An Intro To Corpse Juggling
By TG
You may have seen someone do this online, perhaps, where a player can very quickly bounce around their opponent’s body as a sign of skillful disrespect. This guide will attempt to explain how some of those combos are done!

SmellyHobo101’s Advanced Training Mod
Smelly has made a program that allows you to not only remove the corpse combo limit offline (or online, if every player is using the mod), but also allows you to press F2 to spawn a corpse from player 2. With this, you can play a versus game with yourself and practice combos. You can look into it more on his Reddit post!
Are You Familiar With The Different Kinds Of Jumps?
This might be a huge news flash to some, but this game has a jump button that allows you to get yourself into the air. However, a lot of newer players do not know that you can manipulate your jump height and how long you stay in the air with the jump button.

Just lightly tapping your jump button then releasing will make your character do a short hop. Holding down the jump button for the complete duration of your jump makes you do a full hop, which allows you to almost float in the air for a rather long time before gravity remembers that it exists.
How Well Can You Fast-Fall?
Fast-falling is common trope in most 2D fighting and platform games. If you reach the apex point where you hit the height of your jump and you start falling, you can tap downwards to fall at an incredibly fast rate. The apex of your jump changes depending on if you’re short-hopping or you’re doing a full-hop, naturally. You can eventually get it so you can nail the fast-fall instantly by recognizing how high your jump is.

Much like with how rising bunts work, you can fast-fall in the same frame as you attack. This is essential for hitting bodies around. However, you cannot fast-fall during an attack, so if you bunt or swing early you cannot complete the fast-fall.
Get Them Rising Bunt Strats On Lockdown
Juggling corpses heavily relies on what most people refer to as a Rising Bunt, which is just a fancy term for pressing Jump and Bunt at the exact same time. I just use it as a blanket term for any attack however, because of habit.

You may have already noticed this, but if you attack on the ground with either a bunt or a swing, you cannot move your character until their attack animation is over. However, if you press jump at the exact same time as your attack button, you will jump during the same frame as you start your attack. This gives you control yourself in the air while you’re attacking, giving you priceless mobility.
You can use what you’ve learned earlier with the jump key and control how high and for how long you jump while you’re attacking. For instance, you can hold down jump while you’re full-hopping as you rising bunt throughout the duration of the attack to stay in the air.

Now that we’ve talked about those three basic concepts, we can now start juggling some corpses.
Simply Bunting a Body Up And Down
All you need to do to accomplish doing a basic bunt juggle is combining all the things we talked about earlier in the guide into one neatly wrapped package.

First, catch the body by using a rising bunt as it almost passes by you. Any kind of jump will work with the rising bunt, but short-hops are a bit harder to time if you’re not good with your fast-falls. You want to hit the top-ish part of the body to make sure that you can give yourself enough time to jump up and connect with the second bunt. You will bunt the body upwards slightly faster than you can jump, so delaying your hit as long as possible helps your chances of catching it in the air. If you did your rising bunt correctly, you should be travelling upwards with your new corpse.

When you hit the apex of your jump, bunt the body downwards. Pressing downwards as part of the down-bunt will actually trigger the fast-fall, so when you attack the corpse, you will be falling down at the same speed as it, if you timed your inputs correctly.

All you have to do is time your rising bunt the moment you land on the ground, and repeat. Boom! Hopefully you’re juggling a corpse in the air with your bunts!

You can mix up this simple body bunting by bunting the body in different directions as you’re traveling upwards. Why only do it in a vertical line when you can make a zigzag? Instead of down-bunting, why not attack the body with a downwards-neutral and meet it on the ground that way? Jazz it up with your own style! To me, that’s mostly what corpse combo is about! (Coming across as BM may be an unwanted side effect :D:)
Incorporating Straight Neutrals
You might have seen someone versed in the ways of hitting dead people being able to bunt a body upwards > straight shot > move forward in the air with it > bunt it downwards, and then proceed to reset their pattern. This ‘n’ pattern is really tricky to figure out and get down, but after you get the timing down you can pretty much do it with every character.

So bunt your corpse up in the air like previously discussed, catching the top of the corpse with a rising bunt, only this time, try to move in the air to the front half of your corpse. Instead of choosing a jump, keep jump held down the whole time. Hitting the corpse with your following neutral will cut the upward momentum of your jump, so use that as your cut-off of how high you want to carry the body. Try to get right in the middle of the corpse to try and give yourself the best head start possible when you have to catch up to your body again. Unless you accidentally went too far in front of it, your straight neutral should connect. Keep that jump button held down during the swing!

Make use you don’t accidentally slam instead of air neutral! The timing may be tricky, but make sure you’re not holding down forward or down when you hit swing.

While holding down the jump button, chase your corpse while floating through the air. The next step is to bunt your corpse downwards, and this is the moment of truth to see if you spaced yourself correctly. Do not bunt too early after your neutral swing, because it seems that there’s a small period of time before you can bunt after you hit something. I’ve found that doing it too early won’t actually bunt at all. Timing this bunt is the hardest part of the pattern, and getting the hang of this timing is the key of reliably doing an ‘n’ pattern.

Get the downwards bunt, meet it on the ground, bunt it back upwards, and do it again if you can! Unfortunately with the limit on how many times you can hit a body, you can really only do one full loop of this pattern, so practicing it may be hard during a live game.
Wrapping Up
That should get you started with hitting around some bodies. As I have said before, try out your own ways of hitting bodies around!

Most fighting games have a way of humiliating your opponent after their defeat – popularized by the first Mortal Kombat’s fatality. Although now a trope in most games, I sort of think of corpse combos as a new take on the finishing move – it’s flashy, allows you to finally directly hit your opponent, and it allows you to show off your own style all at the same time.

So, since now you have an idea on how to juggle, where will you be taking your opponent?

After reading this guide, on the day it came out - I immediately noticed corpse juggling improvement, I even received a complement from a sexy Brazilian supermodel (who I am now dating because of my massive corpse juggling skillz). The mass amount of knowledge stored in this guide is truly unbelievable as it goes so much further than simply corpse juggling. This guide helped me start and maintain a multimillion dollar company.

10/10, would read again.
