💜 Singleplayer/multiplayer all-in-one pack. Strictly original GMod content and highly unique mods only. NO: tacticool/realistic HD, unoriginal playermodels, multiple vehicle/weapon bases. YES: Controller friendly, save compatible, single vehicle base. Kewl

It is currently in beta.

The premise is this:
1) Everything must be either original in Garry's Mod, or, if it IS from another game/media, it must be very unique/interesting and worthy to look at.
2) No tacticool or overly realistic HD stuff.
3) No useless/unoriginal playermodels. I made a few exceptions for models like Anonymous or Haus The Plague Doctor since they were the OG playermodels in Gmod.
4) Controller friendly. Also Steam Deck friendly - that’s why the toggle spawnmenu and aim assist are here.
5) Save friendly. PLEASE CONSULT THE DESCRIPTION BEFORE SAVING THE SESSION
6) Only one vehicle base that does it all and no weapon bases. There are a few weapon packs, but they serve more of an arcade-like function, for example Gluk’s weapons, Dr Breens Arsenal, CSS guns


For a while I’ve been enjoying playing gmod this sandbox-y way. The problem is that I don’t see many others do the same - people come here for DarkRP, Tactical stuff and… dunno. What matters is that when I was searching for proper singleplayer exploration modpacks, I’ve found none. And so, the idea for G.A.T.E. was born.
I am tired of seeing so many modpacks that include unnecessary stuff like playermodes, cars, guns… I don’t know them, and I don’t want to install many of the bases to play around. For me, the most basic entity to play around is many times better than 5 gb weapon arsenal with customization.
But the thing is!
I am not right! This is just an opinion - and hence this modpack. Add your playermodels, add your guns and add your vehicles - don’t let anyone stop you from tailoring your own experience. That’s the purpose of G.A.T.E.!

Average PC FPS with high resolution: 60-80 FPS
Average Steam Deck FPS: 40 FPS
Keep in mind that my PC can run RDR2 no problem so your experience may vary.
IF YOUR PC IS OLD, YOU'LL HAVE TO MANUALLY DISABLE MODS, USE PERFOPUS FOR THIS .
Size is ~15 gigabytes

Only games that appear in this modpack (partly, as in having gameplay mechanics from them) are Ultrakill (coins/parry/blood systems, makes the combat very cool), Pizza Tower (movement mod), and VA11 Hall-A (bartending system is straight up awesome). DMC (coolass pistols, no joke please try em) and GTA (the OG vehicles from Glide are from GTA V, worry not this mod was optimized for its standards) also make an appearance.
There is so much more I’d love to include, but I feel like this won’t necessarily fit the theme, for example Unreal Tournament 2004 guns or Serious Sam guns.

0) Before using this mod, please check that you DON'T have the outdated versions of previous mods. If you do, even while being disabled they have a chance to glitch your game (examples might be Cooking Mod < Food Addon; Toybox Classics < Vincent's Improved Toybox Classics, Hoverboards < Hoverboards Renovation and so on)
1) Go to the Garry's Mod install folder, then to garrysmod/cfg/autoexec.cfg and paste these two commands:
1.5) Download and mount Counter Strike Source (outdated), Half Life 2 and episodes, and Half Life Source
2) Upon loading into the game, type "objectrender" in console and untick "world" category, so corpses won't freeze in mid-air upon death

Optional:
1) Set up the spawn menu music in options
2) Here's a list [pastebin.com] of commands for you to bind. I suggest using Arctic's Radial Binds
3) If your FPS is too low, then you can use Perfopus to check which mods tank your perfomance and disable them manually. If one of the mods makes the game unplayable, please DM me on Steam.
4) FPS Booster => disable texture filtering & disable bloom if you like

They had either VERY questionable programming or were causing errors here and there. I'll create an "optional" collection soon with them

I chose Glide. I am not really of a cars/airplanes enthusiast, but I enjoy using them from time to time. I also needed standalone jet ski/motorbike if I needed, so that was making things harder. However, Glide does everything - all types of vehicles that one may need (cars trucks vans motorcycles jet ski helicopters airplanes) in one package. While they are from GTA V, they aren’t too big in filesize, and for a person like me that would be enough. However in the future I will create the optional section for people who want to try other vehicle bases - like LVS.

I’ve played HUNDREDS of maps in gmod and I chose these ones specifically. They are very lovely and I think everyone should see them by themselves. It doesn’t mean that others are bad - I mean, there’s gm_lair that’s frickin awesome, rp_unioncity, seveneleven… But that’s up for you to add them - I wanted this collection to have highly replayable maps that can be enjoyed both with multiplayer fun and singleplayer exploration.

Don’t worry, I’ll create the “optional” section in the future with a few suggestions from me and others.

You are using that specific occlusion system that was ported from Crysis. Don’t remember the name, but they have an ATV gif on it.

This mod was mostly designed for multiplayer purposes, so that everyone would have their own playermodel of choice. I suggest predownloading them when you are in singleplayer.

Sometimes a few of the mods in here tend to send mistakes/glitch. They are relatively harmless, you can consult the list in here[pastebin.com].

MODS that WILL glitch if you save the game with them: Coffee mod (won't work upon interacting), Fishing mod (some entities may disappear), Drones Rewrite (makes copies of it, glitchy), Gpoker (SPAMS ERRORS)
