Introduction
Urban Myth Dissolution Center is a visual novel game with a bit of adventure elements. The game mostly focuses on a story with some investigation elements in between. The investigation part is divided into two: social media research and exploration similar to point-and-click games played without mouse.

Social Media Research


The social media research part requires you to interact with interesting post or use your glasses to find new keyword that can be used for another search. You technically can interact and use glasses to all posts that you can find, although it will take a long time to finish. However, this will ensure that you won't miss anything. Sometimes, interacting with posts will lead to a new entry to your Urban Myth list, which tells some sort of a creepypasta. In order to progress the game, you need to find some clues hidden beneath the posts, which will require you to also use your glasses to notice any hidden keyword that you can use to do another search. Sometimes, you only need to use one keyword to search, other times, you need to use two keywords to find a match.

Exploration


The exploration part requires you to interact with all objects and talk to everyone in the area. Using your glasses will reveal shadows, which retells past events. You might need to go back and forth between these to find clues and progress the story. Talking to people and interacting with all people sometimes will require several attemps, but choices that you have already chose will be dimmed to make it easier.



Profiling and hypothesis will also be done in the exploration part. Upon talking to some people or obtaining enough information, you will be able to trigger this. Just click on the panel on the left side to attempt it. You need to either fill the blanks or answer a question to finish the process. Since the game is linear, answering wrong will do nothing, and you'll be able to answer again.

Episode Flow


Each episode follows the same route: investigation > identification > investigation > dissolution. Identification is basically a process to determine the urban myth, while the investigation will consists of the social media research and exploration part. As for the dissolution, it's there to conclude the whole episode and reveal the truth of what happened. There are six episodes in total, but you'll get a tutorial case in the first episode in addition to the main one.

Basically, you can just finish the whole game playing on your own and choose what you think is right. However, if you still need guidance or just want to cut some time, especially on the social media research part, you are free to look at this guide.

Episode 1: Eye in the Darkness
Cursed Chair
After the lengthy cutscene, you'll be tasked to find a research note. Interact with all objects on the screen and then come back to the director. He'll ask you to use your glasses. Do that and you'll be able to find the notes from the shadow near the bookshelf. Take off your glasses and give the research notes to the director. He'll ask you to inspect the chair afterwards—do as he says. The next task is to perform a hypothesis.

Hypothesize: What is the nature of the chair's curse?
Maybe there's a mechanism in the [chair's seat] [that jabs you with a needle], then [injects a necrotizing poison]

After you show your brute strength, you'll be forced to join the Urban Myth Dissolution Center. Meguriya, the director, will give you a book and ask you to profile him.

That's it! Meguriya will ask you to join Jasmine for a case after you are done.

Eiko's Urban Myth (The Man Under the Bed)
Eiko's Urban Myth - Day 1 Investigation

After meeting Jasmine, she'll teach you to do a social media research of the urban myth. You basically just need to interact with the posts to find the relevant ones. You can interact with all posts, but if you only want to find the important ones, I listed it down for you below.

You'll arrive at Mio's place shortly after. Talk to Jasmine twice and choose both options. A "Supportive (?) colleague" panel will show up. Click on it to do a profiling on her.

Do what Jasmine says: say hello and investigate. Your first hello comes to the girl next to Jasmine, Mio (clues 1/8). A "Good friend" panel will also show up. Click on it to do a profiling on Mio.

Talk to the girl to the far right afterwards, Eiko (clues 2/8, clues 3/8). Click on the "Famous big sis figure" panel on the left side too.

Use your glasses. Interact with the shadow near Eiko. Do the same to the pair of legs to the far left. Nothing more to do here, so take off your glasses and talk to Jasmine. Now you can do a hypothesis for the "Who was the shadow at the entrance?" panel.

Hypothesize: What memory is this shadow showing?
Maybe this is a memory of [Eiko-san] [running away] with [Mio]?

Doing that hypothesis will give you a clue (clues 4/8) and allow you to do another hypothesis for the "Where did the shadow come from?" panel.

Hypothesize: How did the shadowy figure get in?
Maybe [there is a route] that [leads in] [somewhere within the room]?

