What is The Herald?
The Herald is the first boss of the game. Not to be confused for level objective lieutenant's. For new players who haven't progressed in their upgrades The Herald is considered a pain and rather difficult to defeat.

This guide though rather brief will offer hints on how to defeat him.
Information and attacks
Codex entry for The Herald:

Nothing much to add to that so let's just get onto the attacks.

This first attack isn't listed in the Codex
Deamon summon:
The Herald spawns 3 generic deamons nothing too much to worry about just leave Seraph to kill them with her multi targeting using Orb also works too.

Dark Nova:
The Herald will fire upto 8 unholy projectiles in a circle twice at the start. After first and second smite The Herald will fire three waves of orbs. To avoid taking damage blink away from the Herald and simply jump over the orbs while shooting

Dark Nova is also the only attack he will use at the start. After your first smite prompt he will continue to use Dark Nova but will also use the following.

Flame Burst:
This is just the same as a Thaumaturge's Conflagration (The fire pillar they spawn). But unlock the version you've seen The Herald WILL spawn multiples all you have to do is just blink and move (Preferable to the side of the map with the most open space)

Reflective Skin:
The Herald turns a purple/black colour negating all gun damage and reverting it back to you. Just stop shooting and use your miracles instead until this buff wears off.

Energy wave:
The herald will create two moving pillars that will sweep slong the floor (One pillar to each side of him) all you have to do is double jump over or blink through it.

Pillar of Undoing:
This is the only attack that will be your downfall if you aren't good with Blink management or haven't invensted a shard into the Oath that increases the refresh rate of your blinks. The Herald will teleport your infront of him and instantly blast down a pillar of unholy light that is wide enough to cover The Herald in width. To avoid the damage you just have blink away the instant you appear infront of him.
Recommended Blessings, Weapons, Miracles
I'll start out with Miracles and weapons seeing how they are the easiest to control.

Just a heads up I refer to the weapons you pick-up from lockers as secondaries due to the limited ammo.

Weapons

Your default pistols are good but they are a little better should you pick to upgrade them to MK II or higher.

For your secondary it would be advised for either the Auto-pistols, Revolvers, Sub-machine gun or Assault rifle. The reasoning for these options is that you will me mostly mid-long range in this fight to best evade Dark Nova's orbs and with the model size of The Herald being large enough that you can just hold fire for Auto-pistols, Submachine gun and Assault rifle that their low accuracy from continuous fire becomes more an advantage making sure the majority of bullets still hit on target.

The Shotgun is optional but I'd only advise to use it if you're confidant in your abilties to evade attacks.

Miracles

This can vary depending on what you focused on crafting wise so my suggestion here maybe poor compared to your availability.

Orb I/II: Fires an orb along a linear path dealing 50/65 holy damage going out followed by 100/130 holy damage on return (Total of 150/195 holy damage) This is good since The Herald occasionally spawns additional Deamons in this fight and this miracle immediately kills them if your positioning is right. As a bonus since The Herald tends to float above the ground will get hit by it.

Sigil I/II: The Seraph marks all deamon's in range of applying a seal that when hit detonates for 50/75 holy damage. Since if using dual weapons (Handguns/REvolvers/Auto-Pistols) Seraph will always have one gun aimed at The Herald and her other on a deamon.

Embrace I/II: Seraph links herself to ALL deamons in range if the connection remains for a second all linked deamon's take 100/150 holy damage this is good for those times where The Herald enjoys closely stalking Seraph

Lightwell I/II: Since this stays active for a period of time and goes as high as any room you're in it deals 150/200 holy damage to anything that passes through the beam.

Blessings

Blessings are randomly picked from a deck every level so you don't have much control over getting recommended ones. But should you get lucky I would advise for the following.

Bloodlust: Increases Seraph's damage by 5% for 4/5/6/7/8 seconds after killing a deamon. Effects stack up to a maximum 3 times. Since The Herald spawns additional deamons it is possible (Depending on RNG) to keep this up for the majority of the battle.

Touch of Mortallity: This augments your Smite to now deal damage to anything close by dealing 100/125/150/175/200 holy damage giving you upto three miracles to do damage with. I don't have to point out the upsides but I DO have to point out the flaw. Taking this option does make you vunrable as during the smite animation you're immobile and can't blink to avoid damage from attacks.

Sacred Projectiles: You embune your bullets with holy magics that burn deamons for 60/70/80/90/100 holy damage over 3 seconds with addition hits refreshing the timer. This blessing is good if you opted in for Submachine gun or Assaault rifle as you can toggle between The Herald and the generic deamonsthrough this fight.

Deadly Grace: All damage is boosted by 15% for a second after blinking. The damage boost from this blessing stacks with Bloodlust and is great if you have a supreme shard on blink cooldown.
Bonus: Achivements
Being victorious in your battle will reward you with the Achivement "Herald"

However should you think that was easy you could opt in for the more difficult version of this battle. To obtain this dramatic battle you need to reach a difficulty rating of 6.0 BEFORE fighting The Herald to obtain the bonus achivement "Hardened"

Comet is pretty good on this fight. Jump up the walls and when the herald comes close, bomb him hard. Repel's also useful for the third set of projectiles if you're rubbish at dodging them.
