Change resolution
1) Open Steam\steamapps\common\BloodRayne\system
2) Open rayne.ini with your favorite editor (notepad or notepad++ are fine)
3) Find
gamePIXY=VALUE1
gamePIXX=VALUE2
4) Insert the resolution in VALUE1 and VALUE2, for me it's a 1366x768, so:
gamePIXY=768
gamePIXX=1366
5) Done! Don't worry about the fov if the ratio isn't 4:3 (mine is 16:9, for example), it is automatically adjusted by the game
Use compatibility mode
1) Open Steam\steamapps\common\BloodRayne\
2) Right click on rayne.exe > properties
3) Go into compatibily tab and set "Run this program for: Windows XP SP3"
4) Click ok
Use one core (if the game crash)
For me (Windows 7 x64) the game run fine without this, but if it crash ingame use this, it's the same problem of Thief Gold
1) Open the game
2) Open task manager (Ctrl + Alt + Canc > Start task manager or Ctrl + Shift + Esc)
3) Go into preocesses tab
4) Select bloodrayne.exe, right click > Set affinity...
5) Select only CPU0 and click OK
The affinity will reset every time you close the game, so if this procedure fix some bug/crash you have to do it every time you open the game, before load a savegame or launch a new game.
Limit frame rate (if the game run too fast)
1) Download and install MSI afterburners
2) Open MSI afterburners and Rivatuner Statistics Server
3) Look in the taskbar, near the clock, you will see the Rivatuner icon, double click on it
4) There will be the frame limit option, enable it and set 30fps
5) Launch the game
Remember to launch Rivatuner before launch the game every time.

for those that have a decent card that suffer from issues emulate a videocard use like dgvoodoo or 3danalyzer to trick the game to utilize your videocard more it basically comes down to it barely using videocards same goes for bloodrayne 2 if you run into isues i would recommend trying dgvoodoo first as its better in todays standard

Been told on other forums its my GPU, somehow I find it hard to believe GPUs even today arent powerful enough for this game. My GPU isnt the most up to date but its a GTX 1050 TI, more than enough for this game.
However , Ive tried all of the fixes listed above and others listed elsewhere, but still crashes with the same 'failed to create vertex' message., and the 'out of memory' error.
Only just purchased these games again and neither of them work!
Steam shouldnt really sell these games if they are so iffy to get working.

At least offer a patch or ship it with a working out of the box install set!

Will it run with built in Intel graphics on Windows 10? I know it says no Intel cards, but things aren't always what you're told they are.

Best solution sad to say but buy it from GOG just edit the res in the rayne.ini and it works as it should with no probs.

It's because you haven't launched it yet. The game writes all the properties into rayne.ini after the first succesful launch, meaning it will be filled once you'll choose the video settings at start and get to the logo & intro movies.

If it crashes with with chosen settings, try launching with the lowest ones.
