Rebel Galaxy Loading Screen Tips
By Luse2010
Rebel Galaxy includes some very helpful hints during the loading screens. Unfortunately these can fly by very quickly and there are also a lot of them.

This guide is made from extracted game data and collates all of the loading screen play tips so you can read them all.

Loading Screen Tips
These are all of the guiding tips which appear during load screens in Rebel Galaxy, extracted from the LUA data files. Many of them are context sensitive regarding input method, I have included the 360 control scheme in the tips below because this is what appeared in the LUA file I went through.

I hope someone finds this list useful, there were a few gems in there for me. Happy hunting!

  • Press and hold Left Stick to engage Booster Rockets for a controlled burst of speed.
  • Avoid fully draining your Booster Rockets to keep them from engaging a long cooldown cycle.
  • To search for distant objects and ships, use the Pulse option from the Command Menu.
  • Use Pulse from the Command Menu (PRESS Y) to find mission targets not in visible range.
  • To analyze nearby ships for information on their Cargo or Bounties, scan them with the Scan interface (BACK).
  • Approach the vessel and engage Warp Pairing with A to begin your escort.
  • To activate Jumpgates and travel to other sectors, you'll need to install a Jump Drive.
  • Jumpgates are inaccessible in the Preview Build.
  • Access the stellar map from the Command menu Y to plot your route, view other planets, and check mission waypoints.
  • These foes are too difficult for you to take on. Escape and live to fight another day!
  • Return to Broadside mode (DPAD DOWN) when not in combat to more easily manage your camera.
  • It has been some time since your game was saved. Dock at a station to store your progress.
  • Your ship automatically exits warp near objects. Manually breaking warp is usually not required.
  • You may review Tutorial Videos at any time from the System submenu (START).
  • From the Stellar Map, hovering on a station lets you review price histories, although the information is only as recent as your last visit.
  • All craft that are corvette-sized or larger are considered "Capital Ships". Gunships, fighters and bombers fall into the "Fighter" class.
  • HOLD A when the context prompt appears to dock, warp, or collect cargo.
  • Purchasing a Jump Drive will allow you to activate Jumpgates and travel to other sectors.
  • Dock at stations and visit the mission board for activities.
  • Use Pulse from the Command Menu (PRESS Y) to detect faraway objects, and discover mineable resources, secrets, and bounties.
  • You can find and hire mercenaries in bars if you need a little extra firepower.
  • Try hailing an enemy captain from the Scan menu (BACK) to pursue a non-violent option.
  • Different planets have different economic needs - pay attention to make a profit in trade.
  • Adjust your turrets' AI from the Tactical section of the submenus (START)
  • Bartenders can provide you with news of current events.
  • Use your Deflector (RB) to absorb unavoidable incoming damage.
  • If a station has become temporarily hostile due to illegal action taken in the vicinity, leaving the area can reset local standing.
  • When manning a turret, use Precision Aiming (HOLD LEFT TRIGGER) to shoot down incoming torpedoes.
  • Remember to repair your ship at a station if you are damaged.
  • Rockets, torpedoes, and missiles are very powerful, but must be replenished at a station for credits.
  • A mining laser makes short work of asteroids or other debris, and improves your chance of harvesting useful minerals.
  • Use your ship's Pulse charge, accessible from the Command Menu (PRESS Y) to detect ships beyond visual range, or objects with resources inside them.
  • Watch your quadrant damage, and protect your wounded sides until shields recharge in that area.
  • Different stations offer different equipment and ships, usually based on the controlling faction. Make sure to check each faction's stations for unique gear.
  • When manning a turret with DPAD UP the reticle will smartly lock onto targets and follow them. Manned turrets fire faster than unmanned.
  • When manning a turret with DPAD UP & DPAD DOWN the reticle will smartly lock onto targets and follow them. Manned turrets fire faster than unmanned.
  • Use your boosters (Hold Left Stick) for quick bursts of speed to evade incoming fire, or to escape.
  • Pressing backward on Left Stick engages retro-rockets, which slows your craft and allows you to turn faster.
  • A tractor beam is required to gather small cargo or resources. Larger containers can be scavenged without one.
  • Use the Scanner (BACK) to pause, scan targets for cargo or bounty, and take stock of the situation.
  • Use your ship's retro-rockets (B) for small adjustments to speed to maintain broadside positioning.
  • You must penetrate a target's Shields AND Hull to inflict damage on their core systems. Shield and Hull quadrants are shown above your target, and blink when damaged.
  • Shields and Hull for your ship are located around the map display in the bottom left of the screen. Quadrants blink when damaged.
  • Hail passing merchants and trade with them, or ask for advice on market conditions to take advantage of."
  • The distance display above your current target will turn red if the object is beyond your active weapon range.
  • Faction relations are visible from the Command interface (PRESS Y).
  • Purchasing a Repair Bot Subsystem can be a valuable investment. While they cannot repair hulls or power cores, they are effective at keeping all other systems in functional condition between docks.
  • Ordnance Targeting Software will allow you to track individual torpedoes or mines in Precision Turret modes.
  • Warp Drives will automatically disengage when you approach an object - you aren't required to disengage manually.
  • Hold Left Trigger to charge broadsides. The longer the charge, the more precise and synchronized the volley.
  • Deflectors lose their charge when in dense Nebulae.
  • Buy Fault Tracker Software to identify weak points on asteroids, and improve your mining results.
  • If you find yourself out-gunned in a Story Mission, visit the Mission Board at a station for side jobs, and earn some credits to upgrade your ship before trying again.
  • Join the Mercenaries' Guild to unlock new ships and components. Missions might have you aiding or fighting almost any faction!
  • Join the Merchant's Guild to unlock new ships and components. Merchant style missions will reward you with more credits and greater faction benefits.
  • Build faction reputation by completing missions for the Militia or the Red Devil Pirates. Higher reputations can unlock unique ships and components.
  • Hunt down any Pirate Lords you see on the map. They always carry a ship component for cargo, and have high bounties to collect. Be careful, though, they are not easily defeated.
  • Your progress is saved every time you dock at a station. If you are ever destroyed, you will restart at that last save point. Make sure to dock often!
  • Occasionally you can find ship components in floating Cargo Containers in space. You can locate these after you've picked them up in the Surplus section in the Equipment Bay.
  • Flak-type secondary component weapons are most effective when held-down continuously while appropriate in battle.
  • If the Threat Level is red, or your targets have double-red chevrons in their reticle, it may be a good idea to run!
  • Missiles are a wise investment, and make it much easier to take on tough foes.
  • Click and hold Left Stick to engage Booster Rockets for a burst of speed to escape your enemies.

"Press and hold Left Stick to engage Booster Rockets for a controlled burst of speed."

I recently discovered that you can push your left stick forward, then click the left stick to boost continuously. I found it much less awkward than holding the left stick pressed.

Uh, Enderminion
Scan is NOT just Tab, It's also "F" and there is another Key up near BACK, it may even be that.

Many actions in this game are enabled by default to use a Multiple Key function for any given command.

@LUSE2010
Thank you for the work man, It's real helpful :steammocking:

From the introduction text at the start of the piece :

"Many of them are context sensitive regarding input method, I have included the 360 control scheme in the tips below because this is what appeared in the LUA file I went through"

Y and BACK both relate to the 360 scheme.