You'll get another clue (clues 5/8) for solving that one. Talk to Mio and then check the room to the left of her, the bathroom (clues 6/8). Do the same for the exit door to the left (clues 7/8). After that, move towards the bed and check it. Talk to Eiko and she'll talk about the toilet seat in the bathroom as well. There's only another possible exit left to search: the window curtain. Once you do that, you'll end up having to talk to Mio and Eiko again about what the police said (clues 8/8). Your journal will be updated after the last clue.

Inspect Mio's bed. You'll find a creepy doll (clues 1/8). After that, peek under the bed to find your first clue (clues 2/8). Talk to Mio about the creepy doll (clues 3/8). Well, talking to Jasmine and Eiko won't give you any more clues, so use your glasses. Check on the shadow near the bookshelf on the far right (clues 4/8). Check on the shadow near Mio's bed to get another clue (clues 5/8). You'll be able to hypothezie on the "Mio & anomaly - connection?" panel.

Hypothesize: I wonder what the Man Under the Bed is trying to do...?
Maybe he wants [to suddenly] [appear in front of you] [and scare you]?

Doing that hypothesis will give you a clue (clues 6/8). Do the other hypothesis on the "Prevent anomaly from reappearing" panel.

Hypothesize: How could we prevent the Man Under the Bed from appearing?
How about [blocking] [the space under the bed] with [furniture]?

Interact with Mio's shadow on the floor, then take off your glasses and talk to the real Mio. After that, talk to Eiko to ask about who the man under the bed is. You'll get a clue, but it won't be tracked in the game. Confirm the ex-boyfriend with Mio to get the actual clue (clues 7/8). Lastly, interact with Mio's bed and fill it with furniture (clues 8/8).

- Episode 1: Eye in the Darkness (3)
Eiko's Urban Myth - Day 3 Investigation

A new place at least. You'll go to Eiko's Place this time. Talk to Eiko and exhaust her options (clues 1/4). Interact with the desk next to Eiko. You'll be able to ask Eiko about who the man would be afterwards (clues 2/4). If you use your glasses, you'll find some ghosts that you can talk to, although they won't matter for the main story. Regardless whether you decide to do it or not, talk to Mio and exhaust her options once you're ready to leave this place (clues 3/4), (clues 4/4).

You'll arrive at Mio's place. Talk to Jasmine for a clue (clues 1/7). After that, interact with the fallen books on the floor (clues 2/7). Check the shelves next to it for another clue (clues 3/7). You'll be able to do a hypothesis on the "Think about fallen bookes" panel.

Hypothesize: Why are the books scattered on the floor?
Maybe they [fell from the shelves] [for some reason], [before the room was splattered red]?

You'll get another clue for finishing that hypothesis (clues 4/7). Use your glasses. Interact with the shadow near the shelves. You'll get a clue but it won't be counted on the counter. Head to the far left and interact with the shadow with one eye for another clue (clues 5/7). You'll be able to do a hypothesis for the "Whose shadow at entrance?" panel.

Hypothesize: What is the shadow near the entrance doing?
Maybe the traces show him [taking] [a picture] [after the room was splattered]?

Doing so will net you another clue (clues 6/7). Interact with the shadow with one eye again for your last clue (clues 7/7).

You'll find yourself at this place again at night. Do as the director said and head to the far right. Another event will come through and you'll soon be tasked to do another social media research.

You'll be back at Mio's place. Talk to both Mio and Eiko, then use your glasses. Interact with the centipede-like shadow near the shelves, the shadow under the bed, and the shadow carrying an axe. Cross-check it with Jasmine and then ask Mio and Eiko about the ceiling space (clues 1/3). Do the "How did the man enter the room?" hypothesis.

As soon as you reach your destination, Umeki Flats 104, interact with the tatami mats to the left of Jasmine and the window to the right of her. You'll notice someone else on the far right. Talk to Jasmine afterwards. Check on the camera on the left and greet Kinoko. Do a profiling on him through the "Eccentric client" panel.

Return to the window and interact with it. No dice. You need to use your glasses. There will be two shadows here. Interact with the one near the window first (clues 2/8), (clues 3/8). Do the hypothesis on the "What happened during the stream?" panel.

Hypothesize: Who was the ghost who appeared in the stream?
Maybe he saw a [humanoid ghost] who [was outside the room] and [reflected in the mirror behind] Kinoko-san?

