Ready to start longlining or Net Fishing ?.

There are 3 boats that allow you to start longlines and net fishing.

Boats are listed as follows.

Tier 1 boat is Flippy. Longline only ................................. Maximum 4x500 hook lines buckets.

Tier 2 boat is conquest. Longline and net fishing.................Maximum 20x2500 hook lines buckets. 20x250m nets.

Tier 3 boat is Turbo. Longline and Purse Seine Fishing.......Maximum 20x2500 hook lines buckets.

Purse Seine Fishing is not yet implemented within SAS ATM.


Firstly. Make sure you have the relative skill point in the correct tree ..

Push Tab key----Skill Tree----Fishing---- You need a skill point in Longliner and Net to enable both skills..



Tier 1 boat is the Flippy. Longline only

The first boat most will purchase and use early game is the Flippy bought at the shipyard.

When you buy the Flippy you will see the tabs to upgrade it and also see a tab to buy the longline rigging. Once bought don`t forget to install the longline rigging feature.

Since the last patch an excellent tool has been released called the "Remote control" found in the upgrades tab. I strongly suggest you buy this tool as it will save a lot of time trying to haul in the buoys. Don't forget to install it on your boat.

To use the remote, just come alongside a buoy and press default key N to auto reel the line or net in. It can be installed on all tier fishing boats.

You then need to go to the shop and buy a hook. The hook is used to hook the fish from the longline.

Proceed to the fisheries and buy Longline buckets The maximum that Flippy can carry is 4x500 longline buckets.

NOTE: If you try and buy EG, 5x500 hook lines or 4x1000 hook lines then the game will say "incompatible rigging on active boat"

You can upgrade the buoys here too, The choice is yours.

You then need to buy your bait. It does not matter what you buy at the moment as the bait mechanic for fishing specific species is not implemented yet , nor is the maximum weight restrictions of fish caught carried on the boats.

Once the above is purchased your now ready to start longlining.

Bring up your map and plot a course for your chosen fishing grounds. Once your course is set, set your throttle and push default p twice to engage the auto pilot. As you near your chosen fishing ground press default key J and then k to view your sonar "Make sure you enable fish markers on the sonar within the boats cabin" to view fish species on the sonar LCD screen. Again the fishing areas are not fully implemented yet so dropping your lines should get you a good haul after the soak times.
Note. You can't catch cod using longlines. Cod can only be caught using nets. Halibut brings very good prices when you sell the haul.

Bait and deploy your lines and let them soak for 14 to 17 hours and your ready to haul them back in. As mentioned above, Come alongside a boy and push N to start auto hauling the line. Quickly equip the hook and start hooking the fish from your lines. Rinse and repeat as required.



Tier 2 boat is conquest. Longline and net fishing.

If your longlining then follow the guide above.

The conquest is a huge upgrade in what it can carry onboard. After purchasing the remote you have the choice to equip the Conquest with longlines or nets. Make sure you have either longlines or nets installed "rigged" onboard be for departure.

Visit the shop and buy the yarn hook found in the tools section.

Visit the fisheries and buy what nets you need. Tier 2 Conquest, can carry max 20X2500 Hook Lines or 20x250m nets.

Buy the first 10 at the fisheries and move them to your company. Buy another 10 and they will be automatically placed on your boat. Go into your company and move those 10 to your boat and you will see that there are 20 stacked buckets of 2500 hook lines ready to use at the back of the conquest.. If you buy 20 nets then they will be ready to deploy from the net holder.
If Long lining, Make sure you stock up on bait as you need a lot of bait for this amount of hooks .

I personally carry 20x1000 hook lines, Carrying 2500 hook lines is very time consuming in deploying them.




Tier 3 boat is Turbo. Longline and Purse Seine Fishing.

Maximum 20x2500 hook lines buckets.Purse Seine Fishing is not yet implemented.

The flippy guide is exactly the same with the turbo until Purse Seine Fishing becomes active.


Buying and selling items.

If for example you bought 10x1000 longline and want to upgrade to 10x2500 longline then you have the option to visit the shop and sell any equipment you have Purchased previously in the sell inventory tab. You can now buy longer lines or bigger nets etc.
