Next Update #1 (Est. 22 June)
The next update for the mod will be coming out soon - estimated to be up on Friday, 22nd June. Updates won't affect saves or anything major to break your games - this mod only affects general appearances afterall.

Planned Changes
  • Add spears to generals when in units requiring a spear (e.g. cavalryman).
  • Add last remaining old head retextures.
  • Add some more vanilla placeholder hair to rank 1 + politician variants to cure most general's baldness.
  • Add age "30-49" + "50+" variants to female Roman politicians (along with new assets, separated from existing CA content).
  • Fix female Roman's skeletons to fit with hair (at the moment they're sort of floating, not 100% fitting with the given hair).
  • Add politician variants for Scipio Africanus.
  • Add rank 8, rank 9 and rank 10 politician variations to Polybian general uniforms (Prologue, Hannibal at the Gates)
  • Add new variants for some Roman characters in historical battles (e.g. Varus, Arminius, Caesar etc).
  • Replace UI art of some Roman characters in historical battle briefings to fit new appearances in battles.
  • Replace helmet for "Rom_General_18", who has head clipping through the "Late Officer Helmet" (HatG ranks 2 - 4), with a slightly bigger version of the same helmet.
  • Fix "Rom_General_22" hair and helmet references.
  • Fix "Rom_General_18" missing tunic etc for "CiG_r01_sWarm", "CiG_r02_sCold" and "CiG_r02_sWarm" variants.
  • Fix missing textures for the general's sash (the knot around his waist).
  • Replace a placeholder armour texture I accidentally left in the mod.

EDIT: This update has been released.

Hey, good to know, I have a question though, do you plan to add custom hairstyles and beards to the romans/other future overhauls, because I think there is some info about the aesthetics in the ancient rome if you want to check it out.

Yes, I do plan to make some entirely new custom hair / beards for Romans and future mods since I don't like (most) of the vanilla hair / beard quality (they're just too damn blocky and usually don't seamlessly blend in with the skins).

If you've got any good links / visual references for Roman hair / beards then please feel free to share - I'll add them to my research library.

Hi Benjin, I have had some time to look up to basic info about the roman hair and beardstyles, Just scratching a little, I think for starting, the romans emperors which representation is canonized from the julii-claudii dinasty, there is no beard in general, apart from the stubble, but for the army a good trimmed beard could be possible to exist, nothing full spartan. As for the hair, primarly short hair in curly waves or just thick and straight.

Here you go some Links, one is for men hairstyles in general, they have greek and "Old testament/Kinda Easterns" references too, another one is pictures of all the emperors images till Constantine, so you can see some evo of the styles:

Also, I am a history student, and I am talking with one of my rome's archeology teacher, to see if she knows of any treaty and scultures data banks that you can check out.

Thanks for the links and the research - been a big help! :steamhappy:

Locking this discussion since the update has now been released - should start a new discussion related to Roman hair / other potential asset ideas for the future.
