Introduction

Welcome to the Battleborn guide to everything! This guide will help you to earn all Achievements, unlock all Characters, their Lore and Skins. There will be a full guide to finding all Easter Eggs in the game and complete Story Walkthrough and finally a guide on best builds for PvP for each of the Characters.

I appreciate that this is a long guide, I started making this guide less than a week after Battleborn's release date. Due to the length of the guide i recommend you use the contents section to the right to quickly navigate to the section you are looking for help with. All content that is not my own is credited at the very bottom of the guide in the Credits section.

Jennerit Enemies
Battleborn is filled with enemies programmed to hurt and destroy you. Luckily with this quick guide you can become a Badass killing machine. Enemies such as Bosses will not appear here as information on thier abilities and how to defeat them can be found in the Story Mission Walkthroughs. Information regarding Battleborn abilities will also not appear here since there is a separate section for each character.

Abilities

  • Kamikaze - The Thrall's only attack, it will explode the bomb at close range killing itself and dealing high damage

Critical Spot

  • The head and the bomb strapped to the thralls back

Robotic Enemies
Battleborn is filled with enemies programmed to hurt and destroy you. Luckily with this quick guide you can become a Badass killing machine. Enemies such as Bosses will not appear here as information on thier abilities and how to defeat them can be found in the Story Mission Walkthroughs. Information regarding Battleborn abilities will also not appear here since there is a separate section for each character.

M1 Blade Bot

A very common robotic enemy usually found in large waves of enemies.

Abilities

  • Melee Swipe - The M1 Blade Bot's only attack is its Melee Swipe

Critical Spot

  • The 'eye' located at the front of the M1 Blade Bot that looks like a red dot

M1 Gun Bot

A common robotic enemy usually found in small groups of around 4 or 5.

Abilities

  • Ranged Guns - A ranged burst gun on either side of the M1 Gun Bot

  • Melee Headbutt - When approached the M1 Gun Bot will attempt to Headbutt the player

Critical Spot

  • The 'eye' located at the front of the M1 Gun Bot that looks like a red dot

M1 Boom Bot

The M1 Boom Bot is a relatively common robotic enemy found only in PvE modes.

Abilities

  • Self-destruct - The M1 Boom Bot will run upto an enemy and plant itself on the ground at which point its two green 'eyes' will slowly turn red and it will then explode damaging anything nearby

Critical Spots

  • Both the 'eyes' that appear as green or red dots depending on its current state

M1 Rocketeer Bot

The most powerful M1 robotic unit you will likely come across capable of both ground and airborne combat.

Abilities

  • Dual Cannons - High Powered Cannon on either side of the M1 Rocketeer Bot that can tear through shields and health

  • Thrusters - Thrusters that allow the M1 Rocketeer Bot to fly for a limited time

Critical Spot

  • The 'eye' at the front of the M1 Rocketeer Bot looks like a red dot that is concealed by a black piece of armor. Shoot the armor to reveal the 'eye'

M3 Shield Drone

Shield Drones do not appear very often but as thier name suggests, they will shield thier allies preventing all damage until they are destroyed or pulled too far away from the ally they are shielding.

Abilities

  • Ranged Gun - Standard sub-machine gun type weapon that shoots lasers attached to the drone

  • Shield - A shield that will protect allys from taking any damage until the M3 Shield Drone is destroyed or too far from the ally

Critical Spot

  • To be determined

MX Striker

The MX Striker is the standard humanoid robot enemy you will come across. They can be found in both PvE and PvP. They do not appear in the PvP Capture playlist.

Abilities

  • Ranged Gun - Standard sub-machine gun type weapon that shoots lasers with Grenade Launcher attachment that shoots standard grenades

  • Melee Kick & Punch - The MX Striker can both kick and punch players at close range. It appears to kick more often than punch

Critical Spot

  • Shooting the head will result in a Critical Hit

MX Ronin

The MX Ronin is a melee-based version of the MX Striker robotic enemy that has very similar attacks to Rath (Battleborn playable character).

