Firstly, DO NOT UNDERTAKE THE RED LIGHT GREEN LIGHT MINIGAME UNTIL AFTER YOU HAVE VIEWED THE FINAL SCENE BEFORE THE FINAL BOSS. I cannot stress how much headache and anger it will save you. If you manage to beat RLGL before viewing the final cutscene, you will need to go back and beat it again in order to get Genis's ultimate weapon, the One World kendama. If you wait until endgame to beat RLGL, you will get both the title and the weapon at the same time.

The Red Light Green Light extra step glitch is well-known, but I will go over it here just in case: after the Katz turns around, if you press the O button and then the Start button a millisecond afterwards, you will take another step forward and will not be noticed while the Katz is looking at you. Beware though, this glitch doesn't always work, so don't rely on it to get you through the levels. It's good for a small head start in Level 3, but don't try and abuse it too heavily for risk of the glitch not happening and you getting sent back to the beginning. Most certainly a death sentence in Level 3.

However, whether through luck or strategy, I managed to beat RLGL without using the glitch.

It should be noted that while the Katz's back is turned towards you, you cannot pause or choose to quit. This is exactly what I took advantage of. While mashing the O button to move forward, mash the Start button at the same time. As soon as the Katz turns around towards you, you will pause and stop moving. This makes it impossible to be caught moving unless you get bumped from behind.

I sincerely hope this helps at least some people. I detest this minigame, as I know many others do. Hopefully this can help others get through it at least a tiny bit easier. Good luck, and godspeed.
