Items needed
1) Computer
2) Steam "Big Picture"
3) Xbox wired controller
Starting Off
Okay, so first things first you need to open the "Big Picture" mode (you can do this by clicking the controller icon at the top right or pressing the center Xbox icon on your controller). Once there go to the "Library" tab and go to Counter-Strike Global Offensive and start the game.

Controller Configuration
So you've made it this far, now we'll get into the actual configuration of the controller.

At this point you'll need to go to Options > Controller
Now you'll be at the button set up (you'll have to set this up various times in game).
Here you use the d'pad to select the buttons you want to change.
Using the Controller
Finally we're almost done!
Now you need to start a game (preferably bots so you can get used to the controller). For this example I used the "No Bots" mode.

The last thing you need to do is the command "Bind <key> "joystick 1"". The quotation marks around joystick 1 are required for this to work properly so it knows its a phrase, because as the command implies it enables the joysticks on your controller so you can look and move, the reason you'd bind this command is for easy access to the command with a touch of a key. (you need to press this key when you join a new server not map)

Oh and dont forget to reset the buttons to how you want them! :)

Thanks for reading!
I hope this helps some people out there having troble setting their controller up.

Best Regards,

P.S. there is a handy button for a 180 spin!

Don't do that !!!!
Unless you don't care about face it !
Because if you've that enabled with face it, It won't let you join the server for whatever reasons, but good solutions

i found a better way that you only have to do one time.
search your counter strike global offensive folder for a file called Undo360controller.cfg
open file
change Joystick 0 to Joystick 1
save file
now the only time you need a mouse on the main menu screen

best help ever

Everytime I enable the contoller, type exec controller.360.cfg and joystick 1, the buttons are messed up and I start spinning uncontrollably.

I think I found a new way!
1. Plug in your controller
2. open console (~) and type "exec config.360"
--- Bind ---
bind "ralt" "exec config.360"
(This will bind 'right alt' to execute the cfg)

Have fun!

Nice guide. Is there any way to autoexec the "joystick 1" command in the .cfg folders for the game?
