How to
The main thing you need to first understand is that This is a luck based achievement. While there is skill in determining which options you have available, this guide is going to aim to get you the achievement in a minimum of attempts.

The important clues

We are generally looking for the following clues when doing a run - these make the game much more manageable, and increase the likelihood of a successful run.

- The KILLER is this WEAPONS value Always false - impossible
- The WEAPON is this KILLERS value Always false - impossible
- The WEAPON/KILLER is in the slots Can frequently be easily verified as true/false
- The WEAPON/KILLER is in the columns Can give you a list of potential subjects

For #3 and #4 we always assume this to be TRUE unless contradicted. Especially for #3. Many of my close runs have had a 50% chance of success after assuming that to be TRUE. (Also see the section on a super neat trick for these)

Remember, we are going to get 12 (at most) pieces of information. On average, 3 of the pieces should be false. Keeping this in mind, I generally try and aim for a solution which has 3 false pieces. This is why #1 and #2 are so important, these are ALWAYS false, and make determining truth easier.

The golden rule

If the solitaire portion is being a pain, and you have 6 clues or less, restart - unless having two of the good clues above. This will save you a lot of time, and since this is a luck based achievement, you really shouldn't take it too seriously.

If you want to try and 'win' every game of Murder Mystery, I strongly recommend not trying to get the achievement on that particular run. Unless you have excellent clues by clue 12, your chances of guessing correctly is frequently less than 5%. Your time is MUCH better spent finding a favourable set of clues on an easy to move board.

Why is it luck based?

Since you only get 12 out of 19 clues, there are many permutations in which you are not given enough information to determine with any certainty the truths from the lies, I've even had situations where I've seen 4 lies, and still not had enough information to have better than a 10% chance of winning.

Consider the following clues:

- The weapons value is even
- The weapons value is a prime number
- The weapons value is odd
- The weapons value is not a prime number.

Congratulations, you know NOTHING about what value the weapon could have with that information. Technically this isn't entirely accurate, as you can logic an optimal choice here with this information but we aren't talking anything significant enough to be worth hurting your brain over.

If you really care:

There are four possibilities - The weapons value is even and a prime, even and not a prime, odd and a prime, odd and not a prime. Game theory states that any of these which lead to a definitive solution is worth choosing. In this instance, if the weapon is even and a prime it can ONLY be a value of 2, so this should be considered true as it is the highest likelihood of leading to a successful outcome

Take note

It's important on clues about columns, or clues that reference a weapons value/suit in relation to a killer - This is because it's frequently hard to re-check that information. I also tend to just take a screenshot of the clues themselves.

One trick you can do if you've forgotten what cards are in Column 3, is to use the undo feature - just write down every time a matching card goes to that column until the clue itself disappears - This will ensure that you have all valid solutions if that clue is true.

One super advanced trick

Technically there are sometimes ways to find out if the 'hidden in slots/hidden in columns' clues are true or false. Some could consider this an abuse of game mechanics, so unspoiler at your own risk. The game gives this information on reveal, but if you can undo the reveal, and then remove all the cards from the slot/column in question, you can then re-reveal the card telling the rule for the first time, and if the rule changes, then it was true - if it stays, then obviously it is false, as that column/stack is now empty. You can then undo again, place cards back in those places, and effectively determine exactly which card the clue is talking about.

NOTE: No, you can't go over 12 reveals and then undo some of them and still get the achievement, nice try.

This is my first guide ever on the platform, While I was the first player to unlock this achievement (going from 0.0% - 0.1% on steam means this is the case) - I've never written a proper guide before - any tips/criticism/feedback is super welcome and I'll do what I can to keep it updated. Remember: I want to help players get better at the game, and a rising tide raises all ships.

@Zero - if it's not working that usually means the clue is false. I had it work just fine today on the latest build.

Thank you, I had a lucky guess (10%) and got the achievement. However I think the super advanced trick doesn't work anymore.

@moisole, indeed. Either choice doesn't particularly matter, but it's just optimal to pick one that falls into those categories. I will update it to make it clearer, thanks!

@Zero - You will see them as "The Killer has the same value as 'a piano'" - since killers can only be A/10/11/12/13 and weapons can only be 2/3/4/5/6/7/8/9 this can NEVER be true.

Regarding your useless clues - yes, the achievement is about 'asking a set number of guests'

Do useless clues where the party guests don't know anything, count as 1 of the 12 clues?
moisole 14 Jul @ 8:07am
Well, odd and not prime also has only one option, so...

@Zero since killers are always JQKA cards and weapons are always number cards, it is impossible for a killer to have a weapon's value (it would be a weapon) or vice versa

I don't understand the 2 impossible clues that you are talking about, I have never seen them. Are they written in another way?
