Tried running it in my laptop's 1600 x 900 but it just reverts the game to 1024 x 768 or whatever.
It's worth noting that any attempt to load dx2.exe or DX2Main.exe from the steam folder results in the error, "could not find steam". The game can only be booted from the Steam library.
Results:
Resolution
- The game resolution will need to be adjusted to the in-game resolution options for it to take effect, rather adding your own monitors from my tests at least.
The highest resolution option for DX2 is 1280 x 1024.
Add the game resolution options to the ViewPort X & Y should make the screen larger as well.
Crashes/Bugs:
- Game can crash from during loading screens, but if you don't mind waiting a min or two between loading screens it's fine.
- The game duplicates, leaving one frozen and the other playable.
Conclusion:
Overall, no need for 3rd party downloads most DX2 forums keep saying you need, when you can tweak a few numbers in the files OP mentioned.
Thank you OP for the recommended fix.
