Hi! I use MediBang and a blueprint paper texture I found online. But any digital art program would do. Something like Krita would offer a wider variety of brushes and Paint dot NET has some really nice effects you can apply to the image.
All the text is hand-written and I use a graphics tablet for that.

Hello Wendy! What app are you using to make your thumbnails?

Awesome.

Out of curiosity I was scrolling through some of the comments and found some drama, couldn't be bothered to read it all but I wanted to mention this is a great sub. I like the designs of the ones you make. I added a depth charge and some crew quarters to make it feel more homey. Another 10/10 submarine in my book, sails like a brick

Ass railgun simply wasn't worth it for the joke, so the "stinger" is in the front.

cool sub

My subs look nutty, and evil, so I must admit, my own sub building has told me things. I like the looks of the rot and the exterior colors, and I like your shapes. Well done.

Whatever
NotWendy  [author] 28 Apr @ 8:32am
That's good, but I don't think you've achieved much with your approach in this particular case.
I think supporting the creations you really do like is more effective. Trying to convince people whose creations don't quite match your standards to change their priorities is a lot more difficult.

"A bit weird to spend all this time arguing about something you want nothing to do with in practice."
I want workshop be a better place.
NotWendy  [author] 28 Apr @ 8:13am
That's alright then. A bit weird to spend all this time arguing about something you want nothing to do with in practice. But maybe there's fun in that.
As I've mentioned, I personally know what me and my crew want out of these submarines, so I've got solid reasons to build them this way. I'm obviously not gonna change its tier for someone far outside of the target audience. That's about it for this topic, I guess.
Kookoorooza 28 Apr @ 7:43am
I dont look for anything in particullar, im just scrolling workshop and i never will actually try any of those ships. I comparing vanilla submarines with this submarine. Im also not looking for any exact stats of ship, except there must be something "interesting" in it, like unmountable railgun with bad coverage, yes. I just dont know what to say not to repeat my words once again.
If you can beat the game on this sub, then you can beat the game on barsuk, you just need a mechanic with right tree talent to maximize hull.

Yes, there are reasons. If you wrote a more detailed description i wouldn't need to guess if it has really powerfull engine\pumps or not. If not, then 200 pump power on left side and 600 on right side is less than t1 ships have. If we comparing guns, then its weaker than most t2 even non combat ships and much weaked than t3. So once again, i cant see this ship as t3 ship.
NotWendy  [author] 28 Apr @ 3:35am
At the end of the day, the discussion comes down to what each of us is looking for in specific tiers and classes of submarines.
If the only problem with beating the game on a Barsuk for you is the lack of fabrication, then I have to wonder what the purpose of having stronger options would be. I mean, it sounds like Orca or Camel is pretty much all you'd need. Anything beyond that would presumably be a luxury. At which point, is there a reason to complain about the equipment installed on the Wasp?
NotWendy  [author] 28 Apr @ 3:34am
The general look of the submarine doesn't really tell the whole story, at least in my experience. The Wasp is certainly better what the Barsuk offers, primarily because you have way less blind spots and way more mobility, which allows you to approach fights on your own terms.
It's not particularly fancy, but it's comfortable enough and can deal with late-game threats.
You don't have to play the game with this submarine to decide whether you want to use it or not. But having practical experience with it helps when you're planning to extensively criticise it.
Kookoorooza 28 Apr @ 3:19am
I just not sure how to properly wright "Descent" so i wrote only Ascention, ideally there are a word for both, like vertical movement.

Im sorry, i just cant understand what i can see in this sub, that i never used before in other submarines.

