@OleG Currently this mod has not been updated to the 1.5/Royal Court patch, as the devs changed how battles/dying rate works. There's probably a way to change it, but I haven't looked into it so I don't know where that would be in the code, sorry.

Is it possible to increase the dyingrate? I want a game where the character
cybrxkhan  [author] 8 Feb, 2022 @ 1:53pm
@Dr. Nolegs: Yeah this mod is depreciated for now given there's an entirely new system for battles.
Dr. Nolegs 8 Feb, 2022 @ 1:28pm
Mods completely broken, as knight_events.txt no longer exists, so it would need a full overhaul for 1.5

@Moloch Thanks! It's a pretty simple change honestly (literally just a couple numbers) but one I prefer obviously. Anyhow, I don't see any reason why it wouldn't be save compatible. Of course, always make a backup save just in case.
Moloch 4 Aug, 2021 @ 4:00pm
Thank you for keep supporting this mod, amazing work, btw is this mod save compatible?

Always pissed me off how i win a battle and my Marshal is the one who dies.

Many thanks, buddy! Have a good day!

Although the mod appears to work fine before, it's now officially updated to 1.4 so you shouldn't see the exclamation mark thing on the launcher anymore.

@cybrxkhan
Thanks, buddy!
I know the feeling, so I wish you a swift pc-related recovery!
Cheers!

@G.Strategos Hello old friend! This one might need a proper update (ie might need to change some code beyond getting rid of the warning) but I forgot about this one so I'll take a look at it later today. Sadly my PC is still borked but I can still upload the update on the old laptop I'm using atm.

Could you make a reversed version, i have trouble killing off this rebellious duke...
Nerule 18 Dec, 2020 @ 5:01pm
Holy shit, you have no idea how much this mod is needed. Half of Scandinavia is dead, due to all the wars we fight lol. Thanks mate
cybrxkhan  [author] 23 Oct, 2020 @ 2:23pm
@Greek Strategos: No prob! Glad you're enjoying things!
G.Strategos 23 Oct, 2020 @ 4:20am
@cybr
hehe, yeah that's probably it!
Thank you for checking! Having a blast, with VIET's events and my current playthrough!
Cheers!

@Greek Strategos: Hey there! Just did a quick check and doesn't seem like there's any new code in 1.1.2/1.1.3 that effected the relevant events. My values are still lower than vanilla's for wounding, maiming, and deaths - so just looks like RNG hasn't been too kind to you lol.
G.Strategos 22 Oct, 2020 @ 4:20pm
@cybr
Hey, buddy!

Were any base game values changed lately, along the small patches? I can see quite a few maimed and disfigured people lately (more than before and especially disfigured). Maybe it's just bad luck, not sure. If you have time, maybe you want to check it. FYI, I'm using Malorn's ''MND'' and ''More game rules'', the rest are mostly cosmetic mods .

Cheers!

I've just uploaded a new version of the mod. Vanilla Patch 1.1 reduced the chances of getting wounded or killed in battle, but it still kept the chances of getting wounded, maimed, and killed similar proportionally so I've more or less kept this mod's existing changes to the proportions in that regard.

@Rasta Tanca: Yup new version all good to go now!
Rasta Tanca 29 Sep, 2020 @ 7:44pm
Love this mod, any chance for an update?
cybrxkhan  [author] 22 Sep, 2020 @ 9:14am
@MIKA: Thanks! Based off the description of that mod I'm not 100% sure if it's compatible, but I'd suggest asking the creator of that mod if he or she modifies "knight_event.txt" to be sure, if that file is touched by that mod then you can just have my mod take precedence as that's the only file I edit.

