Where to begin
In Farming Simulator 25 there are 2 different ways you can sample soil:

1. Using the Isaria Scout.

2. Purchasing the field information.

There is different reasons for choosing each. Im going to explain each on in this guide.
Purchasing Field Information
If you want a quick and easy way to get the data from your field you can purchase this data from the map view.

1. Go to the precision farming tab in the map view.

2. Click on any owned field and then this menu should show up.

3. Click 'PURCHASE SOIL INFORMATION' and it should show this conformation screen.

4. If you are happy with the costs, click 'YES'. The map should now show the soil types for your field.

Using The Isaria Scout
The Isaria Scout allows your to sample a specific area of a field. Personally I wouldn't recommend this for a large field due to the size of the working width. Instead i would us it if you are expanding a field or it is a smaller field. But lets get into the Isaria Scout!

1. The Isaria Scout (IS) can be found in the Miscellaneous Category. The scroll down till you find it. Its 17k to buy. (if its a small area I recommend leasing)

2. Hook up the IS to any 3-point hitch vehicle.

3. Head to the area you want to scan and unfold the IS. You should see a green circle around your location arrow.

4. Now to take a sample press your Tool 1 key (B on keyboard) and the IS will lower, once a sample has been taking the mini-map will go Red-Brown

5. Now go around the whole field till it is all sampled.

6. Now, to send the sample for analyisis press the Tool 3 key (Y on keyboard). You will then be shown a confirmation screen.

7. Then after a few second you will be charged for the anaylises (1 sample = £50) and the soil types will show in the map.

And that's you finished!

What Does Different Soil Types Mean?
At first the different types of soil can same just random and strange. But they actually have an effect on game play.

Their are 4 main things that is influenced by soil type:

1. Base Yield: Each soil type has a base yield that remains constant no matter the crop. It breaks down as so:
Loam 125%,
Sandy Loam 100%,
Silty Clay 80%,
Loamy Sand 75%

2. Lime Required: Each soil type has different lime requirements and is not influenced by the crop that is planted. (You can lime before planting)

3. Nitrogen Required: Each soil type has different nitrogen requirements and is influenced by crop that is planted (You need to plant before you fertilise)

4. Lastly, different soil types changes the seeding rate for each crop.