Abilities

  • Energy Blade Melee - An Energy Sword in both hands that do a high amount of damage to both shields and health

  • Crossblade - The same attack as Rath with Rath's first Helix choice 'Slowing Strike' meaning the player is slowed for 3 seconds when hit by this attack

Critical Spot

  • Shooting the head will result in a Critical Hit

MX Deadeye

The MX Deadeye is a long ranged version of the MX Striker robotic enemy with a High Power Sniper Rifle. He does a very high amount of damage if he can lock on and secure the hit but at long range it is relatively easy to avoid. Generally these units are found on high ledges and sometimes inaccessible so melee Battleborn characters will have a more difficult time killing these.

Abilities

  • High Power Charged-Shot Sniper Rifle - The MX Deadeye will have an orange laser sight indicating where he is aiming and once locked on to a target will take a second to fire since the rifle has to charge up before firing

  • Melee Kick - When approached the MX Deadeye will attempt to kick the player away

Critical Spot

  • Shooting the head will result in a Critical Hit

MX Elite Bot

The MX Elite Bot is likely the toughest robotic enemy you will encounter not including Bosses. They appear in both PvE and PvP, however in the PvP modes they only appear in the Incursion and Meltdown modes when summoned for 600 Shards or less (Buildables Gear can reduce their cost)

Abilities

The MX Elite Bot has more abilities than most other robotic enemies. It is capable of dealing huge amounts of damage in very little time.

  • Dual Cannons - High Powered Cannon on either side of the MX Elite Bot that will tear through shields or health

  • High Power Dual Cluster Grenade Launchers - Grenade Launcher on either side of the MX Elite Bot that are capable of dealing over 2300 damage with a direct hit in Advanced Mode (Yes that means insta-death regardless of how full health and shields are for most Battleborn)

  • Charged AoE Stun - The MX Elite Bot shields itself which massivly reduces damage taken but is not invulnerable then releases energy to stun all those in range for 5 seconds. You need to make sure you are out of the blue circle in order to avoid being stunned

  • Melee Swipe - Get too close to the MX Elite Bot and he will swipe at you

Critical Spots

  • Both his front 'eye' which looks like a red dot and his power pack found on his back that looks like a blue radiator box thing?

Factions
There are 5 factions of characters that you can choose to play as in Battleborn.

The Last Light Consortium

'The mostly-cybernetic LLC is the greatest economic power left in the universe, defined by a relentless pursuit of profit, no matter the cost. Once a constituent body of the United Peacekeeping Republics, the LLC abandoned the coalition when it became clear that principles and purpose did little to contribute to the bottom line. Owns and operates Minion Robotics, the largest weapons manufacturer still standing.'

_______________________________________________________________________________

The Eldrid

'A naturalistic order of observers and scientists, charged with the stewardship of the natural order of the cosmos. Long ago, the reach of the legendary Eldrid spanned entire galaxies -- but as the stars themselves have faded into darkness, so too has the might of this ancient faction. As all eyes turn to Solus, what remains of the Eldrid are grappling with their place in a darkening universe as they rally in defense of the Last Star.'

_______________________________________________________________________________

The Rogues

'The unaffiliated free peoples of Solus, colloquially known as the Rogues: misfits, renegades, and survivalists answering to no one. The Rogues make their home in the Detritus Rings, far from the squabbling of the other factions – but they too will have a part to play in determining the fate of the Last Star.'

_______________________________________________________________________________

United Peacekeeping Republics

'A collection of civilizations banded together under the banner of mutual protection, freedom, and equality, the nomadic UPR – like the other factions – now find themselves in Solus with no home to call their own. Though recently crippled by the secession of one of their strongest constituents, the Last Light Consortium, the UPR remains nonetheless committed to their idealistic sense of justice.'

_______________________________________________________________________________

The Jennerit Imperium

'The mighty Jennerit Imperium once led the fight against the Varelsi, forging alliances with the other factions to save the stars from the void. But in a desperate turn to spare his people from the darkness, the warlord Lothar Rendain staged a coup to seize control of the Imperium, and aligned its destiny with that of the Varelsi. Though the Jennerit have lost much in their struggle, they remain one of the strongest military forces in Solus.'
Versus Mode
Versus Mode is the PvP game mode. There are currently 3 different types of Versus Mode games you can play with Gearbox planning to add more in the future. Each mode has 2 Maps that you can play on. When queuing for Versus Mode, the Matchmaking logic will first find your team (unless you are already in a party of 5 players) and will then find the enemy team based on your teams ELO rating. Command Rank is not used at all when Matchmaking in Versus Mode so it is very possible to have one team with low Command Rank levels put against a team with very high Command Rank levels.

