@ココアお姉ちゃん You can solve in 4 yuan without using the extra NOT gate but it takes very strange wiring

I don't know how to solve in 4 yuan. The AND gate in the last row can only output the NAND value, isn't it? So I have to use an extra NOT gate to get the AND value.

Solved for 4 yuan, and then for 15/739/24 with 5 microcontrollers. Fun!

Wonderful puzzle! So cool to actually trot out a notebook and figure out some truth tables!

And pv2b, yeah it's impossible on a single PGA33X6. The minimum number of terms you can simplify the equation to is 7 total, which is just one too many.

Wow, I finally did it. 4 yuan solution is disgusting.

After spending 2-3 hours just trying to get this flipping thing to work, I finally got it. It was a very clean solution for 5 yuan. Then 15mins later I got the 4 yuan one which is a hideous mess.

Way to think outside the box, ShadowTheAge! :-) I had the idea of seeing if I could sneak a microcontroller in there, but I incorrectly concluded it was impossible due to the pinout.

Logic-only puzzle? NOPE :D https://imgur.com/a/QKgqv

Thanks for the encouragement. Knowing that 4 yuan was possible was what I needed to turn my frown upside down, flip out, and solve the puzzle. :-)

Thanks, yeah I see how you could easily do 4 yuan on a different board. I take back my previous message, I have no clue how to remove that NOT gate.

Ah, yeah, I think I see how a 4 yuan solution is possible. Mainly because the OR gates are technically superfluous in this scenario .
Now to find out how to get that extra NOT gate out.

With only logic gates, I might add. 2xAND, 2xXOR

I got 4 yuan. It's quite possible.

Annoying board layout forces you to rack your brain when routing the wires. Can this be done cheaper than 5 yuan? I could get it to 4 if I could get rid of a pesky NOT gate. Also, I wonder if this is doable with a PGA33X6 (on a different board layout obviously). I tried it on my own, but as far as I can tell there aren't enough terms in it to do a full adder, which is a shame.

Brilliant!

I wanted to make a logic-gate-only puzzle, so I made a memory latch. Why didn't I think of this one?

Clever board design too, forces the logic solution.

So far this is my favorite of the workshop puzzles.

This one is infuriating! Why can't we overlap bridges? Haha
