Being an old SH3-GWX hardcore player, I particularly enjoyed the recognition manual they put in their mod.
Would it be hard to adapt your mod to show more ship nfo? Like aspect ratios and GRT?
Just had a look to the source code. Seems straightforward tho. I would be glad to pitch in if needed. But I'm not knowledgeable enough with Unity framework.

After enabling this mod, the officers won't stay assigned to their task. I wouldn't think the book would have anything to do with officer tasks, so maybe it was the latest game patch that has broken- not the mod.
I'm still posting hoping the modder will take a look anyways, and maybe-possibly update this mod to version 2025.1 Patch 5. :)

I have a suggestion. When attacking, and officers have already identified a target, when you open the book it starts from scratch. Can the book start on the already selected ship?

Am unable to select the "military" category in the British ships section, every other section works just fine

Yeah, just double checked. The entry for the Escort Carrier is missing from the UK section, In-game date is December 1939. Wondering if this has to do with the "historical timing" aspect of the mod. There is a carrier in Scapa Flow during the campaign mission in 1939, so might be better to have it available in the ID booklet at warstart.

I think what Heine meant a few comments down is that the Aircraft Carrier is missing. I noticed during the Scapa Flow mission I couldn't recognize the aircraft carrier because there was no entry for it in the ID book.

I don't use ship bundles, so my specific case doesn't cover that. My issue hasn't reappeared. My current assumption is that in my case, it was just bad timing with updates, the general mess that save game loading from an active game appears to be (that always breaks all kinds of stuff with the whole targeting/assessment ui, including the unmodded booklet), and UBOAT for some reason not flushing the cache and datasheets after a patch.

HI, I presume it has more to do with the Shared Bundles mod, or WIP Ship Bundle mod, I do not know where silhouettes are stored-
but identification booklet misses silhouettes for freighter 04-07. (it shows Liberty silhouette instead) is it known? :)

@ii Sorry, it seems that the game only keeps the most recent 2 logs, and I launched more often since. I'll post one if it occurs again. I hope it shows anything useful, it's SO sparse!

@i9 do you perhaps have a log file from those occassions? One problem we all have with mods is that injections have became much less reliable than before and we need to add a lot of safeguards to prevent problems. What you describe could be caused by an injection failing and then breaking other things. A log may be useful to have to check what's going on

There seems to be an issue with variable substitution/data binding. It happened twice in the last few days. The data in the booklet just displayed stuff like

I didn't have the opportunity to test much, but I am hopeful that cleaning their accursed cache/datasheet garbage might help as a temp fix. It just now occured to me that I didn't even test whether it persisted between loads/restarts. I suspect it might also be something like the mod trying to copy the data into its own memory - without checking for successful returns - as soon as the script can execute, but before the game has actually loaded the data/made it available to the scripts, and not refreshing it after that? Or there's a problem with the paths/graphs/uris being accessed in a way that isn't intended?

@Wilhelm T2 not being in the book probably means you are playing before T2 is produced. The book is dynamic and loads all the existing ship classes in production at the present game time. This is why I had the warning in the description about the January 1941 start, as many classes of ships would only appear in-game later.

I can get the book to open no problem there.
But when i use the binoculars the game freezes and gives black screen (but still runs, no crash)
And you can just scroll back, and its fine.
UZO works no problem

Like others have said I'm unable to get the ID book to open. I click it, it highlights like it's open but there's no book.

I just installed and tried to use it with an existing save after clearing my cache and datasheets, and it seems to have bugged time compression. The values seem to be altered like 128x is 1800x and 1x is 48x, and the water textures are glitching out while looking through periscope/UZO. Would that be caused by the mod or did I do something wrong with the files? I just deleted the contents of the cache/datasheet folders

not working, either new game or old save, with and without data sheet clearing. the id book is not opening at all, with and without a target, it does NOT open.

I fixed this by clearing cache. Never have these problems on new save though.

@Wolf based on my investigation and what fellow modder paradox has found so far this is a static variable problem and *for some reason* moving the mod in the load order (the position does not matter) fixes this issue. This is a temporary fix though and we'd like to know what's going on lol

Update: I disabled this mod since I could not identify ships with no booklet at all,
then your historical flags mod started working right away.

Curious, I changed the game order so historical flags load first, then THIS mod, enabled the mod back, and loaded the save again without any deletion of cache or so.
This mod started working... :D XD It seems you have to play around a bit with it sometimes - dunno if it was the load order, or something else, but both of your mods are working now.

Hello, superb mod, I used it heavily before release.
I tried this post release version now,
after deleting contents of cache, data sheets and temp in locallow, and deleting contents of cache folder in the game folder,

(I am using this with a savegame, game started after release)


But when I load the save, in UZO, or periscope view clicking the ID book button does nothing anymore. It shows the effect that it is clicked, but no booklet appear. Nor vanilla, nor modded, sadly

I tried it seconds ago and after clicking any button, nothing happens. Only butten that works is the "X" button to close the book. Any idea? It is the only mod I activated.

There is a big text string "Default" shown within ships picture..