_______________________________________________________________________________

Capture

As seen in the video above courtesy of Nova (The AI voiceover) you need to control 3 Energy Collectors in order to defeat the enemy team. You only need to hold two Energy Collectors to be able to win but dominating by capturing all three will result in a much quicker victory. First team to reach 1000 points will win.

_______________________________________________________________________________

Incursion

As seen in the video above courtesy of Nova (The AI voiceover) you need to defend your two Sentries from enemy Players/Minions. At the same time you need to be escorting your own minions to attack the enemy Sentries. Once both of either sides Sentries are destroyed, the team that destroyed them wins.

Minions

Mercenary Camps

There are 3 Mercenary camps available on both Echelon and Overgrowth. Mercenaries are recruitable Thralls that act as Tanks to push your team and your Minions closer to the enemies Sentry. You will have to kill one or two rogue thralls then stand on the circular platform in order to recruit Mercenaries. A good tactic is to always recruit Mercenaries as soon as they become available in order to help your team push the enemy back.

_______________________________________________________________________________

Meltdown

Meltdown is my personal favorite PvP game mode so far. As seen in the video above courtesy of Nova (The AI voiceover) you need to escort your Minions to certain death and destruction in the grinders at the end of the marked lanes. At the same time you need to be defending the grinders at your side, preventing the enemy minions from getting there. The first team to 500 points wins the game.

Minions
Prologue
The Prologue is the very first mission you will play in Battleborn. You will have no choice as to which Battleborn you play as since Mellka is the character you have to play as in this mission. The mission will start with a 5 - 10 minute intro video which is skippable and will also end with a much shorter outro video. You will be able to replay the Prologue at any time but you will still be restricted to using Mellka. The main purpose for the Prologue is to teach you the basics of the game such as movement, combat and how some other game mechanics work.

Prologue Challenges

Some missions have challenges specific to them that other missions don't have. The Prologue has only one mission specific challenge but does not show any indication that it is a challenge or pop-up with any notifications once complete.

Deande Portraits

There are 4 Potraits of the Spymaster Deande dotted around this map. As stated above, there appears to be no Challege reward for finding them all and interacting with them but doing so will give 350 Score for each Portrait that you interact with. This will of course help towards getting a Gold Medal for finishing the mission.

Deande Portrait 1

As you can see from the images above, there is a screenshot of the Portrait, the map location and what it looks like after interacting with the Portrait.

Tip - You can view your map by pressing and holding the number 3 on your keyboard.

_______________________________________________________________________________

Deande Portrait 2

The second Deande Portrait is located behind the gate pictured above. To get past this gate you will need to use Mellka's Spike Jump. You will jump much higher if you use the ability while already jumping, the ability itself does not need to be upgraded to get over the gate.

As you can see from the images above, there is a screenshot of the Portrait, the map location and what it looks like after interacting with the Portrait.

_______________________________________________________________________________

Deande Portrait 3

The third Portrait is located just on the right side of an archway right before you have to use Mellka's Spike Jump to progress forward.

As you can see from the images above, there is a screenshot of the Portrait, the map location and what it looks like after interacting with the Portrait.

_______________________________________________________________________________

Deande Portrait 4

The fourth Portrait is located down a path to the left immediately as you go through the gate that required 500 Shards to open. When you go through the gate to the left, turn right down the path and you will find it at the very end.

As you can see from the images above, there is a screenshot of the Portrait, the map location and what it looks like after interacting with the Portrait.
The Algorithm Walkthrough(Story Mission)
The Algorithm is the first episode in Battleborn Story Missions. It is highly recommended to play as a Battleborn character that has at least one ranged attack as the final boss fight can be difficult to melee.

The first step in The Algorithm is to make your way outside the warehouse and across the bridge. There are alot of enemies here which shouldn't pose too much of a threat, however there are also two snipers on a raised walkway that can be more difficult to kill as a melee character.

After crossing the bridge you will come to the next area with 3 large vents blocked by laser shields, as the audio conversation between Ghalt, Deande, Kleese and Mellka suggests, it is very intriguing and you should definitely find a way in there.

You can do so by locating the large Shard Cluster (marked on mini-map) and destroying it. More enemies will spawn once the shields have been dropped. Before dropping into the vents there is an area on top of a ramp that has 3 hidden chests at the top for possible Extra Lives, Score, XP and other beneficial Powerups. You can see the ramp to the far left side of the image below.

