What I learned...
The unique Synergy shape you create when you choose to create a Synergy must be crafted with the Primary Sigil for that Synergy (So, for Ice Storm, it's Lightning).
In my case, I made a unique Nova and crafted a Control spell with Lightning.
Okay, now now you can equip it, and start charging it.
Your spells will all work the same as before. The shape of the spell doesn't influence the Synergy at all.
Anyway, charge it by overkilling enemies (using any means, AFAIK). A bar will show on the bottom right between the spell icons when the appropriate Sigil is selected. When it's charged, your AOE spell for that Sigil will be replaced with the Synergy spell.[\u]
Have fun
it's strange...
