The main menu
So you've booted up the game,
you should be presented with a breath-taking main menu which you can see on the right.
I will go through each section but i won't go into too much detail about what each option does.
If you enlarge the image you will see we have many things to choose from. These are: Crime.net Crime.net-offline Quickplay Inventory Steam-inventory Crew-management Infamy Game-hub FBI-files Options Credits Quit
This is where all the public games are.
The icons with little player symbols inside them are games hosted by someone else.
The icons with a black circle inside them are unhosted lobbies, Select these to become host.
You may notice there's some extra stuff on the left side. The icon that says contract broker lets you choose any heist you want. Be aware, picking heists from the contract broker costs offshore money.
You can also press F to bring up some filters. These allow you to do such things as:
Friends only lobbies
Find games that haven't started yet
Visit peoples safe houses
And much more.
Crime.net offline
Not much to say here. It's basically crime.net but without the public games.
These are all single player games.
Quick play
This option lets you jump right into a random public game. You might want to configure the settings first though otherwise you might be thrown into a very hard game that you know nothing about.

When you enter the OPTIONS menu you will see something called "quickplay settings"
This is where you can configure your quickplay games to be more suited to your style.

The image on the right shows your quickplay options.
The difficulty setting should not be set higher than overkill difficulty, this is because anything above overkill starts getting extremely hard. Trust me you will have more fun on overkill or below.
Wait until you get more experience to play mayhem or higher.
You don't need to touch any of the other settings, worry about them later after you've played a few games.
Inventory

This is where all your equipment is.
All your guns, skills, masks, perks... it's all here.
As a new player you won't have much. There's not a whole lot you can do here yet.
Play a few heists first, earn some experience and money then come back here.
Once you have some money you can buy some brand new shiny weapons.
You can also use the skill points you acquired from XP to buy skills.
XP can also be converted into perk points, but don't worry it doesn't take away any skill points.
Steam inventory
This is just a shortcut to your steam inventory.
All your payday2 skins and safes will be found here.
This is also the place to OPEN SAFES.
You can't open safes anywhere else, you must do it from this menu.
If you're wondering how to get safes, they will randomly drop on the card select screen at the end of a heist.
You will only be able to obtain 1 per week so don't think you can just farm safes.
Crew management
This setting lets you customise the AI bots. It only works if you are hosting so keep that in mind.
Here you can give them weapons from your inventory. So you must buy a weapon first before the AI can use it.
There are also some special perks you can buy with continental coins. You probably won't have any coins yet though so don't worry about that.

You can get coins by playing a special mode called crime spree, but lets not focus on that until you know what you're doing first.
Infamy
Woah take a step back there.
You don't need to worry about this option until you reach level 100.
Don't even look at it just move to the next thing in the list.
Gamehub
This option just takes you to the community page where you can find the cancerous Lovely payday2 forums, artwork and other things.
FBI files
Don't worry about this option too much.
It just displays stats about your character and other peoples characters.
Most of the time it's not even accurate because the person has switched profiles.
There are some tips in here about the game but nothing too important.
Options
Speaks for itself, lets you optimise your game.
Not much else to say.
Credits
Bask in the magnificence of the game developers and all the other people who felt they should have their name on there too!