Once the enemies have been taken care of you can proceed into the vents. Once you pass through the vents you will find yourself in a large open room. There will be some enemies in here and more will spawn in when you kill them. Once those have been destroyed the boss fight with H3NCHM4N will begin.

Boss Battle: H3NCHM4N

H3NCHM4N is the first boss in The Algorithm. He will have a large shield around him that absorbs all damage. Once the shield is disabled he will only be vulnerable for a short while before he replenishes the shield. Some attacks such as Ambra's **** can reduce H3NCHM4N's health regardless of his shields.

H3NCHM4N will launch slow moving bouncing grenades that deal damage on impact and slow the player for 10 seconds. He can also fly into the air and slam down to where you are standing to perform an AoE stun effect. The radius of the stun is not very big so it is easily avoidable.

At 50% of H3NCHM4N's health he will use the Minion Teleporters to make a Clone of himself called H3NCHM4N TOO. The Clones defence rating is much lower but it has the same abilities as H3NCHM4N.

Once H3NCHM4N has been destroyed a large door will open up, there will be a large red chest directly in front of you. Kill the enemies in this room and stand on the Pressure Pad to open the bulkhead door. Once outside you will have to cross a large bridge protected by a bunch of tough enemies including M3 Shield Drones and an MX Elite Bot.

You will need to destroy two Shard Clusters on either side of the bridge to drop the shield that blocks access to the next area. The area through the shield gate can contain yet another MX Elite Bot and a few smaller enemies. Once destroyed keep moving through the facility to fight Geoff!

Boss Battle: Geoff

Geoff calls himself Arachnis, the Spider King! The fight will not begin until you activate the fumigation system that Kleese mentions. You will need to stand on the Pressure Pad in order to do this so Geoff comes down to fight. Geoff is able to call out a few varieties of robotic enemies to help him including Shock Turrets. Shooting his red 'eye' will result in Critical Hits and deal the most damage.

Geoff will mostly attack with his two cannons on either side of his head, occasionally stopping to use a Stomp ability that does a high amount of damage and knockback in the affected area. Once Geoff is at 75% remaining health he will use a shield to make himself invulnerable to damage and retreat for upgrades.

Follow Geoff inside the facility to activate the fumigation system using the 3 pads inside then run back outside before you lose too much health. Geoff will now shoot out Spider Webs that will stun you in place for 5 seconds if stood on. At 50% remaining health Geoff will sheild himself and retreat for more upgrades.

Follow Geoff inside again and activate the fumigation system using the 3 pads once again. Before activating all 3 pads there is a large red chest found in this facility that you should open. Once Geoff is back outside he will start to spawn Shock Turrets but will no longer retreat for upgrades.

After beating Geoff you will enter a large ice cavern, to progress through this area you must destroy all of the Shard Clusters to disable the cooling towers and melt the ice. You will then drop down into some vents and into a large open area. You need to stand on the nearby Pressure Pad to activate the drill and engage The Galactic Emperor.

Boss Battle: Galactic Emperor

The Galactic Emperor can only be damaged by shooting at his chest. Once damaged enough he will retreat underground and spawn Frigid Guardians. When he resurfaces you can kill him to move to the next area.

Continue down the path towards ISIC and kill all the enemies along the bridge with magma rivers.

Boss Battle: ISIC MAGNUS

To damage ISIC you need to shoot 1 of 4 tubes on his legs. This will disable ISIC for a few seconds so you can shoot his weak spot beneath him.

ISIC will also start to spawn minions and homing missiles that deal damage. The floor will be glowing red to indicate where these will spawn so move out of the area to avoid damage. Once ISIC has only 25% remaining health, his body will be destroyed and his skull will begin to fly around. At this point it becomes almost impossible to melee him because he constantly knocks you into the air often pushing you back up the central tunnel where you dropped down. Once you kill ISIC you will have completed the mission.

The Void's Edge Walkthrough (Story Mission)
Walkthrough

The Voids Edge is the second mission in Battleborn and there is no need to choose one type of character over another here as there is no difficult sections for any character.

The first step once you enter the mission is to walk around a narrow ledge being careful to not rush in too soon as Nova will fly the ship into the cliff and cause a landslide that will knock you off the ledge to your certain death. Once around the ledge there is a small group of enemies to kill then proceed through the door to the left of the shielded gate.

