Quick tips for Mist Life
Mistlands expands on the mechanics of Meadows where there is directional sound highlighting mob positions, those of the Black Forest where noise from player activities draws aggroed enemies while adding in player light sources as another draw (be wary of light, which also includes magical weapons like the Drauger Fang), together with the stamina management and extreme verticality of Mountain.

Life prolonging

1) the dark areas on the minimap are pockets in the Mistlands that have no mist.

2) You can climb above the mist and its inhabitants if you pay attention to the surface textures of the rocky outcrops:

green = walkable/standable,
heavily fractured / rough surfaces = climbable,
smooth = not climbable but wall runable

These textures are visible in mist. Worth remembering for those times where you decide/need to beat a hasty retreat.

4) Turn off Push to Run in the game options and pivot your mead production to the best stamina boosters available and your diet to the best stamina foods and be very careful of falling until you own a Feather cloak.

5) Bring Barley wine - if you time it right you can survive a direct bile onslaught with no damage.

6) You can use peaks as shields against bile attacks and to break line of sight to escape.

7) Once you have the Feather cloak, getting around requires much less stamina. The long angled peaks are ramps allowing you to get up speed for jumps to travel further with the Feather cloak.

8) Blue beacons are visible through the mist. Infested mines have a particular rock configuration which is both unique to them and fairly visible when you’re close enough.

Combat related

9) Wear headphones and keep and an ear open when gathering resources.
In the mist you hear mobs moving around a good ways off, and each have their own distinct sounds; seekers different from hares, seeker soldiers different from seekers, the gjall etc.

10) The verticality is more extreme than Mountain’s, so stamina management is key, high stamina diets are a must, verticality impacts stamina and where your blows land.

11) Choose your fights carefully - try not to have water behind you or around you. Most of the dangerous mobs like open areas and water, but they are bad a climbing. Exploit their weaknesses.

12) Scout areas - take time to listen to what's moving about and where. Only move in to locations you're sure of.

13) Avoid carrying light sources - this includes magical weapons, as light will draw aggro just as surely as noise.

14) Frost arrows help to get the flank on seekers, go with the Huntsman - fully upgraded it only does slightly less damage than the Drauger Fang, but has massively reduced audible and visible noise.

15) Ooze bombs will help clear infested mines quickly.

Drop one on in front of an old Dverger Gate and it'll wipe out, or worst case, only heavily reduce the health of the mobs camping in the room behind.

16) Ooze Bombs can be thrown through the weblike obstructions on doorways leaving the barriers intact. If you stand in LoS the mobs will continually path to you and into the poison cloud.

17) For larger rooms behind latticed barriers, get a bomb on a mob behind the barrier and they will try to escape the poison cloud attached to them, fumigating rooms you can't see or reach with bombs.
