An unusual effect with things like "you suck!" and "get owned!" doesn't make something a taunt, and frankly does not fit within a game that is meant to take place in the 70's. Having text in capital letters floating around the player doesn't look good and feels cluttered. I also agree with Sneaky, in the sense that this wouldn't translate well for players who don't understand English.
