Booting up the game
Just hit play in the game library.
Opening the character creator
Once the game opens up, hit the edit characters button.
The character creator
Once you see that it loads the next screen you will be able to now see a box with some choices. Such as name and image and such.

The first thing that we are going to want to enter is the name.
Naming your character
Using your keyboard type out the name most used to refer to the character. But try to use the shortest name as the name can only be so long.
Picking your characters Gender
This second question takes less time to answer, is your character a guy or girl you should know the answer beforehand so you dont waste time and remain stuck at this easy second question. Just do a little research of the character beforehand and then check the box which corresponds with your characters gender. If your character is neither male or female, pick one since there is no option yet for characters which genders dont apply to.
Assigning Stats
There are five areas which you select your characters proficiencies which go from a value of 1 to 10. Try to accurately gauge your characters talent in the areas and don't choose the default 5 in all areas or all 10 unless that character is a genius who has beaten Chuck Norris etc. Godlike to put it simply.
Catchphrases
This part should be easy, just get a quote from the character that suits them. But try to not have a paragraph long quote because that is cray cray. If no suitable quote exists, or there is none than improvise and just come up with something they might say. Even if it is farfetched or tame it's better than having nothing.
Characters Picture
When making your character you should know who you are making. Once you do you should pick out an image from the web, and then crop their face. When its cropped like that it allows us to get a better look at them from afar and it allows viewers to connect to them. Try to keep the images in PNG format to keep the most amount of pixels possible. If the game crashes it because the image is too big. Also, don't cancel out the image selection box because again the game will crash.
Characters Color
From what I believe the color decides there faction and is an easy way to classify what side the arena participant is on. I could be wrong. For deciding what they are on I go usually with a characters tendencies. If they are evil they are red. If they are sporadic with their choices they would be yellow. Stern if they are confident, Blue if they seem to be distant individuals. Light blue if they smile a lot, White, if they are pure or angelic. This is just how I decide. Not how you have to though,
Tags
The second to last step. Applying tags. This part doesn't take much time unless you have a lot of them so keep them to a minium because you don't want to have to be stuck deciding every character's tags. The tags sometimes refer to their series, their gender, their origin, their size if they are from an anime etc. You don't have to apply tags though they are nice to have when choosing who to select in the arena.
What not to do
When you make a character, search the workshop first if there is already a character of that type. If there is already one don't make a new one unless it is an alternate appearance and or form .The best places to search if someone is creating characters from a series is the collections which I will expand upon later. DONT PICK NSFW PICTURES. Your characters names don't really apply to this rule, though.
Collections
Collections are places where creators are compiling characters, events, and maps. These are the best places to look if you want inspiration to create more. Its also a good place to locate things that you may not know about from other series and places on the web. When you create a collection won't pick just one character, event or map to add at least have 4 otherwise it's not really a collection is it?
Last Step
Hit the "Add to Steam Workshop" check box to submit the character.
But my characters not there!
....The key to this is to wait. Wait a few minutes because there is a queue.

Then once its there, you have published your character! Now everyone can download your character!
Last Words
Since your character is there, there are now a few choices open to you that you cant directly do in the editor. In the workshop, you can open up your character and change its name and add letters beyond what was allowed in the editor. Or add some alternate names in the title of the workshop submission. You can also change the description of your submission because generic descriptions which are automatically generated are boring. Maybe add your characters stats, or invite people to favorite your workshop creations. Both? Anything goes memes, anything.
Steam Group
You may want to check out the group that I founded with the goal, and plan to create 100K unique submissions in the Ultimate Arena workshop. Here you can get help, attention, and chat about ultimate arena and the happenings in the ultimate arena community. Its called Create Dominion, and if you wish to join just submit at least one item to the workshop, and then post below that you wish to join. This also means that you will continue to create at least on and off new characters, events, and maps for Ultimate Arena.

The add steam button is in Editors list and then in Workshop Item Manager

Then you click "Add Fighter" and then wait for like 30 seconds, AND then, you update the new fighter with the fighter you just created, and then press "Submit Update" and there you go.

Any idea what the stats do? Like what does each of STR, SKL, LCK etc actually affect in-game?

Minor Tip: You can sorta cheat the character name limit by directly editing your character's files. I managed to fit my full username by renaming my folder, text file, entry in said text file, and image file.

Wondering if renaming the entry in the text file is enough or if renaming everything else is needed as well.

This is like the only legitimate guide I've seen so far for this "game."