@Snorri Norsebiter: Yeah I guess the Vikings are pretty OP from what I've heard atm even in vanilla. Normally outside of that, in my own games and when fighting normal battles, it seems like death can happen so it's still a risk but it doesn't wipe out whole families.
Brother Azkaellon 22 Sep, 2020 @ 8:16am
I have this mod, playing as alba, and still when I fight the bloody vikings, nearly every combat a berserkr rips somebodies head off...usually low prowess plebs, but still. Terrifying. Once had my 26 martials head ripped clean off in the first battle of the war. Bloody vikings.
MIKA 20 Sep, 2020 @ 2:40am
Hi! Wery nice mod!
I'm curious - is it compatible with "sane warfare"?
Gliese581 9 Sep, 2020 @ 11:14am
ajacksonian not to derail this thread but the arrows could likely not penetrate the knights plate armors. More likely the sheer volume of arrows on exhausted men stuck in the mud would find gaps between the plate and wound the knights making them sitting ducks. Also killing a knights horse could cause a devastating fall that could crush a man. Look up 'tod's workshop' on youtube they did rigorous testing of the arrow through armor hypothesis.
cybrxkhan  [author] 9 Sep, 2020 @ 9:59am
@ajacksonian That's why I only lowered the chances of dying/injuries, but did not prevent it (unlike another mod I think which prevents it outright if your prowess is high enough). For example in my current game my brother and one of my 15 sons still died in battle, and other sons have gotten injuries over the years. So I still keep the feel of vanilla where knights can and will die or get injured, but it's hopefully not to the extent it would cause weird situations like skewing the female to male ratio of rulers in bizarre amounts.
ajacksonian 9 Sep, 2020 @ 5:49am
Do remember Agincourt and the lesson learned there of knights being taken down by those trained archers before they could even get to the battle line. The army wasn't great, but the distance and skill of the archers changed much of the then current thought on heavily armored units. Mind you those were extremely well trained archers with weapons made to go through armor, man, armor, horse armor and horse. The knights were also of high capability, but they lost, with some of them suffocating to death in the mud of the battlefield or trampled by their own men. Want to see the cream of the crop taken out by skilled archers? Agincourt.
cybrxkhan  [author] 8 Sep, 2020 @ 1:55am
@Rams0505 At the moment it only touches the code for the knights. Commanders are handled in separate code and have a much lower chance of dying or getting injured compared to knights in vanilla.
Rams0505 7 Sep, 2020 @ 1:50am
This works only for knights or for commanding AI ruler as well?
cybrxkhan  [author] 5 Sep, 2020 @ 7:39pm
I've uploaded a new version with changes to the version compatibility per an error report from my other mod. Should not affect anything gameplay-wise.

@Gilese581 I've seen various reports from other players suggesting the same, that the odd male to female ratio of rulers is caused by all the men dying in battle. To toot my own horn, I'd recommend downloading my Recruit Courtiers mod if you find yourself running out of champions too quickly.

@Rams0505 It only affects the changes of dying overall to be much lower, so it doesn't touch any modifiers to those chances based on prowess and the like. However, because overall chances of dying are much lower, it should help with AI rulers dying needlessly.
Rams0505 5 Sep, 2020 @ 5:41pm
Will this stop AI rulers with super low prowess dying in battles? Every AI ruler is a children in my playthrough bc all the AI rulers will go die in battle even if they have 1 prowess they lead armies.
Gliese581 5 Sep, 2020 @ 7:53am
Something like this is definitely needed. I was watching the ratio of male to female rulers in the game and is raises steadily from the start of the game. Obviously in part because almost all the rulers start out male and then some does not sire male children (and PDX put daughters before uncles for some reason) but I think part of the reason is that the male population is also getting decimated in the endless wars of the aggressive AI.

I found myself running out of champions 35 years or so into my norse campaign and the feudal AIs that are getting hammered by the (currently) OP pagans must have it much worse in many instances assuming they follow the same rules.
Magic Cuboid 5 Sep, 2020 @ 7:20am
Hopefully this will make the AI a little more resilient too. Lots of powerful nobles are dying as knights.
leonnolan 5 Sep, 2020 @ 1:49am
Knights really shouldn't die this often, they were extremely hard to kill irl. Must have mod.
jglennv1 5 Sep, 2020 @ 12:00am
My family is safe thanks
ItsJustMyShadow 4 Sep, 2020 @ 10:25pm
Very much needed mod indeed.
Rasta Tanca 4 Sep, 2020 @ 6:35pm
Thanks for the mod, had my entire dynasty wiped out in less then 20 years because of death in battles.