Clear the room of enemies and proceed through the broken window to enter the base.

Unlock Requirements

Season Pass

1 Hero Key
47,500 Credits

Bio

Raised as a healer, but forced to be a warrior, Alani is all that remains of her order after Rendain’s Imperium stole the oceans from her world. Through meditation, intense focus, and warranty-breaking misuse of water-soluble nanotech, she can summon tidal waves with the flick of a finger.

_______________________________________________________________________________

Abilities

Passive

Osmosis
Successful hits with Torrent hone Alani's connection to the water, generating up to 3 Osmosis stacks and increasing the healing power of Wellspring.

Weapon

Torrent
Alani hurls water bolts using Ket, her order's martial art. Successful hits increase stacks of Osmosis. 15 hits grants 3 full Osmosis stacks providing the maximum healing power. This will be your primary attack.

Talent

Wellspring
Envelops a single friendly target in water, healing them. If untargeted, Wellspring heals Alani for half the amount. Heal amount is increased by Osmosis stacks. When looking at a friendly target the Wellspring icon will appear on them, press RMB to heal them. Can also heal certain Minions such as the M3 Shepherd Bots.

Skill 1

Riptide
Hurls a wave that deals damage, pushes away enemies, and leaves a trail of water that hastens allies. Riptide’s trail of water lasts for several seconds.

Skill 2

Geyser
Alani causes a groundswell to erupt at a targeted location, knocking enemies into the air, dealing damage, and binding players in a bubble for around 3 seconds.

Ultimate

Emergence
Marks a target enemy or location, summoning a water dragon that deals damage to enemies caught in its wake.

Builds

_________________PvE_______________________________________PvP______________

Builds Breakdown

  • Soothing Mist/Splash Zone

Either of these are good in both Story Missions and PvP Matches, its really personal preference. I found that in PvP overall Soothing Mist is better as you can extend the duration of Riptide later on and it heals both you, your team and minions over a greater distance.

  • Diffusion/Surface Tension

Diffusion is technically PvP because it refers to when players are bound by Geyser (in a bubble) but i found that the amount of times you bubble more than one player is minimal and is best to choose +30% increased damage plus 30% of the total damage from the first target goes to ALL nearby enemies. Therefore Surface Tension is better for both PvE and PvP.

  • Whitewater/Kinetic Diffusion/ Go with the Flow

Whitewater and Go with the Flow are best choices here, both are personal preference. I choose Go with the Flow to reduce cooldown times for all skills including Alani's Ultimate but Torrent Attack Speed is also good because it allows for stacking Osmosis faster meaning faster healing. If you are playing Alani correctly you will not be at maximum Osmosis stacks long enough or often enough to benefit 30% movement speed.

  • Wet Blanket/Wave Shock/Ride the Wave

Personal preference here again. I choose to always use Wave Shock as it does huge DoT to both players and minions. Wet Blanket slows enemies which can prevent them from escaping and Ride the Wave gives Alani an escape.

  • Karakafruit Express/Extremophile/Full Saturation

All of these are personal preference here. I choose between Karakafruit and Full Saturation generally which increase Torrent damage by 15% for 3 seconds or 100% damage reduction for 6 seconds when healing with maximum Osmosis stacks. Extremophile is also useful provided you heal at maximum Osmosis stacks only.

  • Channeling/Refresher

Here i always choose Refresher because it is more reliable whereas Channeling requires you to knock enemies into the air. Often enemies or players can move out of Geyser before it shoots up making it less reliable.

  • Pressure Wash/Overflow

This again is personal preference as you can either shoot Torrent further and generate Osmosis faster or increase your minimum Wellspring healing by 15%. Personally i have no requirements to shoot further than Torrent does and gaining Osmosis stacks is relatively quick anyway.

  • Aquifer/Pressure Valve/Ol' Trustworthy

Ol' Trustworthy is my choice here as it increases the radius of your healing effect if you had chosen the 1st level Helix Splash Zone and the damage done to enemies by 25%. Eruption time being reduced 30% would be situational at best. Combine Ol' Trustworthy with 3rd level Helix Go with the Flow to reduce cooldown to maximise healing and damage through Geyser.

