Stoke Ferry Branch

Description
Stoke Ferry was a branch off the main line between Ely and Kings Lynn at Denver Junction. The line was built in the 1880's but was never financially viable mainly due to the sparsely populated area. Passenger trains ceased in 1930 but the line continued in operation with goods traffic until the 1960's.My route is a creation of what the line might have been like if it had continued to be in full use into the 1960's. The route has a section of main line from Hilgay to Downham and I have included loops on the ends of the main line to make for more interesting operation. The Stoke Ferry line branches off at Denver on the main line and has stations at Ryston, Abbey and terminates at Stoke Ferry. At Abbey there is a private railway line which branches off to the Wissington sugar factory and there are exchange sidings for the factory goods nearby Abbey station. Traffic would be passenger and goods trains running up and down the main line between Ely and Kings Lynn. Passenger trains to Stoke Ferry would generally run to and from Downham. Local goods traffic would be trains to and from the sugar factory and regular coal trains to supply the gas works at Downham. Other goods on the branch would be cattle, milk, farm produce and general mixed goods.Items required for this route are:- Isle of Wight.- Falmouth Branch.- Riviera Line in the Fifties.- European Loco and Asset Pack.Phorum Peninsula will not be required.

Hello Railfan. Good to know you like this route. I like to use the Apple Green LNER locos on this route. Thanks for your comments.

This is a fun little branch line route, perfect for giving my little engines a good run (my E2, although not prototypical for the area, looks especially good on the line). The J70 steam tram will go nicely on this line!

Just run the branch with an LNER N2,a couple of coaches and milk tanks-great stuff-most enjoyable-a couple of bottles of Masham ale helps!!!

Hallo Magnumdong. If you don't have the Riviera Line you will be missing quite a lot of scenery items such as trees, buildings, fences, lights, etc.
