How to Stop "Hook Camping" Killers
By Quickjoshy
The Hook Camping Epidemic must be stopped. Here is how I plan to do it.

The Problem
So I just got done playing a match of Dead by Daylight and realized that it seems every match I get in has a killer that is determined to sacrifice his prey that he's captured. He does this by standing next to or close to the hook to prevent anyone from taking his victim down. The surviors can either choose to sacrifice themselves or abandon their friend.
The Solution
Sadly, the only way to stop killers from camping is to give some sort of discouragement to them. In their mind, camping has no downsides and will win them the match. We must make a downside. The survivors must leave their friend and get as many generators as possible while he's waiting. Now, this won't stop the camping epidemic in one game, but after the campers realize that they can only kill one person per game because they always camp and let the others escape then they will know that their only option to get better is to actually try and get the rest of people.

OR, and here's a mighty big logical leap...
Give them INCENTIVE to hook.

As it stands, the reason we DON'T often want to hook is because:
- Lifting surv's is risky. They can shank us, blind us, body-block the hook or our path, block/stun us with palettes, drop firecrackers... And who knows what I might be forgetting.

- Unhooking is too easy to do and too difficult to punish. If done right in front of a killer by a full-health surv', the only way to punish properly is to get REAL close and tap the attack to lift them up directly into the dying state.
This takes time, however, and like the "lifting surv's" bullet point this can be negated with some proper trolling. Easiest and safest is to drop them ASAP after pulling them off. Even in the midst of the pulling off animation, the hooked surv' can be rescued with time to spare.
Furthermore, there are perks to grant invulnerability AND speed boosts that can and often are executed when doing this sort of thing. If at a SLIGHT distance from the unhook-er, lunging is equally pointless. The only killers that can counter this sort of bullshit are those with oneshot attacks. The Cannibal is best for it, due to the multi-swinging chainsaw.

- Slugged surv's take time to heal unless the healer has the insta-heal perk or such. Unlike hooking, they are required to finish the action in order to resuscitate their ally. Furthermore, while there is no lift off animation to insta-down at REALLY close range, it's much easier to score a hit on a healer than a hooker, as they have no hook to block the killer.

- Hooks can be a rarity or a pain. Sometimes hooks have been destroyed in an entire section of the map, making carrying a surv' to one both impractical and impossible. Sometimes hooks are just poorly placed in the environment, resulting in too lengthy a trek, too many obstacles or no actual entries/exits out of a structure to reach the hook in time.
- Hooking is unreliable. Because of the way hooking works, a surv' can be rescued at a fraction of their remaining life-force without any particular difficulty. As the loss of life halts immediately, it's very simple to watch the timer to specific points and only rescue when entirely necessary. This is especially infuriating when done JUST before a surv' reaches the second stage of hooking, but is equally enraging when done just as the timer is about to run out.
IN SUMMARY:
The only methods to counter the too-numerous ways hooks can get fucked and fuck killers over are... To camp the hook CLOSELY to prevent issues with distance when stopping unhooking and lifting at the worst possible times...
Or to slug and ignore the issues surrounding hooks entirely.

Unless, of course, survivors wish to change their tactics and allow hooking to occur.
But I highly doubt they'll stop trolling killers. It's too fun, right?

Not like, I'unno... Killers are people too and despise having all their efforts scattered to the wind at every turn by the most unfair tactics possible.
Only to then be made fun of post-game.

It's easier for most of them to suffer being called tunnelers, sluggers, campers, etc...
Than it is to suffer endless humiliation by hook-breakers, body-blockers with heal specialties, flashlights, palettes, etc.

It's more ez to Rank up as survivor than Killer (in theory, if the killer Sacrifice only 1 guy) so you don't care about the survivor Rank

The hooked guy loses his rank too, but i guess the killers will eventually learn.

only killing 1 survivor is a petty victory, which actually makes them lose their ranks, I guess that's bad enough, right?

I guess you missed the whole point I was making, anyway here's a guy that addresses all the HIGH level play problems:

No where does he mention hook camping, only bad pub players do that because it's bad. :balloonicorn:

So you are saying a method that survivors use to SURVIVE as their title shows is worse than a method that killers use to basically secure their loss by not KILLING their potential victims?