  • Stagnant Pools/Water Proof

Stagnant Pools is best here as it increases the duration of Riptide. Assuming you have chosen the 1st and 4th level Helix choices, you will have 3 seconds more worth of healing your teammates and damaging the enemy. These three Helix choices combined are incredibly powerful in PvP and can mean the difference between life and death.

  • Undertow/Transpiration/Deepsong

Here the best choices are Undertow and Deepsong. It is personal preference which you choose but generally for PvP i choose Undertow to slow all enemies and keep them in the AoE of the Ultimate ability longer and in PvE i choose Deepsong to do massive healing per second to allies. Deepsong is very effective in PvP and when used correctly can help the final push to winning an Incursion match.

Gear Loadout

This is the Gear Loadout i used for both PvP and PvE on Alani on Incursion and Meltdown before completing her Lore for the Unique Legendary item. This Gear Loadout is quite expensive but at around 10 minutes into the game you should already be looking at activating your second legendary item after already having activated the Veil Manipulator. This is a very strong late-game loadout.

  • Herald's Return/Vortex/Calamity

All of these choices are personal preference and all are viable when used correctly here. I personally choose Vortex in both PvP and PvE. Herald's Return will allow you to stun enemies more and Calamity prevents enemies from healing so either of those are solid choices in PvP but not so much PvE unless you choose Herald's Return in PvE then choose Helix 2 Shield Throw together.

  • Skilled Throw/Mark of the Feeble

Mark of the Feeble for PvP and Skilled Throw for PvE. The enemies in PvE rarely heal so Mark of the Feeble is useless but in PvP Mark of the Feeble is much better for taking down enemy players as any players you have stunned with Shield Throw will not be able to either heal or be healed.

  • Sentinel Stance/Gashing Bash/It's Dangerous to go Alone

I choose It's Dangerous to go Alone for both PvE and PvP simply because while at full health you will literally destroy enemy minons or players in seconds. Combine it with Helix 2 Mark of the Feeble and an opening Shield Throw and before they are able to move again they are basically dead. Sentinel Stance is really the only other useful one because it allows you to build Corruption while blocking which allows you to heal without being damaged.

  • Chaotic Infusion/Bleak Quiet/Forsaken Grounds

Either Bleak Quiet or Forsaken Grounds here are viable for both PvP and PvE, both are personal preference. Personally i like to take the PvP build above to pull enemies towards me, slow them, silence them and destroy them. Forsaken Grounds also works well alongside Helix 1 Vortex, Helix 6 Dark Age and Helix 8 Inescapable Fate for quickly disposing of enemy minions or players.

  • Last Light/Antihero/The Pact

The only one i choose here for PvP and PvE is Antihero. The 35% increase in Attack Speed is VERY noticable and the damage output is huge when combined with Helix 3 It's Dangerous to go Alone. Corruption doesn't really heal fast enough to make enough use of The Pact in my opinion and +4 Health Regen from Last Light is just not worth it. Antihero should be the obvious choice for most Galilea builds.

  • Dark Age/Forsaking Others

I choose Dark Age here for my builds in both PvP and PvE. The main reason for this is that the other Helix choices massively increase Desecrate's utility and it is the bread and butter of my build. Forsaking Others heals for +105 Health Regen over 5 seconds, by Helix level 6 in a game the amount of health Galilea has makes this an insignificant amount of health.

  • Mirror Knight/Duelist

Mirror Knight for both PvP and PvE here. Galilea needs her shield and should not be without it for long enough to make use of +18% damage Duelist gives. You do not need to be actively blocking with the shield for it to reflect projectiles.

  • Inescapable Fate/Blight Town/The Black Wind Howls

Inescapable Fate is the best choice here for PvP as it slows them down and keeps them in the Desecrate field for longer. This can mean increased damage, longer silence duration or more damage over time done to them. Blight Town is also useful if you are focusing more on Minions as it gives your negative effects a wider radius damage them. Movement speed is not very important against the other two choices unless you want to be able to escape a fight rather than destroy your enemies.

  • Defender's Dare/Tideturner

Either of these are good choices but mostly depends on what build you go with. If you choose to use a build that focuses more on using the shield then Defender's Dare. If you choose to use a build based around Desecrate then Tideturner is the better choice, but its mostly personal preference.