Even barsuk can beat the game, and it will not be even hard, just annoying to craft ammo in stations, and if we comparing this sub to barsuk, whats the difference? Tier and railgun at nose? Do i really need to play to understand this?
NotWendy  [author] 27 Apr @ 4:25pm
I make these primarily for my own crew, and the balancing reflects that. Wasp is perfectly capable of beating the game, has a fun gimmick, and can be managed well enough by two people with no help from bots. It's the experience I was looking for, and so I built the sub this way.
NotWendy  [author] 27 Apr @ 4:24pm
I do appreciate the feedback, because it gives me insight into how other people play the game. I also do have some clarifications to make.

Ascent speed is the same for all submarines. When your submarine is 100% air and 0% water, it ascends at the max speed allowed by the game's code, with insignificant variability.
Descent speed differs significantly from sub to sub, based on ballast volume relative to the volume of the entire submarine. Wasp has lower neutral ballast level than most vanilla subs, meaning its descent speed is higher than what you'd normally see.

There's nothing stopping you from not using this submarine if you've tried it out and decided that it's not worth it. Or, hell, you don't have to try it out, you can skip that step entirely. But it gets harder to have a coherent discussion when the main source of critique is someone who hasn't touched the submarine in game.
Kookoorooza 27 Apr @ 4:08pm
Its not need to be stronger, if this ship doesnt have overclocked pumps or engine to like x2-3 of its vanilla stats, then its clearly t1 or t2 as maximum
Kookoorooza 27 Apr @ 4:06pm
Im sorry, but what does class affect in this game? Like, literally nothing? Oh, you can put radar... So cool... Humpback is small enough, have the same amount of guns and much more pumps.
Specialized on what? Use properly what? There are literally nothing in this sub, to be not like in vanilla. If we imagine this ship goes for 50kmh with experienced crew, then it is useless, since even 35kmh is way too fast for all creatures and, you know, walls, that you need to evade, but there are super small ballast tank, so ascension speed will be on barsuk level.

Blindspots are not matters anyways, untill you rammed a wall, of course.
NotWendy  [author] 27 Apr @ 3:54pm
Eh, you can for sure find stronger options for a T3, especially if you're running a decently large crew. The game just isn't hard enough as a whole to necessitate using those stronger submarines.
RustedRegime 27 Apr @ 2:48pm
@Kookoorooza

Look, comparing Wasp to a T1 transport is ridiculous. They're completely different classes. Wasp isn't underpowered - it's specialized. If you're expecting it to be a massive gun platform like Typhon or Winterhalter, you've missed the entire concept. Either learn to use it properly or stick with the heavyweight gunboats like the Typhon2.

Also look at these gun-angles man, they are fucking evil. almost 360. Wont find that on any tier 1 attack afaik.
NotWendy  [author] 27 Apr @ 2:09pm
If you've played some rounds with this submarine and deemed it to be underpowered for its tier, sure. I'll take it. Maybe its mobility, which is high even for a vanilla T3 Attack submarine just wasn't enough.
I had a good time on it with my crew, though.
Kookoorooza 27 Apr @ 1:57pm
This much? 3 guns like camel and railgun with small attack cone(?) on the most useless position in game, and that is overall most weak external gun in game.
t2 humpback is also having 3 guns and rail.
NotWendy  [author] 27 Apr @ 1:53pm
I'm sorry, but if you need this much firepower on your T1, you're cooked. You're not built for these cold waters.
Kookoorooza 27 Apr @ 1:48pm
It honestly more feels like t1 attack.
RustedRegime 27 Apr @ 11:06am

Unga-bunga, stack bricks to make submarine.

box maxxing shell design

borg would be proud
NotWendy  [author] 27 Apr @ 9:42am
Thank you. Clean shell design and a convenient internal layout is what I normally aim for when creating submarines.
Mr.Shady 27 Apr @ 8:22am
Intriguing at first, i was fascinated by such simple yet unique idea of this submarine.
- great gun coverage
- water drainage
- junction boxes with relay components
- good navigation inside the submarine
- easy shell design

I'm very envy yet happy to see this creation. well done! :captainclown::pint:

Very depressing looking, i quite like it. good job. looking forward to playing it.
