Getting Started
Welcome to The Contest of Champions, Summoners!

Marvel Contest of Champions is a 2D Fighting video game with a wide variety of RPG elements available at your fingertips. Within The Contest are hundreds of Marvel heroes and villains battling for supremacy in The Battlerealm, a dimension that is a combination of many places and many times, all at once.

Within it, you will play as The Summoner, a being with the power to collect and summon their own Champions to fight for them, and to assist in handling the many disputes and power struggles across The Battlerealm.

To get started, launch the game and complete the Tutorial. Once you have gone through the Tutorial and received your introduction to the Collector, collecting Champions, ranking them, and are ready to dive into all that The Contest has to offer, it’s important to take a few moments to explore the Settings Menu, as well as the Main Screen.
Settings Menu

The first thing you will want to make sure to do is create a Kabam Account, otherwise known as a Kabam ID! You will use this to log into your profile in the game from any mobile device, tablet, or on PC! This is required to be able to save your account for the future, and will enable you to make purchases in the Summoner’s Market, participate in giveaways on Twitch as a part of our livestreams, and much more!

Here, you can also control and change the in-game volume, sound effects, as well as the current frame rate. There are also a number of beta features that are being tested that Summoners are able to opt into if they wish.

Once you have finished creating your Kabam ID and are ready to dive into the game, feel free to hop into Fighting and Quests for a few tips on what to look for as you’re diving into Quests!

There are a few more tidbits included below for the curious Summoner about the Main Menu, Home Screen, as well as your player profile!
Home Screen

Your Home button will always take you back to the main screen that you see when you enter the game.

The Fight button will take you to all of the available game modes, both single player and alliance game modes currently available. For more information on different game modes, check out this article on different game modes – Game Modes. [playcontestofchampions.com]

The Alliance Button will either take you to the Alliance you are currently a part of, or if you have not joined one, it will prompt a list of Alliances that you can join. You will need to be at least level 4 in order to join an Alliance!

The Crystals button will take you to your crystal stash, which is broken down into three separate tabs. To learn more about crystals and the Champions and resources contained within, check out Champions and Crystals[playcontestofchampions.com].

The Champions Button will take you to your full Champion roster. If you have achieved The Uncollected title, it will also be where you can view your Relics.

The Inventory Button will take you to your full Inventory, including Catalysts, ISO-8, Champion Rank-Up items, Potions, Revives, Boosts, and a variety of other items!

The Store Button will take you to the in-game store where you can purchase Units and other offers available to you. These offers will change and shift as you progress through the challenges The Contest has to offer.

The Progression Button and Icon details out each of the Progressions that you can achieve as you progress through The Battlerealm. Starting with Challenger, there are many bonuses that you can gain by reaching the next progression levels. If you want to learn more about the different Progression levels within The Contest, check out Player Progression[playcontestofchampions.com]!

Now, let’s dive into talking about the Home Screen and taking a tour! The longer you play MCoC, the quicker you will realize that there is a tremendous amount of detail available at a glance on the Home Screen, so let’s dive into what all of those things are!

In the upper left is where you can find the Settings Menu we talked about earlier to set up your Kabam ID and change any other settings you want to adjust.

At the top, where your username shows, is the Summoner’s Profile, there will be a larger breakdown of the profile below.

Next to the Summoner’s Profile is the Energy Summary, where Summoners can see how much Quest Energy, Alliance Quest Energy, and Alliance War Energy they have available.

This is the Resource Summary, with a quick at-a-glance view of the most common currencies currently used in The Battlerealm. For more details on the wide variety of resources in MCoC, check out Resources[playcontestofchampions.com]!

To the right of your Resource Summary is your Unit stash, and clicking on it will take you to the available in-game Stores, where Units and other resources can be purchased with a wide variety of currencies.
Player Profile

Clicking on the Player Profile will bring up each Summoner’s Profile. You can search for a specific Player Profile by using the Search function in the chat, as shown earlier. On the right side, you will find stats about the number of Champions you have collected, as well as stats of your time playing in The Contest, as well as your top ranked Champions and Relics.

On the bottom left, you will find information about your Alliance, if you have joined one, their rating, and what their last rank in Alliance War was.

On the top left, there are customizable options available! You are able to change things like your display name at any time, by hitting the pencil, which will bring up several options.

Changing your nickname will require name change tokens, which can be purchased in one of the Stores. You are able to change your Profile Pic, which will allow you to choose from a wide variety of options, and if you have achieved The Uncollected rank and unlocked Battlegrounds, here you will be able to Equip Emotes you would like to use in that game mode. All of these things can be changed at any time, as often as you like!

Clicking the Summoner Level button will show you each of the currently achievable Summoner Levels, and what you will unlock by achieving it. Advancing your Summoner level is very important as it will give you access to larger inventories, Mastery Points, and more!

Titles will allow you to apply any Title that you have earned in-game. Titles can be achieved from a wide variety of areas, from completing Event Quests, to participating in events, to time spent in The Contest!

Masteries are a way for each Summoner to customize their entire Champion roster with a variety of different abilities, stat increases, and more! Additional information on where to get started with Masteries can be found here [playcontestofchampions.com]and a guide to the tool available here in the Academy is available here[playcontestofchampions.com]!

With that, our initial tour and introduction to The Contest home screen is complete, Summoners! You are now ready to dive headfirst into the game!