  • Deeper Than Doubt/Pitch Black

Pitch Black is the option i use in both PvP and PvE because being fully Corupted during Abyssal Form means the amount of healing your receive is greater while you are harder to damage. This works especially well in a large group of enemies. Deeper than Doubt is more useful if you are not using Abyssal Form for healing but to deal damage. In most cases you will be using Abyssal Form to heal since the damage is not that great.

Class. Sophistication. Insanity. Formerly butler to Phoebe, Marquis d'Caliber was driven mad by a sudden loss of connection to the LLC's governing AI. Now, this high-society sociopath wreaks havoc on the unwashed masses in his endless pursuit of profit.

_______________________________________________________________________________

Abilities

Passive

Ein, Zwei, Die
Rifle shots mark targets. The third shot on the same target adds 50% of your attack damage as bonus damage.

Weapon

Bindlebane
Marquis' signature collapsible sniper rifle, fit with a custom hilt pistol for close-range engagement. Heavily augmentable.

Talent

Titanium Dandy MK VI
Marquis' relatively fragile chassis necessitates careful, strategic engagement with enemy Battleborn.

Skill 1

Temporal Distortion
Alter the flow of time in a targeted area for 6 seconds, slowing all enemies who are inside of the time warp.

Skill 2

Predatory Strike
Deploys Hoodini to a target location. Hoodini reveals nearby enemies on the map and collides with them, dealing 208-280 damage. Up to 3 owls can be active at once. Maximum of 5 owls with Helix choices.

Ultimate

Bindleblast
A powerful single shot that deals 525-750 damage, and increases its damage the longer it is in flight. Must be charged before firing.

Builds

_________________PvE_______________________________________PvP______________

Builds Breakdown

  • The Great(er) Hoodini/Strigiform Swiftness/Waste Makes Haste

All of these choices are personal preference and all are viable when used correctly here. I personally choose Waste Makes Haste in both PvP and PvE. Basically slowing enemy players or minions whilst increasing your teams speed is just more beneficial to the others in my opinion.

  • Phaseflyer/Eyes Everywhere/Hoodunnit

Hoodunnit for PvP and Phaseflyer for PvE. The main reason for this is because later in the game when you have 5 owls on the field all cloaked with increased damage plus damage over time effects, you are player and minion killing machine. Cloaked owls are useless in PvE and you rarely need to reveal cloaked enemies so non collision owls are best.

  • Ocular Enhancements/Bullet Banker/Executive Barrel-Porting

In PvP here you would choose Executive Barrel-Porting for the -60% Recoil. This is a huge amount when chaining shots together to take down an enemy player quicker. In PvE the urgency of worrying about Recoil is far less important so i personally choose increased Clip Size for PvE.

  • Time Killer/Big Time

Time Killer should be the option you choose here for both PvP and PvE as it gives you much more control over both enemy players and minions. If you need to escape from a fight dropping this down at your feet alongside an owl could snag you the kill instead of being killed yourself. Big Time is more situational such as on Capture Mode or possibly some areas of Incursion Mode.

  • Efficient Expert/Executive Access/Eins, Zwei, Cry

Either Efficiency Expert or Eins, Zwei, Cry here are the best options. When shooting an enemy player 9 times out of 10 shooting them twice will have lost them their shields so Executive Access is pointless. Eins, Zwei, Die adds 50% Attack Damage to the third shot on a target so its increased to 75% of Attack Damage with Eins, Zwei, Cry. Personally i choose to activate Eins, Zwei, Die's bonus damage on the second shot since you then need less shots to deal more damage quicker.

  • Long-Haul Hoodini/Parliamentary, My Dear!/Distant Time

Cast Distance is useful being a sniper but having +2 owls brings the total upto 5 owls on the battlefield which can easily cover every lane/capture point in all PvP maps. Combine them all with Cloak and Damage over time Helix choices and they are deadly.

  • Autoloader/Bang for the Buck

These two are personal preference, in theory you can shoot faster and reload faster with Autoloader but this might also mean you are rushing your shots, and if you are not rushing your shots then you are wasting this choice anyway. Personally i choose the +18% Damage because i can always benefit from that.

  • Windfall/Hoot of the Vigilant

Either of these choices are good choices. Hoot of the Vigilant is probably slightly better since the owls will shoot twice while targeting an enemy then also explode in their faces. Windfall is my choice since i use owls mostly in combination with Temporal Distortion so enemies are slowed enough to make use of the Damage over time.

