny as hell and I hope he's either the final boss or the reason you DEFEAT the final boss. This is actually my new favorite mod of all time and it isn't even done. Thank you for making this and even if you never finish it, this will still always be my #1
