Intro
If you’re new to NBA 2K, or to basketball generally talking, understand and learn how to play can be frustrating sometimes. In every mode you’ll play NBA 2K, know who to control and how to guard him, can be hard if you don’t have the real clue of what you have to do.

NBA2KEU wants help you to figure it out with a tips list to let you become a dominant force in the paint.
Don’t switch who you control
You don’t have to keep switching control to the man closest to the ball. This is not football or the other sports.
You can focus on picking up the other men on the court, you will let your next opponent free to score easily.
You may be good at ball stealing, so be patient, and wait for the ball sharing to another player. Usually who start the attacking phase of the opponent side, is also good at dribbling. Hold on, and wait for the right time to steal the ball.
Try to block all the time isn’t a good choise
The Y button (or triangle) will make a defender jump and try to block a shot, we all know that.
Sometimes you will achieve the block, but the most of the time you’ll get the risk of fouling a shooter or being tricked by a fake shot and being left wanting as an opponent dribbles past you.
There is an easy solution to understand when I have try to block my opponent, or just contest him? Unfortunately not.
We just know that attempt to block him all the time is not the right way to defend.
You should think before all the aspects of the current action before jump to block him. Who is carring the ball? Is my opponent an inside scorer? Did he just completed a dribbling? How many seconds left before the shot clock violation?
Remember that sometimes is enough contest the shot with LT (R2) to be effective on defense!
Another important thing of the defense is: DON’T RUN FOR EVERY OPPONENT MOVEMENT, but just close his ways.
Don’t steal all the time, you’re not a thief!
Stealing can be an important part of defence, but it also locks you into an animation, which if missed, allows your opponent to attack easily the basket.
The best time to steal usually, is when your opponent is attempting a dribbling, or is passing the ball, not when he stands in front of you just bouncing the ball.
Boxout!
Allow offensive rebounds to your opponent is the easiest way to lose. When a shot does go up, make sure to hold LT/L2 to block your opponent out from the basket and grab the rebound.
‘Boxing out’ is a key to defend, and who control the rebounds control the game.
Stopping attackers from getting the ball means you won’t give up easy points.