  • Time to Spare/Cease and Desist

Cease and Desis is more useful for PvP as enemies will barely be able to move once hit by it but Time to Spare lasts longer. I use Time to Spare in PvE since it will always slow enemies anyway especially when there are waves of enemies coming.

  • Bindleblast(s)/Wallhax.exe

Bindleblast(s) hits for an extra 34% damage assuming you hit both shots on target. The shots will basically do 67% of the damage one shot would do but twice totalling 134%. Personally i choose Wallhax.exe simply because you don't need to have line of sight to hit enemies, meaning you can be behind cover but still deal that damage.

Borderlands Easter Eggs
Gearbox are the Developers of Battleborn and they are also the Developers for the Borderlands series. During PAX East 2016 Randy Pitchford confirmed that there will be another Borderlands game that may or may not be titled, Borderlands 3. He also hinted that Battleborn's DLC will include Easter Eggs relating to Borderlands 3. This section will show you all of the Borderlands related Easter Eggs in the game.

No Rest for the Wicked

The Achievement 'No Rest for the Wicked' in Battleborn is a little Easter Egg for the first Borderlands game. The theme song for Borderlands was called No Rest for the Wicked.

Psycho Mask

For this Easter Egg we may be stretching our imaginations a little bit but if you look closely enough, does this wall detailing not look very familiar to Borderlands Psycho Masks?

Vaulting Hunter

Thorn's level 7 Helix has an option called Vaulting Hunter. This is clearly a reference to our Vault Hunter friends from Pandora. You would have to have an Eagle Eye to spot that one though. Fortunately Draconis pointed this one out for us!

Bugs & Exploits
The Algorithm

  • It is possible to jump down behind the walkway and be permanently stuck with no way of getting out or suiciding in the area with the large drill where you fight Galactic Emperor. Characters with jumping abilities or flying abilities are able to get out

  • There is a terrain section next to the laser shielded vents section that has been misplaced enabling you to see under the map a little

  • It is possible for a Frigid Guardian to get stuck during The Galactic Emperor boss fight resulting in the Ice Drill not opening the next area preventing players from completing the mission.

The Void's Edge

  • It is possible to be hit whilst in the Helix menu when Warlord Nix smashes the window and have a permanent red/sparkle effect until the mission is completed or abandoned. It is difficult to tell from the screenshot but it is taken beside a rock pillar near the turret at the outside gate that Wolf the Sentry cuts through

The Renegade

  • Invincible Enemy - It is possible for an enemy - usually a Swarmer, to become invincible during the first zone defence event. There appears to be a failsafe timer in place and despite the enemy being invincible the wave will eventually end and the next wave can then start

The Archive

  • Infinite Burning - It is possible to be set on fire and permanently take fire / burning damage until the mission is completed or abandoned (Fixed 2/6/2016)

  • It is possible to get ahead of Chronicle just before the Final Boss area and collect an infinite amount of Shards and build the turrets in preparation for the Boss fight without Chronicle moving forward until you go close enough to him

Incursion - Overgrowth

  • It is possible for a long ranged Battleborn such as Marquis to 'snipe' the enemies first Sentry from either side without endangering themselves (Fixed 24/5/2016)

General Bugs

  • Standing next to exploding Shard Barrels does no damage at all

  • When starting a Story Mission at the Character selection screen just before the intro cinematic, your selected character will begin to say something but will be cut off when the intro cinematic starts. Either needs to be able to say something then start intro or not say anything at all before intro starts.

  • When finishing a PvP Match, the last message written in text chat will appear regardless of how long ago it was typed

Character Bugs

  • Master of Phoebe - Upon completing Phoebe's Lore you will earn the Title & Skin for Master of Phoebe regardless of what Character Level she is. You should only get them when you have all of her Lore complete, reach rank 15 and then complete another Mission/Match.

Over a year, but i still remember it.
When a great game is murdered, it will be remembered for a long time.
They could have released an update to change it into a local one player game

Theoretically yes, how many players depends on the challenges I think. It has been quite some time since even I played the game so honestly can't remember. Also note that all servers will be permanently shut down and multiplayer will no longer be possible from January 2021.

Any idea if the achievements are still obtainable (in theory)? How many players would be required to boost the multiplayer stuff?

The "Gotta Punch 'em All" achievement can be completed in PvE, in hopes of the bots picking the battleborns you need to kill.
