Well we're actually trying to find and bring back curlieeee but if she isn't showing up and it's battles against chimken we can at least bring him home right?  We tried teleporting back after defeating curlieeee as a demon and that didn't work although it seems it should have so lets be persistent and continue onwards to take down chimken and bring him back, surely if we complete the whole area afterwards we'll bring him back right?  No other surprises could possibly be waiting for us inside a random chest later on that bring more drama and twists and turns to our friendly community?  We finally bring someone home, but is it anyone that we're remotely expecting as the surprises exist at every twist and turn.
