Helpful things about this guide
  • There is only one achievement for episode 2 that is guaranteed: "Anthology", listed under Day 4.

  • You will have to play through the episode multiple times to receive all the achievements. You can however try to minimize repeated playtime by restarting scenes before they save (return to main menu > continue episode) rather than playing the whole episode again. Just be aware that some ending achievements rely on your choices over the entire episode (i.e., Incomplete, Whole, Hollow).

  • Achievement "Traces of Silence" for episode 2 is partially dependent on choices from episode 1. There are details in the description under this achievement.

  • If you have already finished episode 3 before getting the achievement "Ever Changing" in this guide, make sure that in episode 3, when eating with Nenner as Emil, you allow Franz to paint you.

  • If you played episode 3 before getting the achievement "A curious colour", make sure that in your last episode 3 save you did not witness Klimt purchase the special paint at the Market (day 3). If you did then you'll have to restart episode 3.

Day 1
Summary of day:
  • Introduce yourself at the salon and choose to paint either Alphonse or Moritz.
  • Paint your first subject at the workshop.

Verklimt
Annoy Klimt
Click on "Gramophone" three times at the salon. Klimt will yell "Stop it please!" from the right side of the room and you should get the achievement. Do this before you leave for Franz's workshop for the first time.

The Riesenrad
Follow Grete through the Salon when first appearing there
The first time you are in the salon (your grandfather brings you there at the start of the game), keep clicking Grete (the blonde woman in the red dress) around the room until you get the achievement.

Spoilt for Choice
Get to know both gentlemen in order to paint them
Before choosing someone to paint, continue talking to both the "Well-rounded Gentleman" (Moritz) and the "Sturdy-looking Gentleman" (Alphonse) until hovering over each of them shows their name.

Traces of Silence
Find all the references to Wilma
When you are first at the Salon, click on:
  • "'Women With Violin'" painting in the salon at which you first arrive.
  • "Gramophone" playing Wilma's song at the salon.
  • Arthur on the balcony of the Salon. He will show up so long as you don't do both of the following in your last playthrough of episode 1:
    1. say you want to be with Arthur in Wilma's nightmare phone call with herself
    2. write a good composition or love song
That means that you can say you want to be with Arthur but create a bad composition, and still get Arthur to show up. Or create a good composition or love song, but don't say you want most to be with Arthur in the nightmare phone call. And of course, you can also do neither by creating a bad composition and saying you want something other than being with Arthur, in order to get Arthur to show up on the balcony.
  • Click on "Portfolio" to the left side of Franz's workshop. Flip through the sketches until you see the one with three silhouettes of a woman (i.e., the one that doesn't have FM at the top left, but the other one with a woman). Hit "Inspect" and then you should have the achievement.

St. Nicholas
Paint Moritz' gentle side
If you chose to paint Moritz at the salon, go through the following dialogue at Franz's workshop:

Those clothes you've chosen should do nicely. > Remain standing. > As you wish. > Did you grow up in a prosperous family? > 2000 Kronen (Lie). > ... in many regards we are finished. > Yes.

A monster
Paint Alphonse's true self
If you talked to Alphonse at the salon and chose to paint him, go through the following dialogue options with him at Franz's workshop:

Your tunic is immaculate. > Sit down. > How did you feel about your friends? > What's it like being a lieutenant? > Do you like those you lead? > No, it's me. Not you. > We're done.

No matter your final dialogue, he will see the painting and you will get the achievement.

That's how I like it
Paint Alphonse as he likes to be seen
If you chose to paint Alphonse, go through the following dialogue options while painting him at your workshop:

Your tunic is immaculate. > Remain standing. > You were liked by everyone? > What's it like being a lieutenant? > Have you considered other ways? > It varies from model to model. > We're done.

No matter your final response you will be forced to show Alphonse the painting, and you will get the achievement.

I was young...
Look through the sketches
When you're at Franz's workshop, click on "Portfolio" on the left side of the room. Hit "Inspect" for each of the three sketches.

...and needed the money
Decide to sell some of your sketches
You must have talked to Moritz (the well-rounded gentleman) at the salon often enough to ask him "You wanted to purchase one of my paintings?". Click on "Portfolio" at the left side of Franz's workshop. Select "Sell" for any of the portraits.

Tourist
Visit the Stephansdom and the Votivkirche
Whenever you're viewing the map of town, there are actually some locations that are not highlighted, but their names will pop up when you hover over them. Click on the ones that say Votiv Church (toward the left of the map) and St. Stephen's Cathedral (to the right of the map). Despite the Steam achievement description, you may also need to click on the Burgtheater too (close to center bottom left of map), as well as the City Hall and the Kartner Strasse. You can get this achievement any day.
Day 2
Summary of the day:
  • Have Grete critique your first work in town.
  • Meet granddad at the market and talk to Madame Thernhardt.
  • Eat at the café and notice the mathematician.
  • Request to paint either the mathematician or Madame Thernhardt.
  • Paint your second subject.

