It used to be in campaign, but I took it out a while ago. I've been thinking of using parts of it for underway battle maps though.

@Cornelius Crispus I haven't started working on a new Karak yet, I've been quite busy modding the Grand Campaign mod :) I've got a small map I'm working on, but that's not too far along yet.

So, I got the chance to try this map out when some gobbo who thought he was clever sneak attacked Karaz-a-Karak. It's a pretty awesome map to play on, even if the AI does have some issues.

Graphically, however, the lighting seems to be pretty wonky. Besides the fact that lighting effects seem to flicker on and off based on where the camera is (which looks pretty bad when the camera is in motion) there's also a few surfaces that seem to be lit up for no reason. For example, the section of the cavern's western wall with the exposed dwarfen architecture is much more brightly lit than the cavern roof above it, as if there was a strong light source coming from due east, but there doesn't seem to actually be anything of the sort in the cavern.

Also, how do you do shadows on your map? Like the original Karak Kadrin map? I'm having trouble making the map appear darker in some areas.

@Hydark It sounds like you're using buildings for the ceiling, try replacing them with the prop versions!

How were you able to create the underground/cave affect? I'm trying myself to do something like this though whenever I go near a cliff wall or ceiling, the camera goes to the height of the cliff/ceiling. I want to make it where the camera dosen't mess up like this. Any tips to fix this?

@Disciple of CLQ Thanks! At the moment the original map is the siege of Karak Kadrin and this one is a placeholder for Karaz-a-Karak, but perhaps I could see if I could use the original as a 'sally out' map, and this as the siege map.

Hey man, awesome looking map! qq how does this work in the grand campaign with the other Karak Kadrin map? Is the entrance going to be if the battle takes place right outside Karak Kadrin and this map takes place if you siege Karak Kadrin, as that would be freaking awesome!

Surely. But they have teams. I recall that the cities of Medieval II were whole and that the seats of rome II were better worked. You (and maybe friends, I don't know) made a very full 2 ​​cards in 1 and a half. CA could have done something better to work on the faction capitals at least.
I know, I'm a grump, but I like the game that is good quality. xD

@Horus(FR) Ah okay I know what you mean then! Yes, custom maps like these will really help bring a lot of variety to the game. But to be fair on CA's part, it can take a lot of time to make a nice map, and if they would have had to do that for every (major) settlement it would have taken them a loooon time!

CA are aware of all of this. The best thing we can do is make maps like this and show CA we want as much support for Terry as they can give us. :)

It is the criticism of "simplification" in general that was criticized (why the cavalry can more than make a triangle formation, for example)
That's why I like your maps, you propose approaches of different attacks, which is a better, and you respect better the atmosphere of the universe of a Karak

Many on the forum (and a bit of me) complained that the CA seats are simplistic, that there was no going street fights, a great lack of strategies, impossibility of putting cannons on the walls (In the dwarf trailer), attackers obliged to go straight ahead, etc., in short, very simplified.
Impression also that one took part of the fortress or the city (one saw all the great imperial city and one fought that in a very small part)
This is what your maps and Terry can fix, but it seems to me that you can not create a seat card with the "downtown" grip mechanism and make walls and doors that can be attacked and broken ?

A poll in the forum said that a new version of the seats was desired.

@Horus(FR) It would probably be possible to do something with quest battles, and add the different tiers as quest battles for Ungrim. Other than that I could add one as the 'unwalled' version, and one as the 'walled' version. The only problem at the moment is that when a settlement has walls, the AI will build and use siege equipment, but without walls they will just randomly drive the siege equipment around. I wouldn't know if it is possible to change that, if anyone else knows I'd love to hear about it!

A third level? Why not ? But would it be possible for you to put 2 cmaps (or levels) for a siege during a campaign? In any case appreciated the map, because you understood what a Dwarf Karak :). (Karaz a Karak after ? xD). Congratulations :)

@Maruka That is cool! Like I said, I trust your intuition more so you do what you think makes the map work =) btw you should get a hold of milkandcookiesTW or some other TW youtuber and have them do a massive 3vs3 on the map, this map deserves some spotlight!

@FrostyDemise I do think that those images look nice, but it's not that easy to edit down in the chasm actually. I can't actually edit the terrain there, everything is props, not terrain. That being said, I am planning to see if I want to add more detailing down in the chasm, so I'll take this into consideration. As for the color schemes, I respectfully disagree ;)