You'll get a clue (clues 4/8) from solving that one. Next, check on the shadow to the left side of Jasmine. Take off your glasses and talk to Unai to confirm about the ghost (clues 5/8). You'll be able to do a profiling and hypothesis now. Do the profiling first through the "Haunted house?" panel.

Another clue will be obtained after you finish the hypothesis (clues 6/8). Inspect the tatami mat for another clue (clues 7/8). Lastly, talk to Kinoko for your last clue (clues 8/8). It's Identification time! That was fast.

After the cutscene ends, you’ll be in front of the Umeki Flats again.

Check the door to Room 104. No one answers. Turn to the right, and use glasses on the closed window (clues 1/7). Talk to Unai again (clues 2/7). You’ll now be able to enter the room.
Once inside, use your glasses and examine the two shadows, one by the entrance and one by the tatami mat (clues 3/7), (clues 4/7). Talk to Kinoko to trigger dialogue and get another clue (clues 5/7).
Check on the closet on the back side of the room, near the bed. Then inspect the faint trace inside the closet with your glasses (clues 6/7). This unlocks a new hypothesis.

Talk to Unai again for the final clue (clues 7/7). Proceed to Identification.

Kinoko's Urban Myth - Day 3 Investigation
Check the laptop on the desk (clues 1/5). Use your glasses and interact with the shadow near the entrance. Take it off afterwards. Talk to Jasmine and then to Kinoko. You'll be able to do a hypothesis through the "Why did the ghost's actions change?" panel.

Hypothesize: Why did the ghost change its behavior?
Maybe (I myself) (became the ghost's target) because (I have the Clairvoyance power) ?

You'll get a clue for solving that one (clues 2/5). Talk to Kinoko about it (clues 3/5). Use your glasses and interact with the shadow near the entrance. Head to the far right and talk to the neighbor (clues 4/5). Return to Kinoko after that (clues 5/5).

Time for your daily stroll at the Umeki Park. Talk to Hinata to the far right (clues 1/4). Interact with the bushes to the right of her and use your glasses. Interact with the shadow next to your shadow, then do the same to your shadow (clues 2/4). Talk to the Park Keeper about the area beyond the forest (clues 3/4). Now, head to the far right and interact with the bushes at the far end of the screen. Run it down with the Park Keeper again (clues 4/4).

Interact with the piles of books to the right of Tomiiri, then talk to him. Interact with the piles of books to the left of Tomiiri next to find Netherland research notes. Put on your glasses and interact with shadow Kisaragi near the desk to the left. After that, take it off and interact with the desk. Put on your glasses again and interact with both Kisaragi shadow, then take it off. Interact with the desk to the far left again (clues 1/5). Head to the far right and interact with the two piles of books to the right of Tomiiri. Report everything to Tomiiri (clues 2/5), (clues 3/5). Head to where the desk to the left is, but don't interact with it. Interact with the piles of books next to it. Next, head to the far right and interact with the piles of books there (clues 4/5). Do a hypothesis through the "Follow Tsutomu Kisaragi's traces" afterwards.

Retracing Your Steps
You'll arrive at Umeki Park. Use your glasses and walk to the right. You'll find two shadows. Interact with them, then return to the Park Keeper. Exit the area through the left. Go to Underground station.

Once you arrive at the Station, use your glasses. Head to the far right to find SAMEZIMA Admin's shadow. Interact with it and take off your glasses. Interact with the vent nearby (clues 1/4). Exit the area through the far left and go to Nishitani's home.

You'll arrive at Nishitani's home. Use your glasses and interact with your shadow. Do the same to Nishitani's shadow near the table to the right, then take off your glasses. Interact with the shelf nearby (clues 2/4). Use the door on the far left and go to Kurosawa's home.

In Kurosawa's house, interact with the trophy near the right door (clues 3/4). Enter Kurosawa's room to the far left and interact with the monitor and the trash bin. After that, use your glasses. You'll see Kurosawa and SAMEZIMA Admin's shadow. Interact with them. Take off your glasses and interact with the trash bin again. Do the hypothesis through the "Locate the church" panel.

Use the door to the far right to exit this place and go to Mio's home.

You'll arrive at Mio's place. Before talking to Mio, use your glasses and interact with her shadow to the far right. After that, take out your glasses and interact with the shelf. Once you are done, talk to Mio (clues 4/4).

Saint Nicholas Church
Just walk all the way to the left until you find the victims. After that, it's time for your last Dissolution.