A curious colour
Acquire the colour at the market
At the Market, after you first speak with Madame Thernhardt, speak to the Herbalist. Ask him if he has art supplies, then ask him "About that colour..." Follow up by saying "Madame Thernhardt knows who I am..." and you'll get the achievement. You won't get the dialogue options to get this achievement if you witnessed Klimt purchase the special paint in your last episode 3 save (you'll need to restart episode 3 in that case).

Theatre expert
Find all references to theatre across Vienna
  • Go to the Café, make sure to click "Poster" on the wall to the left of the room (be sure to do this before you request to paint someone, as you will not be able to return to the café after that).
  • Click on "Burgtheater" on the map of town (next to the café).
  • Request to paint Madame Thernhardt at the market.

Ever Changing
Try to capture Emil Schell's nature
Choose to paint the mathematician at the café. To convince him, when you first talk to him, tell him "The layers of you are..." You can talk to him again after you have finished talking to Madame Thernhardt at the market a second time (i.e., when she asks you to read vials for her). Tell the mathematician "I want to paint you!" and he will agree. When he's at the workshop, he will storm out no matter what. Choose to paint him from memory, and no matter your choices you will end up with some portrait of him and get the achievement. If you have already played episode 3, you can only paint Emil if in episode 3, while dining with Nenner, you agreed to let Franz paint you.

Who I am
Paint the actresses' gluttony
Choose to paint Madame Thernhardt. Use the following dialogue in the workshop:

Would you mind undressing? > This is the woman I must paint. > We've never met. > You have beautiful hair. > Is there a role that you hated playing? > Is it alcohol? > What is it then? > You mentioned being on a diet?

The conversation will continue but you should have the achievement by now.
Day 3
Summary of the day:
  • Talk to Klimt and Grete at the salon.
  • Talk to Freud.
  • Paint self portrait.

Don't slip!
Let slip that you care about Grete
When you begin speaking to Dr. Freud, say "I wonder how you're supposed to help me? > There is none." You still get these dialogue options if you do the Déjà vu achievement first.

Déjà vu
Repeat Freud's dream
When you first arrive at Dr. Freud's office, follow this dialogue:

I have this recurring dream... > I dream that I'm lying right here...

This will reset the dialogue with him back to its beginning. Repeat the above two lines of dialogue another two times, and then you will get an achievement when Freud remarks on having the same conversation.

Incomplete
You managed to partially paint Franz' layers
Fill in 1-3 of Franz' layers in the self portrait. The dialogue options are dependent on which layers of your models you painted earlier in the episode. If you accidentally fill in none or all of the layers, you can restart the scene again before it saves. It saves at the end of trying to paint all the layers, when he says "This is me." Below is an example playthrough:

Paint Alphonse with the dialogue for the "A monster" achievement. Paint Madame Thernhardt with any dialogue.
Talk to Freud about your dreams.

During the self-portrait, use dialogue:
  • Pleading figure: ...he talked to others about me?
  • Cowering figure: I'm not sure... > Insecurity.
  • Deformed figure: Passion? > Being celebrated.
  • Torn figure: ...so revealing. > ...Klimt.

Hollow
You didn't manage to paint any of Franz' layers
During Franz's self portrait, answer his questions wrong so that you don't fill in any of his layers. (The dialogue is dependent on your playthrough.) If you accidentally paint a layer you can restart the scene before it saves. It saves after Franz tries painting all the layers, when he says "This is me." A sample playthrough for this achievement is:

Paint Alphonse and Madame Thernhardt.
Talk to Freud about your dreams.

When Franz is painting himself, use options:
  • Pleading figure: ...he asked about my blackouts?
  • Cowering figure: We're both strong.
  • Deformed figure: Passion? > Being celebrated.
  • Torn figure: ...so revealing. > ...Klimt.

Whole
Paint all layers that correspond with Franz' personality and recognize them
Fill in all layers of Franz's self-portrait correctly. To do this you should also befriend Grete by talking with her as nicely as you can whenever you can during your playthrough. If you mess up a layer, you can restart the scene before it saves. It saves after Franz has tried to paint all the layers, and he says "This is me." The dialogue options for the layers will differ depending on what layers you painted of your models earlier in the episode, but a sample playthrough is:

Choose to paint Alphonse and when at workshop use dialogue:
Your tunic is immaculate. > Sit down. > How did you feel about your friends? > What's it like being a lieutenant? > Do you like those you lead? > No, it's me. Not you. > We're done. > Yes.

Choose to paint Madame Thernhardt and at workshop use dialogue:
I'm fine. Let's continue. > Will you remove the veil, please? > This is the woman I must paint. > We've never met. > Your voice is very melodic. > Why did you become an actress? > Is it sex? > What is it then? > You said you knew granddad. > Your beauty is here on the canvas... > I'm not satisfied.

Self-portrait:
  • Pleading figure: ...he talked to others about me?
  • Cowering figure: I'm not sure > Insecurity.
  • Deformed figure: Passion? > Work.
  • Torn figure: ...so revealing. > ...Grete Lawniczak
